  1. Chris Beard (clap clap clap clap clap) Beats His Girlfriend (clap clap clap clap clap) All we need is someone to print out a bunch of copies of Beard’s mugshot. It’ll be like Ricky Clemons all over again…iykyk
  2. but we only have to wait three years for the next season
  3. The thing about jokes is they are actually funny.
  4. There’s this thing called Title IX; so if we give football another 20 scholarships, we have to reduce 20 scholarships in other men’s sports or give female sports another 20 scholarships, which would require creating another female sport, which is way more expensive than the cost of 20 (really 40) scholarships. And since none of this is in a bubble, there’s probably a host of other obligations and considerations this would trigger.
  5. I don’t disagree with you, but you also have to be realistic about your chances of landing said players. So far, the strategy of money whipping the best hasn’t worked on the oline. But we don’t need and may not be able to afford the best at every position; going from well below average to slightly above average at a few positions would have had us in the playoffs. I’m fully aware and in agreement with your last paragraph. It’ll be interesting to see how that impacts HS recruiting going forward.
  6. Both things can be true. Ideally you have a GM who can articulate the trajectory a player is on within the program, what that envisioned role is worth and what the player can do to change that role. There’s also a level of consistency, professionalism and engagement you want from someone in that role, which it doesn’t seem like Harris is bringing. There was an article talking about what TCU(?) was doing to prepare for the portal. They focused their portal scouting on players from the region, those they had previously recruited or those who have some connection to the state or program. Judging from our pursuit of the Michigan olinemen we don’t have that philosophy, and depending on how things wrap up that could be an expensive and damaging self inflicted wound.
  7. How in the fuck can anyone be expected to actually read this thread?
  8. What’s the best solution to this?Seems like certifying agents, standardized contracts and multi-year contracts with buyouts for both sides would be a good start. Would those need to be collectively bargained with the players, who would have to form some kind of union, or could that be implemented by the conferences and withstand a legal challenge? If there is a potential bright side to this madness, there will likely be a ton more players entering the portal as they see the first wave of players getting paid. So, they’ll be able to get more money from their current schools after visiting Texas. Also, if y’all haven’t read it, there was a good article, I think in the Athletic, talking about how TCU(?) was preparing for the portal.
  9. Because you touch yourself.
  10. and then the dude in the pink comes from nowhere and kicks him in his head while he’s knocked out.
  11. I hear you, but I like the version of college football that allows Texas to flex its financial muscles and for players to be paid what they are worth (even if it’s less than what they think they are worth)
  12. Huge PTA fan, and in anticipation of this movie I read Vineland, the novel on which it is loosely based. Wished I hadn’t done that, because I would have liked the movie more had I not read the book first. The Lockjaw/Perfidia storyline, although different from the book, was my least favorite part of the novel, and it was hard to get past it being a focal point of the film.
  13. Posting screenshots of a poster whom you’re ignoring defeats the purpose of ignoring them.
  14. Caught the last 30ish minutes of this. What a shit show. Evan Dando’s come a long way from dating Kate Moss and Milla Jovovich.
  15. Well that and the fact that a player died under Durkin’s watch.
  16. Assuming you don’t overdo it, I don’t think it would hurt and it may even help.
  17. The only time I post on this thread is to bitch about the oline. Just a complete and total ‘what the fuck, you dumbass?’ shout out to Caserio.
  18. I didn’t see them.
  19. Went by Levitation at the Palmer Events Center yesterday. That place gives serious Unicorn vibes (For those unfamiliar, the Unicorn was a hollowed out grocery store turned music venue in North Houston back in the 90s.) with a side of a mid 80s battle of the bands in a high school gymnasium. It’s cavernous and has crappy sound especially since the bands were all metal. But it was a Mecca for crusty, old metal-heads; some serious lifers who are down for the cause.
  20. Have you found anything with set times for the weekend? Will the festival wrap up in time to make it to the night shows?
  21. You need zero cardio to lose weight. I experienced this recovering from random injuries. Last summer I went from 10-15 hours of exercise to zero after herniating a disc. My caloric intake dropped, and I lost nearly an inch off my waist in about two months.
  22. Not a top five but five of my faves: I Am Waiting She’s So Cold She Smiled Sweetly Let It Loose Too Tough
  23. I’ve been reading Vineland in anticipation of this movie. It’ll be interesting to see how much the movie incorporates form he book. Regardless, the book has me more stoked to see this one.
