Ken Paxton is dirty? NO FUCKING WAY!
Um... From Quorum Report: During Texas trip President Trump reportedly discussed appointing Paxton as US Attorney General to shakeup GOP Senate primary Under increased MAGA pressure to dismiss AG Bondi over Epstein files, a potential plan could come together to make Paxton AG, changing dynamics in Texas Senate race From the item in Mediaite by Sarah Rumpf: It’s well known that “John Cornyn refuses to let a scumbag like Ken Paxton sit in Sam Houston’s Senate seat,” the source said, but Paxton wasn’t content to just remain as the Texas AG. So how to get Paxton out of the way? The solution, according to the source, was for Trump to get rid of Bondi, Paxton to drop out of the Senate race, Trump to nominate Paxton for AG, Cornyn to announce he was retiring, and Hunt to announce he was running for Senate — in a now-open seat, not challenging an incumbent. July 4th Hill Country Flooding Tragedy
Zoe Quaid was a junior counselor at Camp Longhorn on Inks Lake when this happened. Dennis should sit this one out.

Texas -- a failed state
Special session coming up in July. I'm sure there will be a nicely worded joint resolution honoring those who died.

July 4th Hill Country Flooding Tragedy
My kids have several friends who were there. They are hearing that the second Bubble Inn counselor and the others from that cabin were found together dead this morning. I just have no words left.

Camp Longhorn is fine. Debris in the lake from runoff, but Inks is fine.

Favorite oysters
https://shop.islandcreekoysters.com/pages/oysters Their namesake oysters are on the small side, but they are consistently good. They do a good job describing the size and flavors of their weekly offerings. If you can catch the Mookie Blues, they are excellent.

Texas may have accidentally legalized marijuana
He's trying to distract from the reporting about how his bill will decimate the hemp farmers, and he gets the bonus of ginning up pressure on Abbott to sign it. You can buy all kinds of dangerous shit online, but this is what we're crying about? Fuck him and those pussies standing around him.

JFC this. Every fucking one of them sitting near me over three games was insufferable. Would not shut up telling their buddies about a player's stats, why a certain pitch they had just thrown was okay but not ideal, how the umps didn't understand how to call a check swing, and on and on and fucking on.

The Blake Lively (Ryan Reynolds's wife) Controversy
Maybe because Scarlett Johansson peaced out of their marriage after he had an affair with Blake Lively while filming The Green Lantern. I think he's just as much a control freak as his wife, and he's likely still pissed he couldn't control his then-wife not putting up with his bullshit.

What the fuck is wrong with you, Austin?
Even the guy who likes the bike lanes gets it: Klipp is not surprised the city got so much negative feedback. “It doesn’t shock me at all. I feel like the bike lanes were installed with very little notice to any of the residents. It seemed like they just kind of popped up overnight, and it was a shock to the system, especially for people who live on the streets, with the bike lanes. I think some advanced notice or communication from the city about what was being implemented before it was done would have probably alleviated some of that shock,” said Klipp. The city does shit like this all the time without having any conversations with the neighborhoods. Why? Just get some fucking feedback and information about what would be beneficial before plowing ahead. Have a conversation before wasting money based a consultant's recommendations for a road they've driven probably twice, FFS.

The Masters 2025
We were sitting in someone's chairs directly behind the 16 green when those groups came through. That was my favorite spot Tuesday for sure. I've been trying through the lottery for 20 years but never won. This was the year I was making it happen, so I just bought from StubHub, and it was worth every penny.

The Masters 2025
I enter the lottery every year, and I've never gotten tickets. Another friend has won it four times, so take your chance I guess. But if you want to go, just bite the bullet and go secondary market. I bought from StubHub, and I had tickets in hand about a week beforehand. No issues. First day was Monday, and we got about four hours of course time before they blew the weather horn and kicked everyone out. We didn't even try the store because the line was at least 90 minutes long. There were very few players on the course, but having never been before, we planned on our first day being more about the course than the golf. For anyone entering the lottery next year, don't ask for Monday (unless you got them for this year). ANGC announced that Monday ticket holders would be guaranteed Monday for 2026 to make up for the (almost) rain out. Tuesday was amazing, Chamber of Commerce weather, and most players were on the course. We found two chairs with a front row seat behind 16 green and watched several groups, including many of their caddies, skip their balls across the water. So fun. Best foursome was Freddie, JT, Kopeka, and Adam Scott. Caught up with Jordan and Zach Johnson at Amen Corner. Spent a small fortune in the store, and had several Crows Nests to wash down all those sandwiches. Great fucking day. Still pinching myself that I was there, and I can't wait to get back.

2025 Texas Football - Road Trips to Away Games
Athens will be at a standstill on game day, and there is very little parking around campus. If you can't stay in Athens, then rent a car and plan to get to town early. You can Uber to/from ATL, but you'll still have to get somewhere away from campus for them to pick you up after the game. There is also a shuttle service between the ATL airport and Athens: https://groometransportation.com/athens/?&sd_client_id=268b72e3-8466-4071-8d48-b9528bad0579 I have a kid at UGA, and although I have not been to a game yet, I have seen how bad the traffic is for any weekend event. The downtown and campus areas just can't handle the influx of cars. Plan to walk a lot.

Austin Fine Dining - Anniversary Dinner recs
Check around on Thursday afternoon before the 24-hour cancellation window closes, and set some notifications/alerts on Open Table and Resy for the places you might like that are already booked. Jeffrey's and J. Carver's are pretty reliable. Check the Austin specific page for some other recs. Good luck, and happy anniversary.

Surly kids who can't get into UT
Oh, they want my money. My daughter loves it, so on balance, it's been a good choice for her. And we've agreed to not discuss football because I want to throat punch most of their fans and head coach.
-
Surly kids who can't get into UT
Definitely. A few of my UGA daughter's HS senior friends got rejected after deferral, and at least two of them were auto-admit to Texas. I guess their essays or test scores knocked them out? FWIW, a college admissions account I still follow on social media says the problem is that everyone (exaggeration, I know) wants to go to the same 10 schools, so as that trend continues, it's just going to get harder. A frustrating aspect of going to UGA from out-of-state is that you register for classes after the in-state kids register. So yes, not only are we paying tuition when they are going for free, but the non-Georgia residents are getting the leftover course choices too. It hasn't been a big problem yet, but my TEX emotional scars have me a little concerned when she gets to needing those upper level required classes. It's total bullshit.
