Haven't had a chance to read the opinion, but it sounds like only 3 justices in the majority found that the tariffs violated the MQD (and 2 of those argued over what the MQD even actually is fundamentally) while the other 3 were of the "no that's bullshit, we don't need MQD the tariffs are illegal for a dozen other reasons." Roberts just can't pass up an opportunity to remind everyone that he should have a super-veto.
Scott Galloway's face is next to the definition of "mid" in the dictionary. Just another asshole in a sea of thousands who doesn't want to work a real job, wants attention, and realized there's a huge market for white men riffing on current events as if they're intellectuals with some deep insight or anything meaningful to say. Humanity would be better off if we threw him and every other similar white dude pundit in a volcano.
Tim Scott is a Republican. There's nothing Republicans love more than token minorities who do their bidding. If Tim Scott changed parties tomorrow he'd pull 15% of the statewide vote in the following election.
One of the most prominent singers of the Harper’s letter helping Trump censor his political enemies is a perfect ending to all that “we’re not right-wing, we’re just pro free speech!” bullshit.
Watergate is something like #1,456 after 1,455 different Trump scandals (assuming all the different Epstein-related stories count as just one scandal).
When his daughter asked him how he'd feel if she got sexually assaulted, he responded that he's got two other daughters who still live with him so he wouldn't really care. He killed her as a message to his other daughters.
It would/will be a political clusterfuck, but the next Dem president should absolutely issue an executive order that Trump was disqualified from holding the office and every act he took and every appointment he made is invalid.
Well it sure looks like one of their racists is a Longhorn. I wonder if he posts on Surly or if he's one of those guys who thinks the Surly football board is full of commies.
Even real estate ownership isn't as reliable as most people think. It's just that it only becomes unreliable in the same context the dollar might become unreliable, e.g. pretty much total financial collapse of the United States of America. There's no perfectly safe investment to park your money. Everything comes with risk. It's just that crypto is very obviously much, much riskier than any of its alternatives and its only actual use value is money laundering.
My favorite is how they always convince themselves that their objection is just that THIS CURRENT Dem is too far left, and if the Dems had just stuck with moderate candidates like they'd nominated previously then the poster would support them. There are millions of Americans who were legit black helicopter conspiracy theorists during Clinton's terms and thought Obama was a Kenyan Muslim who will tell you with all sincerity that Joe Biden was a radical communist and had Dems nominated someone like Clinton or Obama in 2020 they would've voted for them instead of Trump.
