  1. Went to the AAC to Henley's 70th birthday show last year with Stevie Nicks, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmidt, and Patty Smyth. Could not bring myself to buy a ticket to Jerruh World to see the Eagles after hearing so many of their hits in a good venue last year.
  2. As a teenager in the 60's and growing up in Corpus Christi, the surf music got plenty of airtime. This thread is a reminder of all of the vinyl I once had and wish I still did. Pos rep.
  3. Tamboor was outstanding as usual.
  4. Sicario-Day of the Soldado-agree with the Rotten Tomato reviews. 6/10 as it lacks the plot of the initial offering.
  5. Great story. Future Longhorn Joey Aboussie was unstoppable in that game.
  6. Yep, missed that two pointer in '64 in Austin against Arky but got it in '69. Good times indeed.
  7. IIRC Tony Crosby was a sock footed kicker on that championship team and what a great story about your pop. This was my second year of following the Longhorns after they lost to LSU the previous year in the Cotton Bowl. For him too have had the honor to address the team on the 40th anniversary must have made you feel extremely proud. Rep for the cool story.
  8. Hits close to home as we are headed there in July as well. Crested Butte, Durango, and Grand Junction are all planned. Come on Mother Nature, give it up.
  9. Love Chicago and The Drake hotel is my favorite. Hope you are not suffering as a result of the accident and that things go smoothly across the pond.

While sitting in a weekly AA meeting at the Union Gospel Mission here in Cowtown, my buddy got a text from his wife. She reported that their alcoholic neighbor across the street that they had both tried to help find the program had hung himself. Cunning, baffling, POWERFUL. There but for the grace of God. . .

Subscribed-always go to the Original when in Galveston. Never been disappointed.
  12. Maybe the last days of the Cherokee Inn are soon to be upon us. When a bartender is depressed, that is not a good sign.

As long as Stan Lee and Marvel are making bank, this series will continue. Saw it this afternoon after watching the first Deadpool and enjoyed the hell out of it.

Glad you are in recovery from your surgery and doing well. Learn how to throw the knuckle ball, it puts less stress on your arm. Former Longhorn, Dodger, Ranger Burt Hooten made a good living throwing the knuckle curve.
  15. Hell yeah, JR Allred had a bunch of bars that made the list along with some of these that no longer open-Sundown Dart Bar, JJ's hideaway, Hi Hat, Hop, University Pub, Alibi Lounge, VIP, and as mentioned, the list could grow to 25 easily.
  16. Robbie is one cool owner whose restaurant and bar sense is spot on.
  17. An automatic stop down for me whenever it airs. Never get tired of seeing Denzel exact the revenge from La Hermandad.
  18. Nothing was more hard fought in the 60's in the SWC than the game with Woo Pig Sooey. Texas would have likely won a second title in a row after beating Navy and Roger Staubach, but the try for two failed and Arky prevailed 14-13 in Austin. DKR and Frank Broyles were golfing buddies in the offseason but enemies the week after the OU game every year. I miss the rivalry that existed between the Horns and Hogs when in the same conference.
  19. If Gil Brandt were already there, this would make sense. RIP to a great player and prayers for his family
  20. Good times indeed!! Back in the 80's happy hour cans of beer, the second best shuffleboard table in Cowtown (behind the Hi Hat), and a cast of characters not unlike those on Cheers where everybody knew your name. Always a part of our annual white trash pub crawl, the VIP was a bar bar-none of those boat drinks allowed.
  21. Agree the burger is solid-but when more than two tables are occupied, it can take a while to get served. Haven't returned since that experience and miss the old location on the circle-wish first new location had worked out.
  22. VIP refugee perhaps?
  23. Thanks for the report-wife has been wanting to go there.
