Have had this on my DVR since July and finally got around to watching it Saturday with the missus while we were snowed in. We watched One Battle After Another in the afternoon and Sinners that night. My wife had no idea it involved vampires, which isn't her bag. She dozed off but that's more because it was pretty late than anything. What a gorgeous movie and the music was incredible. I really enjoyed it. All-time record Oscar movie? Maybe not but a lot of those were technical -- and all deserving IMO. It took me awhile to place Paddy Mayne as the head vampire. Loved Delroy Lindo's character. I could listen to Hailee Steinfeld say "cooz" in her NOLA accent on repeat and never tire of it.
I've never even bothered trying to watch Free Solo and I'll never watch this either. Just couldn't handle it. The dramatized movie where the guy tightrope walked between the World Trade Center towers in the 70's almost made me physically ill.
Finally sat down and watched this one with my wife this afternoon since we're sleeted/iced/snowed in today. I thought it was outstanding, perhaps even more so due to today's events in Minneapolis. Boogie Nights is still PTA's magnum opus but this was an outstanding addition to his body of work. In surfing over to IMDB, it appears I've not seen his first movie, Hard Eight. Need to check that out. I was also completely unawares of Phantom Thread.
