Secondary Facebook groups are usually under website/storefront secondary in the US. I’d agree that it’s in the $4000s range. For the most part the website/storefront guys are buying large collections to get what amounts to a wholesale secondary price (or buying from other retailers) and then marking up to stupid retail.
  2. New Sequoia looks great, I’d buy one in a heartbeat. Used Landcruisers have veered off into collectible/Bring A Trailer land so I’m not sure I’d bother with that as a family hauler. We did about 80k hassle free miles on a second gen Sequioa and I still kinda miss that thing.

Nothing like it that I’ve ever had. Better in different ways and 80% as good wheaters, yes. I have pretty much everything other than a WLW and just can’t bring myself to pay $1600 for one. I’ll just find it at bars and drink it with clients.

You have to know a guy who knows a guy on Facebook. WLW almost always goes above Facebook secondary on auction and websites.
  5. I just finalized the deal on the GT350 replacement, which will be a ‘23 ZL1 convertible manual in summit white with all the options (basically just carbon add ons) other than red seatbelts, which I didn’t want anyway. The dealers I talked to in TX were telling me months to get an allocation but this one was just sitting at a dealer in Michigan. I’ve sat in one of these and have driven a couple of non-ZL1 Camaros and these seats are epic compared to my non-Recaros in the Shelby. I’m hoping the TR-6060 is as great as the TR-3160, but it’s an older design so we will see. I haven’t had a vert in like 8 years and wish I had it now for this great winter weather. Deal closes Monday and then shipping it down enclosed. Growing up in the ‘90s I would never have believed that a bone stock vert would be throwing down 650 hp and 650 ft-lbs for the price of a nice 1/2 ton truck. Can’t. Wait.
  6. Love this full moon. Time to whack a doe.
  7. Speaking of kids, my new favorite genre of texts is grainy ass photos of deer from my teenager asking if it’s an 8 point. I don’t know, bruh, looks like maybe it’s at least 8 pixels tho.

Good, but I’ve had one rebel yell 10 that was better and one that wasn’t. Since these are all at secondary now you’re paying $325-$350 for a shot at beating a bottle that is somewhat available and $75. For $400-$425 you could pick up a ‘90s Stitzel Weller rebel yell that would smoke them all even at 80 proof.

It’s going for about 950 so that checks out. I’ve had multiple people say it’s not as good as the 17, which got smoked by an 11 when we cracked those and a 9 on the same night. I have a lot of love for the bottles and think the whiskey is decent to good. Probably not worth paying for on secondary for the 15 and up.
  11. Bought in Oct ‘19 with 2,300 miles and I’ve put another 50,000 on it with one set of brake pads, a bunch of $130 oil changes, 3 new set of Pilots, an axle and trans fluid change and zero other issues. It has some annoying rear end gear whine but the dealer and forums say that’s just how it is. Oil burn is zero to 1/2 qt of oil between changes depending on how hard I’m driving. The Voodoo seems improved from ‘18 on and either burns tons of oil and explodes in 20k miles or lasts forever. The exhaust note from 5k-8k rpm remains undefeated in American cars. Overall I’d give it 9/10 for raw driving experience and maybe a 7/10 as a daily. The tramlining, tire eating, splitter scraping and 5.0 bros wanting to race you are a little annoying but at its core it’s just a fairly easy to live with Mustang.
  12. My ‘18 GT350 is about to be available.

Those are all great bottles for somebody just getting serious. Maybe a little heavy on BT products, but no complaints. I’m a little ambivalent about that Kosher rye bourbon, but the Kosher Straight Rye is a banger.

You can always order some 12/101 from one of the euro sites if you want some cool Turkey that isn’t available commonly in the states. Grab a few to save on shipping and trade them for other bottles you can’t find.

I’d rank them like this: 1. Alex Grinch getting left on the tarmac in DFW 2. Shitty refs who don’t believe in holding calls 3. Losing to Tulane

It took about the same time it always does on the egg at 225, which is about 7-8 hours. It honestly didn’t seem to change anything other than giving more surface area for smoke and salt/pepper. It also made it a little easier to arrange the meat to stay away from the hot spots around the deflector plate.

Tried something different yesterday and smoked two racks cut individually, then cut off the bone and sliced across to make more of a snack style for NYE. This is really an incredible way to get more bark and it seems to have no affect on how juicy it was. I’d definitely do it again when trying to let everybody have just a couple bites. H/T to Jason who does the BBQ at Spanish Oaks for being the inspiration for trying this.

Like everything else they’ve gotten really hard to find. I picked the Decades up on clearance at Spec’s for $88 and the 17 yr BiB by asking for it at Twin. Last year my main store saved me the One and this year I had to trade for the Unforgotten. TW seems to tons of them but I don’t have status or hookups there.
  19. USCATX replied to Jimbaround's topic in Food and Travel
Just cracked the Unforgotten, we’ll see how it stacks up against Decades and BiB 17 yr.

If you need something inoffensive and military-oriented for a gift, this is actually pretty solid. My BIL got it for me (he’s the military guy, not me) and it’s very crushable with kind of a young Eagle Rare vibe to it. I had to google the source to find out it was Middle West spirits and it was good enough to make me want to try some of their older and higher proof options. This one is mainly lacking in mouth feel which is pretty watery and thin. Oh, and I’ve aged better than Josh Heupel and my bourbon collection is vast. What a time to be alive.

I don’t begrudge anybody waiting in that line, but (humble brag) I have all those bottles open and most with backups other than Saz rye (prefer 95/5 and EHT Rye) and Bowman. But man, if my boys were about 5 years older I would have absolutely paid them to sit in that line and wreck shop with my card.
  22. USCATX replied to Jimbaround's topic in Food and Travel
Not sure how yours was, but this was like an oaky crème brûlée in a bottle. Crazy good mouth feel for a bourbon in the mid 90s proof that I don’t think you could find unless it was barrel proof. No standing in line and no regerts on this one.
  23. USCATX replied to Jimbaround's topic in Food and Travel
Anyway, this is the best Dickel that ever crossed my lips. If the new 17 year red/gold labels are this good then it’s worth your money.
  24. USCATX replied to Jimbaround's topic in Food and Travel
It would be amazing for Spec’s to have everything priced right at secondary when these people walk right in. Maybe throw some screen shots of recent Facebook BINs on there to validate the pricing and then back it off $20 for shipping and 8% for tax.
  25. I had another flight tomorrow to Greenville where they sent a text cancellation two days ago but it was still showing as live in the app. Finally today the flight shows as cancelled and I was prompted to cancel or rebook in the app. When I chose cancel they gave me credit and I had to fill out a separate form for a refund on a flight they canceled. 0% faith they get any of this right.
