  1. The street outside my house looks like pure ice in south Austin. Problem is forecast is only 33-34 today so may be hard to access what the afternoon will look like. My brother drove here in the snow from Buda with his two kids. He just found out he has power now but is likely stuck with us another day/night if roads are iced.
  2. Allegedly it absorbs the ice expansion and not the skimmer itself. Mine’s actually not frozen even though pool is. Just three a half filled milk jug in and out cover on top.
  3. Just catching up but this is what I did at 2am last night. Still no power. Broke up all the ice with a shovel and will do the milk jug in skimmer, etc
  4. Sorry, it's only been about 6 weeks with SWCG so no issues to report. I sealed the stone coping with some shit that was $170/gal so it better work.
  5. Haha, based on my above posts I could be your neighbor regarding the automation. But as you said, have to draw the line somewhere. I did go SWCG, basically in place of automation. If you've read Trouble Free Pools, I'm sure you're aware, but you can avoid CYA creep by using pure liquid chlorine.
  6. I do not have automation. Might add later.
  7. Thomas J?
  8. Are those trucks skidding the whole way? Massive line of brake lights should be easy to spot in the dark.
  9. I downloaded the manual and there is no setting for speed. Says will run on max speed for 8 hours once temp is reached. Temp can be set from 40F to 34F or something like that. Thought that was lame too. Hayward Tristar vs 950...supposedly a pretty decent pump. I can deal with setting manual timers < 10 times a year. I haven't worried about the few low 30s or high 20s nights we've had. This 9 degree shit is different though.
  10. I turned off the auto cold setting on my pump because it only runs at full speed which is too loud for me since it's right across the wall from my pillow at night, but I've set a timer to run half speed all day. The SWCG won't run for a week but I got the chlorine up pretty high to try and coast and algae isn't growing in this water temp anyway I don't think.
  11. So about the upcoming weather...just run pump and hope we don't lose power? I'm barely out of start-up phase so obviously didn't do anything to prepare for polar vortexes and shit.
  12. 2 more next week as well so $2/game for a one month subscription.
  13. You might want to remove everyone’s edit permissions or we might have a bunch of 7s all of a sudden
  14. Fuck it, I just added 2 more.
  15. My notes show 6 weeks for me. Stone coping and tile was pretty fast after gunite, but the concrete deck guys plus cleanup took a month and we only had 200 sqft of deck. Throw in Thanksgiving for another dead week. But again, I had a pretty smooth experience all together. Here's my notes if anybody gives a shit. Not included is the meetings with builders, etc...just from making the decision and telling builder to go. Permit application - July 20-24 - 1 week Permit from City - Aug 12 - 3 weeks Wait to start - Aug 17-Sept 14 - 4 weeks Excavation - Sept14-25 - 2 weeks Rebar, plumbing, equipment, elect inspection - Sept 28-Oct1 - 1 week Gunite - Oct 16 - 2 weeks Gunite cure - 1 week Stone, tile - Oct 26-30 - 1 week Deck forms - Nov 10-12 - 2 weeks Deck poor - Nov 19 - 1 week Cleanup - Nov 20 Thanksgiving - 1 week Pebble - Nov 30-Dec1 Fill, fence repair - Dec 2-3 - 1 week Lawn, irrigation repair - Dec 10-11 Sundek - Jan 6-7
  16. Damn, my argument with builder about concrete decking forms being a foot off from plan seems pretty minor. Other than several "the crew will be out Monday" turning into Wednesday or the next Monday, that was about my biggest issue which I just had the crew move the forms. Supposedly they charged him $700 for that 15mins of work but that sounded like a lie to me. The skimmer and a bench being off center are among the minor things we didn't have fixed. So glad to know we're done, and the water is perfectly balanced and clear (going trouble free pool method from the start) and ready for spring/summer. If the weather is right, planning a March Madness in the pool/spa long weekend to break it in.
  17. It was also kind of odd that the breakfast had no hog. That should make sense to you.
  18. Hopefully Shaka's mood isn't in part due to him knowing we're not where we need to be and will have a rough go tonight. Wife and I will be in the building same as all the other games we were allowed to. Fuck it...just got to hit some shots and will have a chance.
  19. It's also very easy for a team to say they have less than 6 due to contract tracing and nobody will say shit. Like maybe we should have played a 6 to 7 player Baylor team earlier this year.
  20. I'm guessing the time changed since that is what is says.

  22. I'm with @freyguy. I already have my own bins for yard stuff (fuck those paper bags). They try to sell this as a way to save on the trash bin by downsizing but then I have to go buy extra bins and bags for inside to collect it before putting in new green bin so it's probably a wash. I suppose we can tell who lives in the 'burbs in this thread and are just getting these...
  23. Yeah, but we weren't playing Saturday with 3 players so we just didn't have to announce that we were essentially paused as well. Whatever...ou still sucks.
  24. So the ISU and TCU games were because of us and not the other team or both? If we already caused two postponed games then yeah, I guess we should get back to playing as soon as capable. I've been thinking 2 teams bailed on us so we should have done the same to ou.
