Texas basketball 2020-21: Not even Shaka can fuck this up...right?
Last year, for the first time in my family, a bunch of family members got various kinds of cancer and we've been dealing with it ever since. My mom just got off chemo a few weeks ago from breast cancer, notably, and she's slowly recovering. We'd been lucky and never had to be around cancer before, so I never knew how ugly it can be. After dealing with all that, Andrew Jones became one of my favorite longhorns ever. What a badass.

That little sequence in the beginning of the 2nd half when Kansas brought it within 4, then Texas turned around and hit 4 three pointers in a row and never looked back is no joke the best sequence in Texas basketball history.

KU's only other loss was to #1 Ganzaga and Texas' only loss has been to #4 Villanova. Kansas has been dominant outside of their loss, and Texas looks legit. Texas won the Maui invitational for the first time in school history by beating UNC. The team basically picked up where they left off last season after everyone had written them off, when they won 6 in a row. It appears they turned the corner late last season and reloaded this season by adding Greg Brown and all the seniors basically leveling up. Texas is legit stacked.

What feels so different from previous really good Texas basketball teams is that we nabbed a sure-fire one-and-done in the offseason, and he's been living up to his billing, and yet he's NOT the best player on the team. Our best player is our senior point guard. That we can add someone like Greg Brown, and he can meet expectations, but our success doesn't hinge solely on him, makes this Texas team feel completely different from any other UT basketball team I've ever seen. I disagree that this team just fluked onto Smart. This is a senior laden team, he's actually developed these guys into what they are. Matt Coleman's improvements have been staggering. Being a senior on this team actually matters.

Brown has been on a tear the last 5 games. This was his first quiet game in a while.

Ya, I liked Shaka when he was at VCU and I've liked him since he stepped foot at UT. I think he actually is a very smart person, but doesn't brag. He just has had a shitty record at Texas is all. I disliked herman from the moment he was at UH. Anyone who brags about being in Mensa is a moron. A Mensa membership is a pretty quick way to tell if someone has self esteem problems and isn't really that smart. If you have to go around telling people that you're smart, you probably aren't. I'd be down for Shaka to build something great at Texas. When Herman won the sugar bowl, it was more like I tolerated that we were winning with a douchebag at coach. Fuck Tom Herman, I'm glad Smart is actually improving right now. EDIT: Also just to say, fuck UH and the entire city of Houston. We should never ever resort to hiring a Cougar High coach again. Fuck that loser school and city. When it comes to athletics, the city of Houston's fanbases are basically NFL aggy. #5 UH shitting the bed means Texas should probably move into the top 5 on Monday.

Cherry on top of today would be Mack Brown breaking Aggy's heart again.

Texas has been pretty legit all season long, even in their only loss to #4 Villanova they played well. I actually set an alarm to wake up to watch this game. I thought it'd be close, tough game. This is so much better. Last basketball game I can remember being this satisfying was Shaka's win over OU his first year where Texas shut them down for like 10 minutes straight.

Texas is legitimately good this year. Seems like every single game, a new player has a career game. Which actually matters because the team is full of seniors and juniors. It feels like its clicking for everyone all at the same time. This has to be the best Texas basketball team so far since that stretch where Texas was #1 under barnes. I hope their confidence soars. That upcoming Baylor game suddenly looks so much bigger now. Texas has more than a puncher's chance to shake up the nation, they can actually ball.

Same with most of the team honestly. This is a super easy squad to pull for, especially with stories like Andrew Jones'.

Texas has been raining 3s all year. Texas can score inside out now. The secret has honestly been Matt Coleman's ascension. Pairing a top senior with Greg Brown is looking like the real thing.
