  1. Glad you IBRX shareholder are finally getting that ride you hoped for! Depending on your entry point of course
  2. Think I answered my own question- The restriction is that Players have to declare by the set deadlines. Signings are only restricted by a schools acceptance/enrollment policies. So if my math is right the last day for us, would be the 12th say of class. Which means we have until January 28th at the very latest. So what is our OL level of worry today after getting the kid from Wake who should be able to slide in and play now?
  3. So today is the last day to normally enter the portal, BUT the only restriction on signing kids for Spring is the enrollment dead lines? In other words signing for Spring players, is limited by actual admission closure? That is now the limiter? And my cursory search saw their were late enrollment options with college and dean approval for up to 12 days after normal enrollment starts.
  4. My exclusively Fox watching 94 year old father was explaining how rates are now at 5.8%. So propaganda does work?
  5. One thing that I do truly miss about the old days was going to the first Freshman practice. So you could see for yourself if the kids passed the eyeball test compared to the hype, and just to see the incoming freshmen as a group before joining with the rest of the team. And... parking was free and I think entry was free as well. And tailgate spots were free (with the occasional near territorial fisticuffs) and Mack's teeth were white!
  6. Please confirm that I am correct on this. The portal for all non- NC team players closes on the 16th. Then the window for the NC players opens only for those players. Correct? A guy last night was saying it reopened for all players during that 20-24th window. He seemed pretty convinced, and I didn't want to argue about it. Am I right or wrong? In other words... IF we feel like we had a couple of OL from Indiana, who wanted to tan in the spring at Lake Travis. We would have then hair on fire panic between the 16th and the NC portal window due to the lack of OL signings. And we could still end up just fine with a get or two from Miami or Indiana. Just wondering if somebody here was going to perhaps live stream OL induced hari kari this weekend, if the cupboard is not full by Friday. ;-)
  7. That honestly should be the header on the 9.95 forum. If not the whole damn site!
  8. Oops. Meant to say $8-10 Trillion in additional debt. $8-10 billion is more like the secret service tab.
  9. I sort of giggle at some of you pretending that normal for decades is normal now regarding Powell. It's what I would want to argue, but it's not remotely true.
  10. Next time just say I'd fuck him. What sort of fucking moron has such a small ball sack that you shop for BBQ at central market? Honestly!!!!! Oh shit. I'm sorry... @goathumper This lack of manhood obligations to cook meat on a charcoal pit for your loved ones was something you lost... herding the easy one....
  11. This thread is odd for me. First emotion is the memory of my going over so many times to my in-laws when the TV wasn't working. The source was nearly always the problem. I feel bad for feeling frustrated with them, as they are gone now. Secondly is is how lucky my father, the sole survivor of grandparents to my kids is so good at technology... and he is 94. They say that keeping up with tech is key to not getting "old." I got he and my mom an iPhone years ago, and at least a couple grand in service. BUT the simplicity of the basic apple format on the phone/ipad/mac is good for continuity. AND a little better security overall, IMHO. But heck my Dad would probably enjoy visiting other olds and explaining tech. He gave a little presentation on how to directly hook the TV to your hearing aids a week or so ago. I do not have a "hey google" house. But that might be an option for older people?
  12. I remember when you might disagree with an the folks that President's appoint, but historically they actually have been competent despite their political leanings. Now it's just a how can I do what the king wants and get a pat on the head. That oath swearing to the constitution a complete and total joke, with this bunch of incompetents. On the bright side, a lot of the time Trump actually is the smartest person in the room with this collection of clowns. Going to be interesting to see who is going to be buying to $8-10 billion of additional debt Trump will add onto the heap by the end of his term.
  13. Something I also wonder as an outsider, regarding NIL. How much does location and the team influence the dollar amount? Or is a pure highest bidder wins, and I will live in a crappy place with a losing team. Like volunteering to go to the Cleveland Browns in the NFL Draft. I assume it varies by kid, as management is going for the $ and nothing else. But would a guy that you would have to pay $2.5 million to move to a team as bad as Florida (I feel the sting of writing that). Might going to a better place to live, for a little less, on a team that you might get a championship, make that ask a little flexible? If you view this post as inane I do not care, as 72.5 percent of all Surly posts fall into that category. Now what about Sue? uh Suh?...
  14. I am old enough to remember Franco Harris' "Immaculate Reception" dashing hopes. Watching us give the the ball three times early, was bringing back bad mojo memories most of the game. What a great fucking defensive game! Absolutely fantastic! And we ran the ball well. Gee seems like teams with great defenses and strong running games tend to do very well in playoff situations. Let's hope so! All I know is it feels damn good waking up this morning. The three quarters of "we are going to lose a game we should win" mutherfucker muttering made the sweetness of the 4th quarter a giddy counterpoint. Still grinning. It's been a Loooonnnnnnggggg time since I felt this optimistic about a team from Houston in the playoffs. Which only means, it's a tease, to get my hopes up only so they can be dashed once again. But damnit, I am grinning today and it feels good. Wish I knew more Cowboy fans to talk to today! ;-)
  15. And I will provide the obligatory... "Can he block?"
  16. Well, what was $4+ up in pre-market is now $5+ down and hour and a half in at AFRM. I suppose it could be that the big boy banks are going to move into the pay as you go space, with the 10% cap on formerly free market bank credit card profits? That would be unfortunate for me on this one. But I could see it as a reaction to the restrictions in a formerly free capitalistic market. Big banks will adjust to the new government regulation, and entering the buy now pay later space that should boom under this executive order, is only responding to the governmental changing the marketplace. Or maybe it's something else. AFRM should be positioned to do better not worse off the directive.
  17. Just imagine how fucked up the handoff (if allowed) will be to the next President? Trump has already done his usual decrease in jobs production numbers from the jobs production he inherited. Don't get made at me for posting factual information. So now we have to "punish" Powell. Because he did not bow down to President Trump. There is still time for Powell to shower Trump with ridiculous flattery, and creating some fake award from the Fed. And of course cut rates to spur inflation into the 5+ percent range. Then miraculously the charges could be dropped. What I have found most interesting about the Trump administration is the complete emasculation of all federally elected Republicans. You hear an occasional peep, but mainly a universal bowing down to whatever the President does. Things which we all know would have collective lit the hair of the entire GOP on fire now is a shrug an a pretending of normalcy. It's the pretending of Normalcy that to me is the most terrifying. As folks I know have brains, self take delusions to themselves daily pretending all this is normal. Attacking Powell and Trump pretending he knows nothing? Please tell me some of the President's supporters here know that this is wrong? If saying you are wrong is allowed anymore? If not bloviate accordingly. The good news is my AFRM is up a little premarket! Paying on over time for stuff you want today I think is going to get more and more popular as the Trump economic policies fully take over the economy.
  18. You would think looking at the portal talent we just added we checked a lot of boxes that would be VERY appealing for an OL prospect to block for. You also never know who might come into the portal off Miami and Indiana for example from their depth charts? Do I wish we had some more warm bodies at OL? OF course. But I am pretty pleased at how my extreme worries at LB and RB have been addressed. Simply as my fear was lack of OL potentially was going to scare off the guys we just got! You also have to think from a purely budgetary perspective having Coleman, Smother and Biles aboard, makes you budgeting a little easier. I have a feeling we may all be feeling pretty fucking good about this crazy ass portal shit before long. But today is a beautiful day... and it's not over yet!
  19. Sooo....How long does it take to type colon, dash, left parenthesis?
  20. Retail sales will take a hit, because lots of folks won't have credit without much of a margin for unrecoverable losses. Banks will start cutting credit limits and other risk reducing actions in all liklihood. I have some AFRM that I am hoping gets more volume as more folks struggle with affordability and move more onto the "modern layaway" that AFRM. I thought about KLAR, but thought AFRM a better pick. I also wonder why the executive order was only for a year? When there is 5 year Bernie Sanders/Josh Hawley sponsored bill he could get behind? But that's a rhetorical question. Interesting to see Trump and Bernie looking through the same economic lens though in 2026.
  21. So from razor blades and a warm bath... to In Sark We Trust? VERY nice get, welcome aboard!
  22. Well I guess I can drain the tub and put away the razor blades then...
  23. Rooting for Old Miss to win it all now quite frankly. Mainly so that with a little more luck Lane Kiffin misses out on his what could have been his championship! Plus I like a group of guys abandoned by their leader coming together and winning in spite of the abandonment. The more I think about Kiffin crying over his spilled milk, the more I am feeling more excited rooting for Old Miss. And the sooner we can get Micheal Irvin off of TV making a spectacle of himself the better!
  24. good get thankfully
  25. Well it is going to be very interesting to see how the Portal closes for us this season. Right now, no matter what factors you use to grade Sark and Co, the grade is not a good one. What I am a bit concerned with is that the lack of success is now working negatively against us in multiple ways. 1) The unexpected defections at LB for example. 1) Might kids seeing that from the depth chart, they are now starters and deserve starter money? IF you were in a business where there was great scarcity for your position, and you were elevated into a high earning position of the former employee, would you NOT expect comparable compensation? Then we dick around thinking we have some badass on the hook and then the position gets even thinner. Making the existing LB's even more valuable, from a negotiating standpoint. 2) For whatever reason we did not hang onto near as much depth on the team as anyone here expected. I think that's a very fair statement. In sales for example every sales guy wants the giant account. But it's the small and medium accounts (with less competition) that pay the bills day in and day out. The elephant can put you over the top, but if you lose that elephant and don't have enough steady small and medium accounts you get fucked in the end. That is sort of where I see us now. In that it would have been cheap and easy to secure a fair amount of the kids that hit the portal. COMPARATIVELY, to where we are now. Bidding for a smaller and smaller pool of players. 3) We now seems are more desperate for warm bodies than we have been? And that makes us look more desperate. Which again drives up the costs of acquisition in a market with rapidly shrinking supply. With no Spring Portal there is no time for make ups, if we can't close quickly on some warm bodies we better have the most talented group of incoming freshmen we have ever seen to fill the potential gaps. Now it's possible that we close strong, fill the gaps and have some of the young incoming guys really step up. But right now, I am not in my usual "in Sark I trust" mentality. Mainly because there is no makeup exam, spring portal opening anymore. I hope that my fears are completely unjustified in a week. However, my concerns about retention of existing players is something I think going forward Sark and Co are going to have to get a better handle on. Continuity and Culture are truly the foundation of great teams. Right now we are very weak on the continuity aspect IMHO.
