  1. You are obviously under the age of 40, or have no regard for your life or for those around you. Ha!
  2. This is exactly what I've been doing lately! At our Central Market, skirt is about the same price as prime Top Sirloin per pound, but much more flavorful. Everything else is just too expensive. Once I get home, I marinate in olive oil, fresh lime juice, garlic, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, soy sauce and cilantro. Great tasting steak at a fraction of the price!
  3. I had been a couple of times and they weren't kidding about the garlic. I believe it was cash only too.

    U of A basketball game?
  5. How disappointing. I thought I might give their breakfast a shot. Those biscuits looked good.
  6. I hit Hurtado two weeks ago. First of all, I'm no BBQ snob, and I love when places live up to the hype, but I have to say this place was very underwhelming. Wife and I showed up at 10:30 as previously suggested, but there was really no line, just a few people still ordering breakfast. We went ahead and paid anyway and waited for the magical 11:00am hour to get our food. We got brisket and ribs only, with a side of beans and mac and cheese. No sausage since they said it wasn't ready yet. Really? The lean brisket was too dry and way over peppery for me, while the ribs tasted like they were left over from the previous day. Beans had a lot of chili powder, think Railhead, but the mac and cheese was really good. Without prompting, my wife said she didn't think the brisket was up to par either. I know I should go back and give them another try, but with too many other close options such as dependable Brix and Panther, why take the chance. Hopefully your experience will be better as I know every restaurant has a bad day now and then.
  7. No not yet. I'm going to wait until I have some time on a weekday and get there around 10:30. Have you done the burger too?
  8. How many on average are ahead of you at 10:30?
  9. Is Gusto's inside that new small hotel over there? Its a food truck that sits in the alley behind the hotel that you can access via the patio. There's a very small waiting next to the truck, or you can wait on the patio or in the bar. After you order they tell you when to check back, or sometimes they just come find you.
  10. Gusto's smash burger is legit. Get double meat and the tater tots.
  11. By definition it is a homicide, but he's yet to be charged. I assume it was going to be difficult to prove intent for murder, so I guess that's why FWPD sought a warrant for Injury to Elderly instead, since the victim was over the age of 65. However, this charge can be upgraded to a first degree felony under circumstances which I'm pretty sure were met. I did see he was charged with an Assault Bodily Injury-Family Member in 2012, but that case was dismissed.
  12. Hi-Q Locksmith came out to our house (Arlington Heights) a couple of years ago when my wife locked her keys in the car. I felt they were prompt, and fair. 214-938-0368.
  13. If you like weirdo and white trash people watching, this is ground zero! We go at least once every Vegas trip for the experience and are never disappointed. Additionally, Alter Ego is a local band that plays FSE and they are a lot of fun. Downtown is sketch, but I've never felt unsafe, however, if you're from a small town, you might be scared sh!tless.
  14. Wife and I were in the L.A. area for a wedding a few weeks ago and aside from the traffic, we had a great time. LAX is a mess too, but once we got our rental car, we headed to the Original Tommy's for a great burger experience. After that we ventured to UCLA to tour the campus and fell in love with Westwood. We stayed at an Airbnb in Santa Monica, had drinks at the quintessential SoCal beach bar, Big Dean's, and ate some amazing lobster enchiladas at Sol Agave. One night we went to West Hollywood for dinner and drinks at one of the Vanderpump places after spending part of the day at the Griffith Park Observatory. Overall, it was a good experience, and I could see myself living there someday if I could afford it.
  15. It's much better when they scramble the potato together with the egg, but usually they're too lazy to do that unless you ask.
  16. Was in L.A. last week and ate lunch at the Original Tommy's on Beverly Blvd./N. Rampart, just northwest of DTLA. 76 years in business and still cranking out great burgers and fries. No seats, just places to stand and watch traffic/people. Supposedly the place to go after Dodger games too.
  17. Deferred adjudication is a form of probation where the judge stops short of convicting the defendant and places that person on supervision. If the defendant completes the probation successfully, he has no conviction on his record for that particular offense, but if there are violation/s, the judge can adjudicate (convict), and then sentence the defendant to the maximum allowable (months/years) for that particular level of crime (i.e. 3rd degree Felony, Class A Misd., etc.). He will report to a probation officer in a unit that specializes in supervising sex offenders, but wearing a tracker (monitor) is up to the judge, and not an automatic condition of probation.
  18. Come on, give "Funky Town" some love.
  19. I haven't been myself, but I've heard great things about the Brick Vault Brewery in Marathon. It might be a cool place for a beer before or after dinner at Gage.
  20. Chope's in La Mesa!
  21. In my opinion, Trevor puts out the best Q in Fort Worth.
  22. 1. San Francisco 2. San Diego (Mission/Pacific Beach) 3. Las Vegas 4. Vail 5. Northwest Connecticut (Berkshire Mountains)
  23. Thanks for the heads up!
