The New James Bond?
Are we off Rege-Jean Page for this? He was great in Black Bag and could be a good Bond. Now that the Broccoli’s aren’t around to call him “too urban” like Idris, maybe he should get a look. Theo James would be good too.

Correct. JK Coe, who was mute for much of last season. I assumed that was the quiet guy. Min Harper got killed on his bike in Season 2.

Sinners - Coogler, Goransson, and Michael B Jordan
I saw it at the IMAX at Barton Creek mall. I know it's not the best IMAX, but the Bullock didn't get a print of the special ones that Coogler talks about in the video upthread (8-minute mark). I figured the other lesser IMAX's were enough. I did notice that it changed the aspect ratio in places, so I think it's close to the top level.

Nah, he's good. Well, not mentally. He executed the guy handcuffed to the heater after he talked Shirley down. He should have a much bigger role this season, based on the books.

Can we not do this on this thread?

The Amazing Race 37
Yeah, it was a bit, but at least they went back and told them. They took the advantage and then gave them the key clue. I was worried that they would totally screw them. The mom/daughter would still be sitting there if they didn't tell them.

Papers, please. Surly thread of deportation cruelty dominance
Quick update for the people. They raised almost $1.4M, which is a new record. Just a massive amount of money that should do good for those new immigrants who are scared and need help. Texas doesn't usually do well, but we ended up at #3 this year ($67,846), behind only Michigan (they have big donors on this and always win) and Protect Trans Kids University (why not?) and just ahead of A&M. I checked in daily out of curiosity and there was a huge bump for Texas one day, so someone must have come up big. Probably not any of you degenerates, but good on you if you threw some money their way last week. The best story I heard this year was one of the main Michigan donors called them towards the end of the drive and had them tell him what amount it would take to make the Michigan total end in 13-10 (last year's OSU game score) and they got it done. Pettiness for good. Doesn't get better.

Cool Pictures of Music Icons
Jenny Lewis isn't an "icon" like most of the people on this thread, but for the Oregon Trail Microgeneration, she's pretty important. I always thought this photo was fun and represents how people see her.

Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
These ghouls only see things in utility and dollars and cents. They can’t fathom interest in anything that adds cultural value to a community. If it doesn’t put money in the pockets of the “chosen” few, why do it? That’s why they keep trying to cut arts funding and they are not philanthropic people. Houston has some of the best art in the country because they had rich patrons who valued those things (and loved seeing their names on walls). The Medici’s drove the Renaissance period. This new batch are Philistines and assholes.

Sinners - Coogler, Goransson, and Michael B Jordan
Final tally was just over $48M. Good start. I was talking about the movie this weekend and I think 2 of the 10 people I talked to had even heard of it. To be fair, this is a lillywhite private school group, so they’re not scouring movie boards and podcasts, but pretty disappointing. When I told them about it, they were all really interested. It’s just crazy to me how outside of the day to day conversations movies have gotten.

The Last of Us coming to HBO
I mean, he pretty much deserved that. Surprising for sure, but I didn’t feel too bad about it. I have loved Kaitlyn Devers since Justified. She’s a great actress.

I have always loved Michaela Watkins, so it’s great to see her have a chance to cook.- Sinners - Coogler, Goransson, and Michael B Jordan
My review: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 There were 3 or 4 moments that I chuckled to myself because what I was seeing was so creative and good, namely the big musical number and the mid-credits scene. Really fun movie. I found the vampire stuff to be the weakest part, but the rest was A+.- Sinners - Coogler, Goransson, and Michael B Jordan
What’s the deal on IMAX? From what I see the only true IMAX is at Bullock and there are a couple of lesser IMAXs in town. Is it really that different? The Bullock times are harder for me to make.- The Amazing Race 37
Complete fucking narcissist. It’s always someone else’s fault. His wife made a bad choice. It’s bad luck. It all happens TO him instead of because of his choices. She needs to force a separation again.- The movie you just watched
A few VERY different ones: Chinatown - I read a book a few months ago about Robert Evans, Chinatown and the undoing of "Old Hollywood". That era fascinates me. I hadn't seen the movie in probably 20 years and it didn't speak to me at the time, so I went back to it. This may be a controversial opinion, but this movie is damn good. Definitely better than any movie about water rights has any right to be. Nicholson in KING mode. Drop - Had good reviews, so gave it a shot. Really enjoyed it for what it is. Definitely a throw back to the 50 movies like this in the 90's. Some of the tech stuff was a little clunky, but the tension builds well and it moves at a good clip. Very Hitchcockian feel. Megan Fahy is great and I hope she gets more shots. Sort of a random thought, but the opening had a very classic opening credits sequence that has gone out of style. The opening credits for something like Fight Club is still seared into my memory and I miss those. Magnolia - I started a PTA rewatch and got to this one. I don't think I have seen it since the theaters. It is still overlong and confounding in parts, but there is so much good in there. Easily the best performance of Cruise's career. The close of that section is just devastating. He could have easily cut the quiz show parts, and possibly Julianne Moore (bless her) and saved time. I love that late 90's Aimee Mann era and her songs fit so neatly with the movie. It is crazy that a 29 YO PTA was able to so clearly convey regret and the resulting pain from the actions of parents. A worthwhile near miss.- Daredevil - Born Again
I didn't like the way Fisk just orders a hit on Matt. They had their sit down earlier in the season, which showed there is a level of restraint and respect between each other. Every hero needs their super villain and vice versa. They don't want each other off the board, the game is more fun for them. They could take out those close to each other at any point and don't out of respect and not escalating things, then he chooses to kill Matt AFTER Matt saves his life? Doesn't track for me. Even if you accept the premise that he wants Matt dead, Fisk would want to be the one to do it, face to face, not by some toady.- Marvel Cinematic Universe the Endless Phase: Tripping Balls (Spoilers)
