We not playing LSU anymore?- Cedric Benson has passed away - RIP 🤘
He was a beast, loved watching him play during my four years on the Forty. Met him on 6th once or twice, but fanboi’d big time when he was on my AUS-DFW flight circa 2011. RIP, 32.- Time for another ‘my dog is awesome’ thread

Maintenance mostly, but a shitload of post-merger fat as well. AAL is only about 10% larger than DAL based on fleet size, but employs nearly 50% more people; DAL outsources the difference.- Game of Thrones Season 8 (NO BOOKSPOILERS) thread
Considering the fact that the zombie they brought to King's Landing couldn't break out of a wooden box, would reanimating the dead in the crypt really pose a threat from within their [presumably] stone tombs?- Game of Thrones Season 8 (NO BOOKSPOILERS) thread

Surprised Herman isn't attending this. He and Michelle could have a good time in Scottsdale, or so I'm told...- Time for another ‘my dog is awesome’ thread
Vicious had double TPLO surgery yesterday. Rocked it like a boss, but now resides in the Donut of Discontent.- Spring Football starts today
Despite our experience from the past decade, QBs hitting receivers on the hands and in stride is legal in the game of football.- Spring Football starts today

I give up booze (vacations and special occasions excepted) and one other random thing each year. Last year it was Shaggy, so Easter Day was spent trying to figure out wtf happened over there and where everybody went.- Time for another ‘my dog is awesome’ thread
Based on those eyes, that pup might commit murder.- To MBA, or Not to MBA?
Thanks for all the replies, definitely a lot to consider.- To MBA, or Not to MBA?
Already identified someone, and fortunately for me they're also UT undergrad. We'll see what happens. PE isn't worth much in aerospace, but point taken. Boeing's education program was gold-plated, and I'm still kicking myself for not pursuing an advanced degree while they were paying (wanted a MS-ASE but never pulled the trigger). Airlines operate on the slimmest of financial margins, and as a result do everything as cheaply as possible...that starts with employee French benefits. Also, basically what Eddie said.- To MBA, or Not to MBA?
Yep, but don't tell anyone.- To MBA, or Not to MBA?
I've seriously considered taking the plunge in recent months, but it's obviously a major investment/commitment and I don't have (m)any firsthand resources. My current employer only offers relationships with for-profit institutions, so part-time and 100% out-of-pocket is my likely path forward. But how beneficial is the curriculum, and is it more than a checkbox for advancement? Does it truly open doors, or is my resume just a bit shinier when I'm self-marketing? The McCombs-in-Dallas program seems like a perfect fit, considering schedule, location, prestige, etc...anyone here have experience? I have an Aerospace Engineering degree from UT. I spent eight years doing concept product development and generalist project management with a major OEM, then took a project engineering job with an equally major airline operator when I decided it was time to move home; in hindsight, I should've stayed with the former. Five years and multiple pointless re-orgs later, I'm as senior as I'm going to get without moving into the management ranks...peaking at 34 is depressing as fuck. I'm also not sure I love engineering anymore, so a non-technical degree would theoretically expand my career options. I'm sure there was a thread or two on the scat site, but I figured I might as well restart the discussion here...thanks in advance.- Millennials want to retire by 61, but most have nothing saved
Question...possibly a dumb one, but I haven't been able to Google a definitive answer: for the 401k "you should have X times your salary saved by age whatever" rule of thumb, is that referencing total market value or just the sum of personal/company contributions? If it's the former, I'm good; if the latter, I have some catching up to do. - 2019 Texas Football Season - "#8 Go Fuck Yourself Bitch"
