Ding ding ding! They are the reigning national champs of all hypothetical matchups ever created. Why play Texas on the field when they clearly would have won if the game was played?
My rationale was that only those two coaches have strong enough resumes to challenge or criticize Herman and not worry about finding future employment. We did have some issues in the OL group with Shepherd quitting the team, granted he is a nut case. All indications are that Mehringer and Herman are close and Mehringer should worry about finding future employment if Herman lets him go. But we are speculating based on a 9.95 report, so who knows if any of this is true?
I know we all want to believe its Coach Meh, but this could be Herb Hand or Stan Drayton as well. I don't think others would have the gall to badmouth the HC to the players. The way the OL has been playing and behaving the last few weeks makes me think there is a discord in that room. So my guess is it's Herb Hand, if the story is true.
Our junior class was ranked #25. We have had two top 5ish classes since then but most of them are young. With a few good coaches, even if they are just position coaches, Texas has a chance to be relevant again but with great coordinators, we can be great even with Tom Herman at the helm if he let's the coordinators run their sides of the ball.
Serious question to the board: why isn't FSU going after Urban? They are as desperate as any top tier program to find someone who can bring the program back up to the top and Urban has recruiting ties in the state.
I have seen Brandon Jones, a senior safety, wait in the end zone for the receiver to catch the ball so that he can tackle him afterwards. This is what we teach our players.
If you had told the fans in 1956 we would win 2 games in a year, they would be ecstatic. This offseason we are gonna have hype videos celebrating how far we have come since 1956.
We have got to create some stability (even if it means sucking all the joy out of our fanbase). When there is stability, you don't feel pain any more. /CDC
We are having a meaningless argument about whether or not Texas should hire Urban when the reality is that the coaching position is not going to be vacant this year. Thaler gave examples from real life to make a broader point. He said he and his spouse argued over where they would live if they took professorships at Stanford but neither had an offer from Stanford at the time. Some people are taking my statement quite literally and not looking at the broader meaning. Ok I am done commenting any further on this.
I think you are missing the point here. A hypothetical argument about what you would do if a certain thing were to happen is pointless because most times you end up pissing each other off. Thaler's advice was related to what he called "keys to marital bliss." I find many of those advice apply to real life decision making as well.
