  1. Paul is 66… South Carolina used to be a proud baseball program
  2. 17-20 on the weekend and in the NCAA tournament which is probably the most fair assessment. Not going to hold the midweek games against him.
  3. These threads become so unbelievably devoid of context it is amazing. Tennessee hadn’t made the NCAA tournament in 13 years when Vitello took that job… Comparing anything he has done at Tennessee to what Pierce has done at Texas is so disingenuous it isn’t even funny.
  4. It is not an elite job, USC has abandoned that program and they just put the final nail in its coffin with their move to the B1G. Times change and what Rod Dedeaux did in the 1960s and 1970s is irrelevant to today.
  5. Do you consider USC baseball an elite job?
  6. Well, this next week is probably going to be pretty telling on where the coaching search has settled with Bakich now out. I know you can't always get what you want, prying Tony Vitello away from Tennessee is probably going to end up in disappointment, but if you have 6 minutes, this is the energy this program needs with where we are headed next year. I get he isn't everybody's cup of tea but it is impossible not to see why kids love playing for him.

If I am Oregon State, I'm sending Bazzana on the first pitch

Ump behind the plate has a tin can for a strike zone, it started to fuck with his head and he pretty much lost command of everything, couple that with some shitty foul ball luck and you get a disaster.

Had a 97 mph fastball on the mound, really had no good option at his disposal

Evansville getting taken to the woodshed now

He was starting for them down the stretch of conference play because Jones was abysmal in conference play.
  12. I have to admit, that is such an odd dynamic with Jack Leggett as one of your assistants

What a fucking catch, might be one of the clutchest I’ve ever seen

    What is Bakich doing
  18. Texas just needs to build off the Yeti Yard. Do what Arkansas did with their left field, build an elevated berm out there where the floor is even with the top of the fence and charge cheap general admission. Next I would extend the awnings farther down the lines to provide shade. I think those two would be a good start. The Disch has enough seating.
  19. If this has already been posted then my bad but pretty cool for Teagan to get a shoutout from Caitlin Clark, Caitlin said they lived near each other growing up
  20. On the topic of the importance of coaches, people put way to much of an emphasis on the impact they have in the postseason, at the end of the day your best players perform or they don't. That is why when I look at guys like Bakich it concerns me way more that he hasn't won a conference title in 15 seasons as a HC than him only having 1 CWS appearance. Managers have much more control over what happens during the course of a 56 game regular season than they do in a double elimination tournament. Chase Burns and Hagen Smith are going to be for sure top 10 picks and probably even top 5 picks and not only did neither make it out of a regional, Wake Forest and Arkansas lost the games they started. Only so much you can do as a manager, making a run in the postseason takes quite a bit of luck.
  21. If I was a betting man, I believe Vitello is the guy Del Conte will flirt with and see if there is a realistic offer and path to getting him to Austin. I think the fail-safe is Bakich, because Texas could get him for almost half the price that it would take to get Vitello.

I know there is a video game board but I figured more eyes would see it here
  23. Who does? At least anyone that you would consider a legitimate candidate. I doubt he leaves but you never know where someone's head is at. Tennessee could potentially lose a lot from their team this year. He is more than capable of flipping the roster so I doubt that will factor into his decision especially considering he would have to rebuild most of this roster from scratch. Tennessee looks like they are more than prepared to push all their chips in for baseball and if he stays there he has the opportunity to be Tennessee's version of Pat Casey. Does he like being the underdog coaching at a baseball program with little to no history, or does he want to coach at Texas where you will wear a target on your back every time you take the field? Where being the villain isn't an option. You make him say no, because if Tennessee balks now that Texas is in the SEC I think he would pack his bags
  24. I could have wrote that. Is OB hiring?
  25. Appreciate it. Just saw it pop up on my feed and didn’t look to much into it
