Opponents hit .270 against him last year. He was more a quality inning eater than an elite pitcher that could mow down an elite lineup. Big reason why they rolled with Lebarron against A&M in the regional. The slider has gotten much better which is why he has taken a massive step forward, relies less on batted ball luck because the slider is a legit put away pitch. Last year he was pretty much Tristan Stevens.
Ruger looks fatigued, fastball is down to 92. Evidently Max and Schloss don’t think it is a concern. Don’t have any inside info to operate on.
See post above on Jason
This weekend is the last opportunity you’ll have outside of the conference tournament to take a look at some guys (Saunier/Howard) that have shown promise the 2nd half of the season There is no guarantee we will play more than one game in Hoover.
Cody’s last 11.2 innings he hasn’t allowed a run and struck out 13
We did start Grubbs already against Arkansas and he got rocked 2nd time through the order, his stuff plays better out of the bullpen. He doesn’t have anything to take the hitters eyes up, he lives at the bottom, once Arkansas figured that out they started teeing off on his slider
Flores has not been good in conference play, right handed Kade Bing, better stuff, higher ceiling, and worse command. He’s allowing 2 base runners an inning in conference play.
14.1 IP - 10 H - 9 BBs - 8 HBPs
Wish they would have skipped Ruger’s start this past weekend. Based on Schloss’ comments with Zach in his OB interview, Saunier or Howard is probably getting a start this weekend which I like, wish it would have happened this past weekend.
I don’t think they will but I don’t see the downside to starting Saunier/Howard on Thursday and keeping Ruger and Harrison on normal rest
Every team with the exception of LSU has battled injuries throughout the year, probably no team more so than Florida who was without their best hitter in Colby Shelton this weekend with a hamate injury.
Chasing the SEC title has probably been a net negative on the injury front as guys like Mendoza and ARod are probably playing because of that, when they otherwise could have used some time off
There isn’t a clear front runner for a title this year. I won’t go as far as to say Texas has as good a shot as anybody, but when Texas plays at their best there aren’t 8 teams with a better shot. LSU probably would be my favorite because several teams have 1 front end arm but not many have 2 on the level of Anderson and Eyanson. Those two will be tough to beat. Baseball though has a way of choke slamming you when you aren’t expecting it.
Will has steadily gotten worse as the season has gone on. Been pretty meh for almost two years now. Will deserves the majority of the blame, but I feel Tulo and the coaching staff is failing him as well. Now this, not good
I know it’s Schloss’ philosophy but there isn’t a single hitter that has gotten better outside of Galvan. Will Gasparino is my biggest gripe. 6’6 with all the power in the world and they have him up at the plate knees bent swinging leaned over, off his front foot, on a flat plane.
I feel like the rain delay and the fact we were down 2-0 overshadowed how good Luke was yesterday. He got shafted in that 2 run 2nd inning by Florida. 5 IP, 8Ks, 0 BBs on just 73 pitches. He was for sure coming back out for the 6th and could have gone 7 innings yesterday if not for the delay
There will be many teams in the running, but aggy has a nice third baseman named Gavin Grahovac who will likely be in the portal that we could definitely use
