lol wut
Cedric Benson was a freshman AA and went for over 1k yards with double digit TDs in an era where that meant more than it would now. He was getting 25 carries a game by October.
Baxter had a nice year for a freshman with half the volume, a nagging injury, and didn't really stand out beyond a highlight run against K State and a nice night against ISU. He was at/below 3.5 ypc in 6 games compared to 3 for Benson, who was much more of an offensive focal point.
I am shocked at how lazy this comp is. It would honestly be a better argument to rely on their shared first name.
To be clear, I'm not saying this to rag on Baxter. Cedric Benson is in rare air as college running backs go. And losing Baxter is not like losing a Cedric Benson.
Yeah that's what happens when housing is treated as a financial asset class and not utility/infrastructure. Again, this is where government subsidy fills the gap.
This. Government subsidy is ultimately the answer - and these are forms of subsidy. It can take many other forms and what the best way to deploy it can be reasonably debated; but the current situation is ultimately the result of years and years of disinvestment in housing and the middle class, and is only going to be remedied in anything resembling a timely manner by a proportionally strong public investment.
You are omitting by far the biggest culprits and focusing on popular scapegoats that do not ultimately move the market all that much.
Homeownership by individuals is extremely incentivized already. Renters are second class citizens per the tax code.
My impression between the insights on here and the reports of him making some splash plays are that he is your standard issue talented but flaky receiver. He's probably too explosive to keep off the field, especially with how much Texas is going to have to lean into the passing game going forward, but for fans used to watching talent and commitment on the level of Xavier Worthy, AD Mitchell, and Jordan Whittington he's probably going to look unremarkable in that context.
There should be a simple question put to her on live TV there: "She is the Vice President of the United states and a major party nominee for President. You are a member of Congress. We know you know her name and how to properly pronounce it. Why are you purposefully choosing to mispronounce it?"
The same applies to really any GOP goon trying to drum up enthusiasm by stroking racist undertones.
Black pepper being too spicy is a long held Minnesota stereotype. Getting triggered about joking around with that is just out of touch and, well, I'm not trying to pedal a talking point but it's fucking weird and maladjusted.
It's the exact same shit he has been doing the entire Biden presidency, the same stuff that had hop up 5+ in WI/MI/PA. The difference now is a Democratic nominee equipped to fight back, an energized Democratic voter base, and a decent chunk of the previous "double haters" being true to their word and taking Democrats up on the alternative.
Trump is going to get his 46%, +2-3 on that in swing states, which generally lean slightly right of the nation. It's what he got in 2016 and 2020; he's running the same campaign and he'll get the same votes. The job for Democrats has always been to assemble the coalition to beat that.
The fundamental mistake is assuming Trump is sane.
Prepare to be disappointed. The environment is shaping up to be 2020-adjacent and the transplant phenomenon and changing dynamics in South Texas are real, and counteract the emergence of Gen Z. Trump will win Texas by 6-8 again.
I guess I shouldn't have but I figured firearms were already banned at the fair seeing as you go through a metal detector and all. That's on me.
The sad part is I agree with the @atomheartbevo - the attention called to this makes me think "Great, now dipshits are going to bring guns to the fair in droves."
Blue was notably better than Baxter by the end of last year. The idea is that Baxter really has more of an every down profile than Blue and could take a bigger step from Year 1 to Year 2. Moot now of course.
Going to be really interesting to see what they cook up at RB. I am so glad the OL is where it is.
I'll go back to normal tomorrow but reading posts about this interview has me both cackling and allowing myself to entertain the notion that Kamala Harris is going to detonate Donald Trump in November.
... This would be news to me
But it is a flashing bright red light that you will get routed in WI/MI/PA
But also this. Remember how quickly this turned. It can turn back.
How many abortions do we think come out of the night of MAGA camping? What will the total economic impact on New Mexico and Colorado be from associated travel?
Senate's definitely a GOP lean. Would not be shocked to see Dems eek out a 50-50 senate if Kamala wins, either through Tester holding on or picking off Rick Scott. Allred is unfortunately dead in the water.
lol god damn it I'm never not going refer to Taaffe as this now
Jaray Bledsoe played tailback in HS. If we're going to go all Ian Boyd let's at least have fun with it.
I need to rewatch Veep.
I heard this via some in the weeds election podcast at some point in the last couple months, so no link, but evidently there is some research that indicates that outside of specific circumstances - mainly, holding rallies in competitive/purple areas - there actually isn't much polling/electoral performance impact.
But in general I agree with you. MAGA is melting down. Rallies are far from glorious at this point and Trump has had a lot more time to sit around think about the attempt on his life than when he had to turn right around into the convention.
You are telling on yourself, Galaxy Brain. If it walks like an aggy, talks like an aggy, thinks like an aggy...
I don't hate aggy. Y'all are weirdos but no reason to hate . It's not that serious. You are however doing an excellent job demonstrating why the rest of the world knows them primarily for stupidity.
I am sure you had a roommate at some point in life that went to Texas. You, however, very obviously did not.
