  1. Rules, like laws, are relevant (and real) only to the extent that force is both available and actually applied.
  2. He just went on his Mission for a year, right? I mean, it can't be legal for Mormons to do it while no one else is allowed... can it?
  3. Conversations will be had. Valuables will likely be exchanged. Texas... will prevail.
  4. You've spelt "stupid" incorrectly.
  5. The particular aircraft has a known issue with icing. Apparently not so bad that it should be shit-canned, but something to be careful about. The "aviation" subreddit has some interesting discussions going on, and I recommend reading there, not here.
  6. Fines should be available for game misconduct, too. Amounts would vary according to specific infraction, but also for effect. False Start on 4th and Goal from the one has a wee bit greater effect than False Start on 1st and 10 at midfield.
  7. It was the best of trophies, it was the worst of trophies, it was the cheeziest, it was delicious.
  8. PM Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and Big Bopper.
  9. Boogers On Your Wall just rolls right off the finger, no?

Dabo's Dream - Head Coach at Bama, walking in the footsteps of Saban and The Bear - is in ruins. He's not going to be cleaning up DeBoer's mess, not at this rate. Were I in Dabo's position, I'd be praying at least five times a day, and daily tampering with half the SEC and most of the B1G, aiming for one last shot. With a hearty "Oh, well...", aiming for a miraculous return to Clemson Glory and a finger for their lamentations, as they beg him to stay, even as he gets packed for a one-way trip to T-town. It could happen. Couldn't it?
  11. We gots all the bodies Steve needs. HC tells the OC what he wants the O to do, OC tells the OL position coach(es). If they don't get it done, HC fires some or all of them, and gets another year - maybe two - to try again. Secure that ten or twenty megabux, done.
  12. I'd hope that Morris is actually scout team fodder. Assuming that someone on the staff is assigned to prepare for next season's potential Floridas.
  13. Mizzou leaving meant diddle e squat. Nebby... meh, we'd already completed the football destruction of the non-qualifiers.
  14. Excuse me for interrupting the "No, your opinion is shit, my opinion is right" festival, but I guess I must have missed the answer to a question about Sark that came up months ago, and I'd appreciate it if someone could find it. What the fuck was going on with the team during the first bye of the season? How did we wind up being - or appearing to be - completely unprepared for Florida? Was the entire coaching staff drunk, or high, or busy chasing pussy, for the entire two weeks, including the actual game?
  15. Mechandising knows no race... ... or ethnicity. Hey, who's up for pizza?
  16. ... or The Other Black Friday - maybe.
  17. MLK b'day is 15th, no? Fuck the people who move it to a different date.
  18. Spent a couple of years at Oma's in Dallas while parental units were spooking around Korea and Japan. We got January 19 off because it was Robert E. Lee's Birthday.
  19. Prayers for young Mr. Shipley. For those of us who are unsure about prayer in general: Once you dig into it, I believe you find that you can pray, and it does work... and it doesn't require any specific deity or any supernatural entity. What it actually requires is imagination. That probably sounds screwy, but hear me out. I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who didn't worry about some things or something. It seems to be a purely natural "ability"... we pretty much all do it. When you break it down, it consists of little more than thinking about something bad happening... that is, imagining the bad whatever will come to be. That is the key here: imagination. Prayer is exactly the same as Worry, with one small, but hugely powerful difference. Where Worry consists of imagining something bad happening, Prayer is imagining something good happening. You don't need to specify how, just what. That's all there is to it. And just as Worry hangs around and pops up, from seemingly nowhere, just under your conscious thoughts, Prayer does exactly the same. You don't have to work at it, just plant that thought about good things amd let your imagination go.
  20. I was wondering if anyone would catch that. I just couldn't bring myself to write "green", forgot to go back and change Baylor to 0U, and when I noticed it was too late to edit. Didn't look like anyone gave a fuck, so I didn't bother to mention. Obviously the portal fuckery has made most all of surly forget about Meatchicken... other than most of their OL seemingly interested in getting the hell out of Ann Arbor... Psych!!
  21. "Third and a long 3 to go... just outside the Baylor 30... Cotten under center... the snap... turns left... hands it to Ramirez... off tackle he dives... powers down to the 27 where he nestles in a nest of red jerseys... and the chains move... first down Longhorns!" Names, not numbers - it was radio, man, we didn't care about the numbers we couldn't see. You're right, it was like being there. One of my uncles, who was on retainer to Humble and regularly got in the press box, told me Kern would arrive a bit before kickoff, hang his jacket on the back of his chair, unbuckle his belt, undo the top button on his pants, put a paper bag on the table and take out two bottles of whisky, one for himself and one for everyone else, take a big hit out of his, light and set, pull up the mic and start talking.
  22. Yessir. I was at that one, cold and wet. Pretty much my all-time favorite aggy choke. Near as I could tell, that ag who had the interception was trying to lateral it when he got wrapped up... all he had to do was go down and commence to savor the win. Perfection in every way.
  23. There's a 67% likelihood Gideon hires him, after he takes over as DC, after Boom takes over as HC, after Sark takes over as Dolphins' HC. Situation is fluid.
  24. Craig Way... #2 in my ears, but that's only because I grew up listening to Kern Tips.
