I was in Vegas (Alabama weekend) and had Oregon covering in a parlay that included Texas moneyline over Alabama. The Tech pick six to end the game allowed Oregon to cover so I was happy about it then. Little did I know.

Game Week 13, 2023: Texas v OSU championship edition
- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
I just looked it up the only 3 ranked matchups (at the time) they played out of conference were Washington State vs Wisconsin, Colorado vs TCU, and Stanford vs Notre Dame. The only teams on the entire PAC-12's OOC that are still currently ranked are Oklahoma State and Notre Dame.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
The same can be said for the PAC12 in my opinion. A few were ranked high to start the season. Nobody in the Pac 12 played anybody in OOC play and they won all of them giving way more of them lofty rankings than deserved. (Oregon Beat Tech by 1 score and probably should've lost that game). Then they just played each other with those lofty rankings and made it look like they were good. I said it earlier in this thread but I think we will find out in the playoff that the Pac12 were frauds this year. Edit: Utah barely slid by a bad Baylor team too.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
Just wait. In a few days time when we find out we are playing FSU in the first round, we will all be booking our hotels in Houston.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
So Either Alabama or Oregon get the 1st round bye. If that first scenario plays out I'm okay with them ranking Bama ahead of us so we can get the bye.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
What if Michigan, Georgia, and Washington all lost then FSU and Texas won. Now that would be a shit show. Everybody has 1 loss except FSU. lol- Game Week 13, 2023: Texas v OSU championship edition

A reason the big 12 may not want to screw us with reffing: There is a scenario where a Texas win could completely knock the SEC out of the playoff. Yormark might like that more than he hates Texas for leaving. Also being the early game and not knowing the results of the games to come probably helps our cause too.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
To be fair I'm not sure the Pac 12 is as good as the love they are getting. Oregon beat Tech by 38-30 and only because of a late turnover. No one in that conference played anyone OOC. So the only thing that makes them look strong is they all won their OOC games and then just played each other. Everyone is just ignoring that nobody in that conference played any tough non OOC games. I think the Pac12 could be fools gold and you could see whoever from there that gets in get smoked in the playoff.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
Texas' win over Alabama and the fact that they should have lost to Auburn is enough to keep them behind Texas if Texas wins.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
The answer will be the same as it is now. Sometimes there will be no head to head to consider, and sometimes it will matter for those last few spots. The 12 team playoff will still have discussions like this it will just be further down the list.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
Let's face it guys this all comes down to one thing. Whether or not the K State Athletics director is going to go to bat for us in that room to get the conference members money, or if he is gonna throw us under the bus just because he can.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
Completely disagree with this take. If Bama beats Georgia, Georgia would then be ranked behind Alabama. Texas would have a win on the road by double digits against the higher ranked team. Also I don't think the committee will set the precedent that head to head doesn't matter. If they do that, there is no reason to play tough OOC games for any power 5 team anymore. Everyone should pull an SEC and schedule at least 2 FCS teams, and 2 games against bottom feeders.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
It isn't about who we beat, it's about we would he the Big 12 Champs and the committee has shown they give conference champions the nod over non champions in the past.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
I'll come back and eat crow if I'm wrong but I really think a loss by Michigan, Georgia, or FSU and we get in with the Pac12 game having no effect on what happens to us (the winner is in and the loser is out).- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
Poll voters have no say in the playoff at all. The committee has shown that winning a conference championship has meaning to them in the past. The committee is not bound by anything other than the rules they come up with themselves so trying to judge this like it's the BCS or like the polls have any sway in this is useless.- THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
Maybe but I think a win is enough. No matter when the game was played I think the commitee will send a message that head to head matters. Plus I also think the committee will take any excuse they can to get Texas in. Both to have new blood in the playoff and to bring in the money having Texas in the playoff will bring in. Plus if a close win against OSU seems like a problem just go back a week when Bama should have lost to Auburn who was terrible this year. - THE College Football Playoff Rankings Thread [MICH,WASH,TEX,ALA]
