  1. Worst anger management class ever.
  2. The roof of my mouth is probably scarred from all the Cap’n Crunch I ate as a kid. It was worth it.
  3. I watched Schindler’s List for the first time a couple weeks ago. I have no excuse for why I took so long to get it. It was excellent, of course. Never seen The Wire. I’ve liked other crime drama series in the past.. Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Ozark, etc.. But no description of The Wire has been enough to convince me to start it. I’m sure it’s great but I’ve just never felt pulled in to it.
  4. Different color pebble finish too. WTF? Explain yourself.
  5. I did the Easy-Off method on a Lodge once and it was a pain in the ass. It was a total mess and still a significant amount of work. Later I did the oven method with the self-cleaning cycle and found it much simpler and more effective. A few people have reported cracking their pans that way but it seems to work fine for most, and has worked for me several times over the years. I made breakfast tacos this morning in my Smithey cast iron and the scrambled eggs slid around as good as any non-stick.
  6. Well.. I mean yeah. It's a fair assessment.

  8. Stripes kicks ass as long as it has a Laredo Taco.
  9. Is he still with that same needy chick that kept trying to sabotage his mojo in Free Solo?
  10. A 16 girl died in Frisco yesterday doing the same thing. https://www.kvue.com/article/news/local/16-year-old-girl-killed-in-sledding-accident-frisco-police-say/287-3cf941ed-2b97-474e-8f4b-d1145af14ba3?tbref=hp
  11. As far as just building fitness, I think the indoor miles are probably usually more beneficial. There's no coasting when you're indoors, no slowing down for a curve, no break at a red light, nobody next to you that you want to ease up and chat with, etc.. Rouvy and Zwift both have organized races, training programs, specified workouts for FTP, VO2 Max, or whatever you want to work on. Both have a screen full of numbers, watts, rpm, speed, hill grade, etc.. And there's other riders around you. They program in some ghost riders that are always near you, if you get right up behind one the trainer will ease the resistance a little bit as if you're drafting. They're kind of a translucent animation, but if an actual person is also riding the same course as you, you will see them and have the ability to pass them and crush their dreams as well.
  12. Mine is almost exclusively outdoor, about a 50-50 split between mountain biking and road biking. Generally, when I log single digit mileage, that was on the mountain bike. Anything more than about 12 it's probably me on the road bike. I do have an indoor trainer with a real bike attached to it and I just got the Rouvy app which is pretty cool. It's actual video footage of bike rides in iconic places, hundreds of them around the world. And not animated footage like Zwift. The app connects to your smart trainer and increases the resistance up climbs to basically match the watts it would take to do that climb in real life. I've only done it once so far, but as the weather gets colder, I'll do it more. For my first ride on it I had it cast to the TV and I went about halfway up Alp d'Huez, iconic Tour de France climb. It would drive me crazy to ride indoors every day. But the indoor set ups are getting better than they used to be, whether it's climbing up a beautiful mountain road in the Alps or staring at other tracts of land on Peloton, it's enough to keep me on the bike on the coldest days.

Who gives a shit? At a cost of somebody else’s money.
  15. Do the hearts leave a nice patina on the skillet?
  16. I have a Smithey #10, not too different from the Field. I love it. 90% of what I cook is on that skillet. Thick enough to get ripping hot to sear steaks, smooth enough to cook eggs without sticking. Typical breakfast is sausage or bacon with eggs all cooked in the same pan. After eating I just give it a few swipes with a dish brush under running water, wipe in a thin coat of oil, back on the burner until its hot again while we finish the dishes, wipe the excess oil off and turn off the burner. It's a little stained up but still as slick as the day I bought it a couple years ago.
