Fuck Alamo Drafthouse. The shitbag running the front desk at the South Lamar location fucked me over a few months ago. I had seen the pre-show message about the auto 18% "service charge" and so I didn't add a tip. On the way out of the theater I noticed I'd been charged for an item we never got. No big deal, I stop by the register up front to get it fixed. He looks at the bill and asks if I was planning to tip because if not he wouldn't be fixing the bill. That alone is fucked up, but it caught me off-guard and I thought I must have misunderstood the service charge. I asked him if it goes to the server and he said, "No, it goes straight to corporate." So, not wanting to fuck over the server, I added an 18% tip on top of the bullshit service charge and he fixed the bill. I get home and research it only to find out he was lying and the service charge goes to the servers (pooled or not, I don't give a shit). It does not go to corporate. They used to be great when they were the only place in town to get food, beer, and a movie. But there are way too many other options now to put up with that bullshit. I drive past my neighborhood Alamo to go to Moviehouse Eatery now.
My kid was there for a week this past summer. It's crazy how long it stays snow covered up there. Even in June the road to the other side of the park had not opened yet. Moraine should be good though. He was at Glacier Basin and several of their hikes around there involved hiking though snow.
She's not a cop who started on OF account. She's an OF chick who decided to be a cop, knowing the story would come out and get her more views. All part of the plan.
The refs of every conference are worse than the refs of every other conference. And all refs also have a long-standing history of hating my particular football team specifically. Signed, Every fan from every team ever.
My kid is another choosing between Arkansas and Oregon. Oregon gave him the same $12k a year that a lot of yours got. Still expensive but it's his call. I think he'd find more of his people at Oregon. He's leaning Arkansas because he already has a couple friends there and it's closer to his older brother and they'd definitely get together a few weekends each semester. Fayetteville is easier to get to and from for sure and I'd come up often with my mountain bike (which should be his primary consideration as far as I'm concerned). We have an acquaintance whose kid is at Oregon and was able to establish residency beginning sophomore year by staying part-time as a freshman and living off campus. Our kid has enough credits that taking 9 hours each semester as a freshman wouldn't slow him down much anyway. We're going to look into that if he chooses Oregon.
Hoping for speedy and thorough recovery. Thankful for the doctors, medics, nurses, helicopter pilots, ranch worker that drove him to the hospital, etc.. God.
I'm in for pushups and squats. Might add cycling on there too. I ride plenty but already log it somewhere else. For injury prevention I'm going to start at 60 every other day instead of 30 a day.
Some of you guys are arguing the same point from different angles. Money vs playing time.. it's the same thing. The money goes to those expected to have the most playing time and most impact on the game. If he's likely to move down the depth chart then it doesn't make sense to pay him starter money. Being a starter somewhere else gets him starter money. It's all tied together. Saying he's leaving for the money or he's leaving because his playing time is about to take a hit are the same thing.
I’m only about 3 hours into Book 1. It’s entertaining but I drift off with the descriptions of the weapons he gets and how they get used. I was never a video game or D&D guy so that stuff just doesn’t grab my attention. And even with some of the fight scenes I just kind of vaguely follow along like that there’s some big trashy fat lady giant they are fighting and beating but at the end of the scene I couldn’t tell you many details about how it unfolded How much of the details are necessary to retain to keep following the big story? His descriptions of the way it all started, the ex gf, the conversations with Donut, and Mordecai’s explanations of the world are more entertaining to me than the other actual game stuff.
As of late 2025 the occupancy rate for condos in Austin is 93%. Not great, but far from empty. My kids have tons of high school friends who live in downtown condos. Families might not be their number one demographic but there are lots who like that lifestyle. I lived on Barton Springs Rd for a few years during my kids formative years. Having Zilker Park a short walk away was as fun for them as the backyard we had later.
I have the same setup but haven't used it yet, other than the introductory ride. Waiting for it to get too cold to ride outside. Mainly got it because my son started riding and he needs a lot of miles before a bike trip we're taking next summer. I used to ride on a trainer a lot when they were toddlers and I grew to hate it. But it is definitely good training. No coasting, no turns to soft pedal through, no stops at all. Rouvy looks pretty cool. I never used Zwift but the video on Rouvy looks so much more engaging than the Zwift animation. I'm pretty impressed with all the courses they have.
