KSA funding Kush is pennies to them. They just wanted to ensure that they can deploy their money globally without US interference. KSA is one of the largest source of funds for start-ups through a network of VCs including SoftBank. They are obtaining IP via investment to modernize their economy and deploy capital
Forgot publication but read a reaction was that FBI was trying to warn Trump administration that Russia was interfering / meddling in the election. The FBI at the time didn’t fathom that the Trump campaign was coordinating with the Russians
Fuck that. The whole Republican Party is complicit. I bet in less than 4 years most republicans are going to conveniently forget their enabling of trump. We need a Democrat to have a veto proof majority plus the next presidency to unfuck all the actions trumps and republicans have done
Making a bet that no one in the trump family escapes this unless they have already flipped

Not sure on this comment but most if not all these companies have financing from China banks which will inherently require some level of government approval. The nature of government involvement is so integral to the economy that any comparison to the west or allegation of government support is non-sensical. You cannot exist without at some level of government approval. The larger that you become means that the higher level of consent / approval required. It does not mean necessarily that you are an appendage of the government. It is widely understood that going outside the unstated rules means you will punished, see tencent. China is a state run economy so while companies can be private that does not mean they are independent in the Western sense. It also does not mean that they are appendages of the government in the Russian paradigm. It is more confusing which makes analogies like Hugo unhelpful if not down right detrimental.
Except one is the daughter of a president / political leader while the other is a private company. Maybe if Steve Jobs daughter was next in line to be CEO of apple then would kind of be a comparable example
Not comparable at all Very common in China to appoint family members to key positions. She also has been almost de facto running Hauwei for the past year. She is seen as the successor
We wouldn’t waste on something so small
This is a huge deal

Tariffs aren’t really the main issue for US/ China trade. It is other barriers to market entry for US firms to be able to sell to Chinese consumers and lack of other protections (eg IP/ tech theft)
