Shitty game for the Nuggets. Leading but lackadaisical all game and it bit us. Bruce Brown needs to sit a lot more when Spencer Jones comes back and even more so when we get PWat back. Strawther is working on taking his minutes. Didn’t like Adelman’s rotations in the 4th. Jarrett Allen had a couple of awesome slams in our end of the court late.
Tough loss for the Nuggs. Had B2B’s of @DET and then @NYK and lost both on a hobbled roster on what ended up being close games. Cherry on top is Peyton Watson went down with a hamstring injury on night 2. Likely re-eval in 4-6 weeks. Fuck man, we can’t catch a break. But you don’t see me posting like a whiny bitch about back to backs.
And that’s a fair point, and we could turn Watson’s usage rate up if we wanted. My point is Watson’s recent comfort shooting from 3 with the blocks and steals that he’s getting is super rarified air. I imagine you saw the graphic, but only Kobe and KD have ever put together a similar statistical run across games before for points, 3p%, 3pm, blocks, steals.
More than anything, I’m amazed that Oklahoma City is able to drum up any emotions at all. An otherwise completely insignificant sports city in history is going to turn into the modern day NBA villain and I'm here for it. When my wife sees OKC on TV or someone wearing a shirt in public, etc., she says to me, “Fuck OKC”. Rolls off the tongue nicely like “OU Sucks”. Will be interesting to see matchups between Denver and OKC this year when everyone is healthy because by my estimation Peyton Watson the last 9 games has been playing how OKC wishes Jalen Williams played. I don’t think Williams has the potential to play at the level Watson has played recently. Jokic going down for a month may end up being a blessing in disguise for the Nuggets, because I think they just found a killer instinct and an aggressive scoring unit for those non-Jokic minutes we’ve never had. 2/1 OKC @ Denver can’t happen soon enough.
Thank you. If we wanted we could pay for Tegra Tshabola, who’s incorrectly rated more highly on the transfer portal sites, but had absolutely atrocious PFF scores this past season in a handful of games and was told to kick rocks by OSU. On paper tho, “experience and starts at the P4 level!”
Is that what the meltdown was for? I had figured it was the combination of losing out on all 5 of our highest targets in the portal and then losing young promising depth at LB and DB. Currently needing to count on an OT who has never started for us to come back from season ending knee injury and a returning Center that was only serviceable for us at best. The holes on the OL and LB are massive. The portal the last 24 hours has gone about as bad as it could have for us, Bo Mascoe excepted. It’s so bad many of us are convinced there’s something going on behind the scenes as to why we can’t overpay to get top recruits to come to fucking Austin, Texas to play for one of the blue blood universities in Arch Manning’s National Championship run. There is no better sales pitch for this transfer portal cycle, and we are basically getting punked worse than Susan Dell’s eyebrows.
This whole fear of pissing off current players by signing new ones is funny. Happens in literally every other job, including pro sports. To say you, e.g., have a hard cap of salary at $2 mil for any one player in the portal because that’s what Simmons makes and we don’t want to piss him off seems unnecessary, if we’re all in. Money Guy (Sark? BHarris? TOF big wig?): Hey Colin, we want to win a title. Colin: Me too. MG: Cam costs more than we expected. How does an extra 500k sound out of respect of your contributions and value to the team? Colin: Bet. Now Colin Simmons doesn’t make less than Cam Coleman.
For some reason I thought he was on campus this past weekend. Was he not? They didn’t list him as a portal visitor this past weekend. They were talking last week like was going to be visiting.
On Friday’s OTF, Gerry was wearing his “hi” shirt and made a point to focus on it a few times, which made me think he was giving his “hi” bat signal at least twice, likely 3 times. My money is on Isaac Brown and our new shitty kicker being in the bag, especially with the call out to UL’s gamesmanship wrt portal paperwork. Sprague is my best guess for 3rd already in, given how loud the Baker to guard noise was.
Curious, of those WRs in the portal, who would you take over Wingo? Drops aside, I don’t know if there is more than one or two players in the portal who have his big play ability that Sark so covets. I’m glad he’s coming back.
In fairness mid 6 figures is probably a range between 350-650k. Not my money or cap to manage, but 350k would seem to be good value for him. He goes to OU, he’s dead to me. Will not root for him ever.
