Cowboys @ Niners: NFC Divisional Round
I don't get this, either. The Cowboys made it to 50% of the Super Bowls in the 70s and 70% of the NFC championship games. They followed that up by making three straight NFC title games in 80-82. That's a hell of a run even if you acknowledge the Steelers as the dominant team of the 70s. It was a lot of fun and is in no rational way comparable to a team that has failed to win a divisional round playoff team in 27 years. To say that was a fucking myth is total bullshit.

Cowboys @ Niners: NFC Divisional Round
I looked at an NRL video on hip drop tackles, and rugby seems to be dealing with a severe manifestation. All of the examples shown involved a ball carrier who was already engaged in the upper body by one or two tacklers when another defender engaged low with what seemed clear intent to place his body weight on the leg. That seems like a circumstance that can clearly be recognized and disallowed. Interestingly, the one example they showed of something not ruled as a hip drop tackle involved a lone defender tackling from behind with his body drop just the natural movement downward that physically happens in a tackle.

I think that was determined a long time ago. Jones is a sack of shit. Absolutely.

Cowboys @ Niners: NFC Divisional Round
I read an article today claiming that the tackle used on Pollard when he was hurt should be made illegal. Like the horse collar tackle. What do people here think? I watched the play again and that tackle doesn't seem to be an identifiably dangerous technique like the horse collar. It just looks like one big man lunging to bring down another, which is what tackling is. You can't make it a nonviolent act. Sure, on slow motion you can see how the injury occurred, but in real speed there doesn't seem any intent to do harm. It's just two guys going down in a tumble where the positioning of each body is essentially random. You can't make simply grabbing someone from behind, or grabbing someone by the waist, a penalty can you?

Cowboys @ Niners: NFC Divisional Round
To be fair, he's a perfectly adequate, sometimes even good, regular season QB. But he doesn't elevate his game come playoff time, apparently because of certain limits in his ability. And I'd have to agree that, at this point, it's unlikely coaching or more reps can overcome that.

Danny White was quite effective for a few years until both he and the overall team aged out.

Cowboys @ Niners: NFC Divisional Round
I was listening to some of the post-game chatter, and a fair amount of it was how sick the Cowboys should be for squandering "their chance." I realize fucking Jerry contributes to this by pretending every year is the Cowboy's year, like it's some kind of birth right, but why does everyone else have to play along? It's been 27 years since the Cowboys won a second-round playoff game. Now, I realize Jerry and company have finally assembled a team with decent talent, but based on the record, all that entitles them to is recognition as a potential playoff team next year. They don't belong in any discussion of the NFL elite and won't until they start consistently producing meaningful playoff wins. But on the plus side, it was amusing to see that last play on multiple replays, with Zeke getting absolutely annihilated as Center.

Cowboys @ Niners: NFC Divisional Round
After all these years of futility, I really can't bring myself to begrudge anyone stealing some of Jerry's money.

He's an above average QB. Unfortunately, he also appears to be the living embodiment of the old cliche "Just good enough to get you beaten in the playoffs.'

Dallas Cowboys 2022 Regular Season Thread: Fuck Jerry Jones
That was an amazingly shitty game until Roger Staubach came in and took off. Thus ended any talk of keeping Craig Morton as a starter. He wouldn't win a Super Bowl for Dallas until the 1977 season, when he was playing for Denver. 😀

Dallas Cowboys 2022 Regular Season Thread: Fuck Jerry Jones
I think it comes down to whether they can rattle Purdy, which will require some at least intermittent success against the SF running game.

I think your guess is correct. He's trying to say that if the Ags had scored seven more points in each game they lost, their record would have been 10-2. So, yeah, if they'd scored more than they actually did, their record would have been better. Duh. To quote Vince Lombardi, that's just how losers talk.

Jimbo 2023: Watch.The.Tape.
Curious about your opinion. I know several relatively well-off Aggies who are almost normal. They all claim this current mess is connected Texas & Oklahoma joining the SEC as well. They claim even though A&M would never admit it, a lot of their money players got wind of it early and were badly shaken. They had envisioned themselves as the lead program in Texas due to being in the SEC and expected to have their choice of top recruits to feed Fisher. There was supposedly something like a panic attack when Texas and Oklahoma in the SEC loomed up as a possible reality, and that's supposedly why the bags got so big and numerous last year--to preemptively establish the Fisher empire. But they over did it, earning the wrath of their SEC playmates and making Ritz Bitz's well-established ego and personality problems even more inflated. Now they're stuck between a rock and a hard place and can only hope next year's team wins enough to create momentum.

Week 15: Dallas Cowboys @ Jax Jags
That seems a little unfair to Jacksonville. The Cowboys aren't their Super Bowl. They're just a losing team with a good attitude--they know they need to play better and are trying to improve every week.

Texas Basketball 2022-23
It feels damn good to actually have a serious basketball team with a clear and consistent approach to the game that is building on itself as the season goes. It's been a while.
