Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
A little sensitive, don't you think? Have a nice cookie and relax.

Negative Recruiting Your Own School: The aggy Screenshot Megathread
But what about our wholesome, God-fearing, deeply strange, and cringy Yell Leaders? And our dog cemetery? And our collection of ridiculous, pre-World War II, mandatory cheers? Not to mention the opportunity to play soldier on a campus of Brutalist architecture that would embarrass a hard-core Soviet. And the elephant walk? For God's sake, the fucking elephant walk! And squeezing your left nut? How can all that not speak to the kids off today? Just you wait you degenerate Sips. The sleeping giant has awakened (clap harder all you lousy 2 percenters). Texas A&M has a great future and always will have.

Mack Brown Tarheel Football: The Orange Slice Boogaloo
Mackovic wasn't a bad hire at the time. You have to remember our offense at the time was like something out of the Stone Age, had been for a while, the 1990 fluke aside, and the fan base was sick of it. Mackovic was brought in to fix that, and he largely did. His weakness was defense. Ironically, by getting fired when he did, he left the program in much better shape than McWilliams. The bad taste of that 4-7 season in 97 disguised a roster in relatively decent shape, which helped Mack Brown's regime get a jump start in 98. McWilliams left a total rebuild in his wake.

Tell Me About Texas a&m
Well, that's just part of being the hunted, right? People deliberately diss you on trivia questions. That's how you know you've arrived.

Hmmmm. Los Angeles or fucking College Station? Congrats to Longstreet for not being a hopeless moron.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
It's simple math, right? You want two years out of Arch, and if his upside is as high as it looks, he'll definitely be gone after his RS Jr year. I actually like Quinn, but one way or another, this is his last year at Texas.

Tom Herman 𝗁̷Fired by Florida Atlantic
Well, he did have to live there for a few years. I'd be bitter at that.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
Just because a line got written into a movie doesn't make it clever. Again, I'd lose it. Even if I was Billy Bob Thornton. It only sounds clever if you turn your brain completely off.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
"Hope in one hand and shit in the other, see which fills up first." ??? Is that supposed to be clever? I'll hope in my mind, like everyone does, and leave shitting in the hand to you. Hope you don't make a habit of it. Seriously, though, I'd lose that retort. It's all kinds of stupid if you give it even a nanosecond of thought.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
Yean, we hate our big wins. And if he was worth anything, Ewers would have thrown for 351 yards.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
Look, the coach appears to be set on Quinn. So that's done. Yeah, Quinn hasn't lived up to his hype. But he's not trash by any means. Just hope for the best.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
Not being an asshole on the Internet. Serious question. I think Quinn is a good college quarterback, not the awful cartoon figure caricatured at times here. But he seems more subdued, less sure of himself than last year. So, what happened?
-
Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
I disagree. Not saying he should replace Quinn today, but Arch damn well better be ready to be a full-time starter, because he will be next year. He looked like one when he played. even allowing for the imperfections game experience will iron out. Good God, can you imagine Quinn Ewers if he had Arch's touch on the deep ball?

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
He's had a few games where he hits it, but yeah. Anyone else think Quinn has regressed a little from last year?

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
We do have some good to great players. That doesn't make it our year by any stretch, even if Arch is QB. I've seen better Texas team's than this spit the bit. It happens. Just enjoy having a good team that's nationally relevant.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
Lighten up. I've seen a lot of years where Texas had a championship caliber team yet didn't win one. It happens. If you're tempted to lose perspective and melt down, Just imagine Charlie Strong and his merry pack of hapless coordinators trying to figure out which end of a football is up while truly bad QB play cements another ignominious Texas defeat. Man, we didn't even know how to execute the coin toss back then. Beating Arkansas 20 to 10 to go 9-1 while probably headed to the playoff looks pretty damn sweet by comparison.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
This. I've never seen a QB as good as Quinn can be who is more inconsistent with deep passes. That has to hurt his NFL prospects.

Tell Me About Texas a&m
Excuse me, but isn't that always true of A&M. And it's not a compliment. They stumble so close to self awareness. Come on Aggie, take that extra step. Just one more, and then you'll be free.

Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again
I think Jerry could cement his legacy by trading Dak for Daniel Jones. As an added bonus, he could keep the corpse of Ezekiel Elliott as the starting RB. What a stoppable force those two would be,

That's what happens when you play at the end of the season. The favorite has a full season's worth of data behind it. Also, A&M and Texas are rarely both on a roll when they play. Typically, one is up while the other is reverting to the median.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
It wasn't a perfect throw, but in my days as a receiver, it was what we'd consider catchable. Maybe 25% Ewers fault and 75% the receivers. But when it's 50% or more on the receiver, he gets the blame no matter how geometrically disorienting that 25% was. Cuz it's not exactly a walk in the park to throw the ball either. That said, Quin could use some improvement in consistency on deep throws.

Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again
Hey, at least we're still better than the Giants. Probably. Maybe.
-
Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
That is true. And Quinn definitely has his moments. He's a good-to-very-good college quarterback, but not a great one. I kind of feel bad for him, because I don't think his resume necessarily translates into the draft status he wants. NFL scouts will note that he's (1) injury prone; (2) inconsistent with the deep ball; (3) inconsistent with his footwork (a real red flag); and (4) can evidence a certain passivity in the face of difficulties.

Call Your Shot - Final Reg Season Record
Geez, the level of fetal position moaning in this thread is something else. What's the point of panicking on a Texas team that actually is capable of winning its last four games? Certainly the offense needs to be more consistent and play two good halves, but I'm riding with 11-1 and the SEC title game until another loss actually occurs.
