Was William Carey wrong to bring his faith to India? Was he wrong to help bring an end to Sati and to help make child sacrifice illegal? How about the schools and the hospitals that were started as a result of his theological belief that all people were equal and deserved care regardless of which caste they were in?
he was neither. he loved God and studied and grew to love the Sentinelese. Again, he went there to live there, learn the language, culture and ways of the Sentinelese. He was prepared to live there on that island for years. He had trained to learn the language, learn how to preserve and unpreserved language, to survive in the wild and to become part of their society. He wasn't a colonialist, he was a missionary. These two have very important distinctions that have been blurred (in large part due to the fault of early expressions of these two classifications which could indeed be both).
Obviously, you know next to nothing about John aside from what you have read in the few hastily written articles that have been published. John had built his entire life around getting to that island for 10 years. He first felt called to those islands in high school (he was 26/27) and had made most of his life choices around preparing to be on that island. His heart was to love and serve them and become one of them. He wasn't on a short term mission trip, he was moving there for the rest of his life or until they understood how much God loved them. Obviously, if you are materialist reductionist, this will seem the most absurd thing imaginable, but try to imagine that people can actually think differently than you. Within John's worldview, he was going to love and serve the North Sentinelese.
“You guys might think I’m crazy in all of this but I think it is worth it to declare Jesus to these people. Please do not be angry at them or at God if I get killed. Rather, please live your lives in obedience to whatever he has called you to and I’ll see you again when you pass through the veil. (Don’t recover my body). This is not a pointless thing—the eternal lives of this tribe is at hand and I can’t wait to see them around the throne of God worshipping in their own language as Revelation 7:9-10 states. I love you all and I pray none of you love anything in this world more than Jesus Christ.
Soli Dei Gloria,
John Chau,

i can't believe how many times I have seen this point raised. he planned to live there and learn the language. he wasn't there for a day trip, he was moving to the Island to live with the inhabitants.
I didn't recognize Idi Amin! So I was a few countries away. This may be the Blue Nile or something...this could be near Jinja in Uganda a few hours east of Kampala. What a crazy man. Evidently he is laughing here because an interviewer asks him about some comment he had allegedly made about Hitler not killing enough Jews. Doesn't that make this quite creepy?
that would be great. but honestly, i feel like i have heard of crews getting in trouble before. i know the results never get overturned, but it would at least validate all of our sanity if they were reprimanded in some way.
it's crazy how much this looks like the Chobe River between Namibia and Botswana right near Zambia and Zimbabwe. Where did you find that?
And I am still curious....about my original question.
seriously, that alone was a game ender. it wasn't even controversial. the guy had an awesome catch and took 2 steps before a forced fumble. that wasn't even debatable as far as I can tell.
I haven't ever received confirmation about whether or not we have the gigantic support staff we were supposed to have when Herman became our coach. I remember talk about us having a support staff to rival Alabama's and Clemson's? I assume that is true, but it is strange how little has been said about it. Can someone confirm and point me to an article that says as much?
well said TreeFiddy....i agree. i hope we pick up some real difference makers, though oftentimes difference makers emerge. obviously, there are some wonderful exceptions. I did get encouraged a bit by looking back at last year's class and remembered that we did redshirt some decent talent (i have just expanded the topic to all positions and moved away from your primary point). having said that, i would still love some sort of coup where we grab a highly rated DT....
if we were to get all of those, we would move into the #3 spot right behind aggy. Of course, that is based upon the current scoring and not allowing for who the other teams get.
I will be happy if we win out, regardless of whether or not we make it to the Big 12 championship, but I DO think we could make it back. WVU beating OU is very possible. Okie Lite beating WVU is also very possible. I wouldn't say either are probable, but both are possible.
I noticed that if we get Bru, our class calculator would immediately jump us up to #3 in terms of recruiting rankings. Of course, that is only based upon a comparison with everyone else's unfinished class, but it is encouraging.
You guys are clearly talking about Bill in Sinton....of course, I had to think about it because I kept wanting to say "Bill in Flatonia"....at any rate, it's Bill in Sinton.
oh man. Is that why i am getting so much grief? that was my MacBook pro auto-correcting. Very annoying. i was trying to write "aggy" and it kept giving me the wrong word. I didn't notice until after I posted.
