CFB coaching carousel
Seems like it was always going to be Sonny...all those other names (ex: Deion) were just for publicity. They may have had an informal meeting but that's it. It's a boring hire but there's probably not much that TCU could do. Too many better jobs available than TCU during this cycle.

Pig @ Bama - CBS
Cincinnati is gonna torch SMU. Sonny "G5 Good" Dykes too focused on the TCU job since he knows they want him badly

Texas Football 2021 In-Season Thread: Can we get a redo?
Sark will be safe for now but this loss pretty much leaves a big mark on his resume that will make it almost impossible to overcome unless they win 10 games in 2022 (highly unlikely).

Texas/Kansas game thread. fuck it, there has to be one
Impressed with these Kansas coaches...they came to win. Hire them ASAP!

There goes the shutout! The offense is back

I think Campbell has just been waiting for a good Big 10 job to open up. If Michigan State/Penn State is available and wants him, he's probably gone
-
Texas Tech to name new corch
Probably as good a hire as they could get. Not a ton of decent options for them - they have tried everything since Leach - the washed up SEC vet (Tuberville), the young offensive coach (Kliff), the experienced G5 coach (Wells)

[Game Thread] Texas @ Iowa State on FS1
This might have been the worst game since the Strong Era. Both teams looked lifeless but ISU just needed to string together a good 3rd quarter to win this one easily.

Definitely a winnable game...Iowa State does not look good and you can see why they lost to WVU last week

Fat Gary? He gone.
For Deion and Kellen, this is all for show just to get their names out there. They'll use it as an opportunity to interview, shake some hands, and network but that's really it. Out of the other names mentioned, Norvell would be interesting. I think he'd be a pretty solid move if they went in that direction. Considering his age, if he's successful at TCU, he's probably not going to use it as a stepping stone for another program

Fat Gary? He gone.
Good decision by both sides. That program was headed down the drain and Patterson was getting stale like Mack Brown's final years here. TCU knew they couldn't afford to wait it out and risk missing out on Traylor. Patterson can focus full-time on his music career

SMU @ Houston - 6pm - ESPN2
And that is why Sonny Dykes will always be "G5 good" but not "P5 good" Horrible decision to kick it to one of the best returners in the nation

TCU is done. Gary Patterson has reached Mack Brown status in his final years here. We will see if that school has the guts to make a change in the next 1-2 years though

Other Games Thread
Matt Campbell needs to take the Penn State or Michigan State job. He's done all he can do with Iowa State, especially if this is the best QB/RB he will probably ever get there

[Game Thread] Texas at Baylor 11am on ABC
Not surprised at this one...just not good enough. Outplayed and outcoached in the 2nd half again. Aranda is legit, he is all-business though - I think his next step is in the NFL instead of a bigger college program. Seems like he just wants to coach instead of dealing with everything that comes with being the HC at a top program.
-
Texas Tech is hiring a new Head Football Coach
The increase in salary will be tempting for any G5 coach but the question is if the coach would be making a good career move taking the job. If Aranda continues to do well, he will leave Baylor eventually. If I'm Traylor, that would be the job worth waiting out for. A few more underwhelming seasons and who knows what happens with Patterson at TCU too
-
WVU @ TCU ESPNU
TCU has the worst home field environment in the Big 12...you see other teams go in there and win all the time, doesn't matter if they are a better or worse team. At least Kansas can just say that they suck and have no talent.

Do we even lift bro? S&C program stinks
It's always a bad sign when more of your players are constantly getting hurt in a game. Didn't see one injury from OK State but almost every series, someone from Texas was on the ground after a play

[Game Thread] Texas vs. OkSU - 11am on FOX
I'm very shocked...didn't expect our offense to look THIS bad, even with a very good OK State defense.

[Game Thread] Texas vs. OkSU - 11am on FOX
Sark really got influenced watching OK State's Death By a Million Papercuts offense all day
-
[Game Thread] Texas vs. OkSU - 11am on FOX
Good...that takes a potential OT off the table. Nobody wants to sit through that

[Game Thread] Texas vs. OkSU - 11am on FOX
Should have let the quarter end first...bad decision

[Game Thread] Texas vs. OkSU - 11am on FOX
Not sure on that PI, that ball was uncatchable...WAY out in front. Not even Tyreek Hill could have ran that ball down

[Game Thread] Texas vs. OkSU - 11am on FOX
OK State has a good defense and Sark knows it. Don't want to force anything down there that could lead to a turnover - let OK State's offense prove they can actually do something. This is a team that hasn't scored in the 3rd quarter all year long lol
