Sam couldn't get the timing down with Duvernay on deep balls all year last season, and he missed him on one again yesterday. I hope he doesn't have an issue making downfield throws to super-quick receivers.
I had that impression because people were referring to the D line in general... Thinking about it some more, you guys are right - those statements were not about Omenihu. Probably more aimed at Hager.
Howe mentioned Quentin Johnston has a bunch of high level offers that he just hasn't reported. If we were wondering why the offer list on his recruiting site profiles is short...
The issue is with quarterbacks, you never know what you've got until they're thrown into a game. A lot of them end up making really bad decisions because there's just so much to process... I take a "believe it when I see it" approach with all QBs.
First run of that game - gains a few yards after contact.

Second run of the game - does a nice job finding the hole and falls forward for 2-3 yards:

Third run of the game - runs into a wall of defenders; still manages to fall forward:

Fourth run of the game - trucks a dude:

Fifth run of the game - runs through a tackle for a first down:
Nice job parroting back the box score, though.
The per player average in that screenshot only averages the number of stars each player has - so a high 4 star counts the same as a low 4 star. The actual class rankings probably take the players' exact rankings into account. So we probably had a lot of high 4 stars.
I was replying to a comment that implied Herman did not inherit a good quarterback - not making a statement about the broader discussion (Mack's starting roster vs. Herman's). Charlie made a great decision to offer Sam. We've gotten four-star quarterbacks every recruiting cycle for as long as I can remember - and if Charlie hadn't offered Sam, I'm sure we would have gotten another similarly highly-rated/regarded prospect. But he and Shawn Watson offered the right guy. Kudos to them for that, at least.
As for the loss to Kansas...
So Charlie offered a promising QB who had some flaws, but great potential. The flaws could explain the "hesitance" (i.e. due diligence and evaluation) that Charlie did before offering him. And the fact that he made the offer explains he saw the potential.
Great job, Charlie.
