  1. Is hot wheels junior running/sitting for a paycheck again?
  2. This morning I met people from Alberta which would be the part of Canada that does not like their prime minister. So I am listening to them and they get to the really, really scary term New World Order. Aside from this having been used in a long running WWE storyline, thus making me laugh every single time I hear it, the husband is explaining it. I stop them right there and remind them that this really scary term was once used during World War II in reference to the world and what its postwar order would look like. I explained in plain talk how this was a useful term and that hearing it said by your PM is not a bad thing, even if you are conservative and don’t like his policies. By the end of the conversation the wife told me I really need to be doing walking tours for places out here for the tourists since I can make learning history really interesting (how you speak about history and the enthusiasm you generate about it makes a difference in someone wanting to learn about past events.) I can talk about history with the same joy UT fans have in recounting Vince Young’s 4th and 5 touchdown. I also told them that they should not be indifferent about hearing TFG talk about taking over their nation because what sounds good to you right now is the thing that you will lament later on for having not cared enough about when you should have. Does that change their views on PM Carney? No, but the hope is they will remember to be loyal to Canada first and not their horribly racist and fascist neighbor to the south who would gladly take control of their mineral wealth in a heartbeat.
  3. I am not a fan of any punitive tax in pro sports. It drives down wages and makes the owners happy. I will not side with anything that helps them save money and drive down what the players make. A player is worth what a team will pay them. The teams with owners who won’t spend really don’t deserve free money that several of them are just pocketing. Spending monetarily does not guarantee winning in baseball due to how many pieces you need to be able to win. If spending could get titles in baseball the Mets should win far more often than they do as should the Yankees who are on 16 seasons and counting without a title with one World Series appearance during that span. The Dodgers just happened to get the greatest baseball player to ever play the game at the height of his powers in Ohtani and had guys already there who were great in their own right. Yamamoto being great was a known quantity in Japan, but no one could say it would necessarily translate to MLB. If someone really wanted Tucker they should’ve put together a bid with more years that had less AAV that would’ve at least made him think about who he signed with.
  4. This is 1st world hell, but it can go so much further down as a society. When things people enjoy get taken away by the government is when things will really get fun.
  5. Hopefully you’ll get your chance.
  6. Maga brother needs a shovel to the face ASAP.
  7. This is a masterpiece.
  8. I really, really enjoy seeing the Dodgers go all in for a three-peat. Unless Shohei misses the season they are winning it again this season. I hope they keep on winning every single year for the rest of the decade. I have no patience to listen to people complain about the Dodgers spending all of this money. If your team refuses to spend or doesn't have the revenue stream that the Dodgers have that is not their problem. Everyone should want their team owner to spend in order to keep winning instead of crying poverty while cashing revenue sharing checks with ZERO intent to put that money back into the club.
  9. I would more accurately set the timetable of when the starting point was at 1948. It seems like this is all happening quickly, but alot had to happen in order to arrive at this destination. Germany didn't just arrive at the nazis taking power in 1933. The beginning of the cycle would've been the Franco-Prussian war. A longer view of history is needed in order to accurately understand how and why a nation arrived at the point that both Germany did in 1933 and now the United States in 2026. Sorry things like this just always irk. I try to strive for a more complete picture of everything that happens in history and not just a snapshot of what is clearly a much longer and winding road that got us here.
  10. This is definitely an all-time post on Surly. You’ve got quite the sense of humor and self-deprecation. Good on Texas for beating two highly ranked teams in a row and perhaps turning their season around.
  11. If people really want to organize a resistance it’ll have to be done quietly and not put in the open. Resistance against fascists works when done in secret. It also is going to require people to change their lifestyle entirely. Also it’ll be hard for Americans to replicate any historical forms of resistance because, well, we are now the “decadent Americans” Japan thought we were in the 1930’s. They nailed the description, but we’re a few decades off in it truly becoming a reality. We have too much of everything. How many here are truly willing to see your lifestyle reduced from what it currently is? How many will sacrifice the amount of money your bank account takes in on a monthly basis? When people talk resistance I do not believe that Americans are as willingly to continually protest against their government as, for example, what the indigenous people of New Caledonia have done against France. Those who have little to lose are more eager to have their voice heard than those who live comfortably. We live good lives monetarily here in comparison to most of the world. The one aspect that the cronies for TFG completely get is that Americans will not bring the economy to a screeching halt because people don’t want to lose their jobs and the access to new shiny things when they want them. Millions upon millions of Americans would have to in unison just stop working and bring the economy to a grinding halt. Would I do that if that is what it would take? I would, BUT I should preface that I would do it because I am not married and have no kids. Many of you are inching closer to retirement and don’t want to see that schedule delayed by stopping work for what could be many months or a year’s worth. I understand the reluctance there. You can’t afford to strike and see your children do without. TFG knows this and he has millions of you stuck in no man’s land because of it. Until America gets to that point, talk of resistance means little if there is no actual concrete plans that back it up.
  12. I would go that far because anyone taking the position that Abbott gave him, with respect to the education of Texas children, means that either he is a) a clueless person who doesn’t know what Abbott is doing b) wholly unqualified to take the position in a normal society or c) both. He has zero background in education. ZERO. Yet this qualifies him to take this position. Set aside that he was a QB for UT during the good times for the program. Look at this guy if he were some guy named John Williams, a man with no qualifications for his new position, and then think how it looks. How dumb do you believe Colt is in respect to siding with the fascists?
  13. You don’t have to be religious in any way, shape, form or fashion to agree with the intent of the message. This is the kind of church I am used to going to (Sang in a Baptist gospel choir in both Oak Cliff and in The Bronx) and these are the Christians I find commonality with and not the fascist white nationalist frauds running the country.
  14. Will there be a place on it like the High 5 where people can choose to join Charlie sooner rather than later?

  16. It is the I made it here and the ladder got pulled up right after I made it line of thinking. Selfish and self-serving so pretty much your average American. Yes I will laugh when Hispanics who oppose abolishing ICE get shipped back. It will be funny and a FAFO worth moment EVERY SINGLE TIME.
  17. Gift link to Giri Nathan’s article on Defector today. As always Defector will write what the cowards in the media will not and they do so because they own the company and not some idiot billionaire. There is no boot he won’t lick, no s
  18. Ladies and gentlemen that’s our stable genius in action!
  19. I think sometimes that when you see this you have to pull them aside and let them know that what they’re doing isn’t cool. You explain your reasoning and how Jesus would have been tolerant of the beliefs of other people. If at that point Colt or his dad keep doing it find the nearest shovel and give it to one of them for being intolerant fascist Christian frauds. I posted in the High School 2025 thread about Mike Robinson. Coach Robinson passed away the day after Christmas and was a lifelong member of the CofC, starting when he grew up in Gainesville. He walked the walk and helped everyone. He came from nothing, but his faith was used to better the lives of young folks who needed some direction and love. Not everyone that is in church is like these fascist Christian frauds. I keep my faith mostly to myself and love hearing about how others believe. We’re all different, but people who treat others as a lesser than because they don’t believe the same way they do makes them trash people in my book. Maybe Colt is just wealthy white fascist trash?
  20. I think if you are like me and follow it only to the point of seeing what new faces will be on your team it’s okay. If you treat this stuff like it’s life or death then you will absolutely be stressing out on things. None of it matters. These guys are paid out in the open now and are purely entertainment. No more and no less. I hope the new guys ASU gets will make them better, but if not it’s cool.
