  1. 17 is a lot, that cannot be disputed. It's an interesting look into what roster building looks like these days when done properly. It's one part of the greater tapestry being woven, but it's informative nonetheless. 2021 - Sarkisian and company arrive and immediately assess their roster as fundamentally deficient. Options include forced attrition immediately or working to keep key talent happy by not burning the roster to the ground. Assessing the class of 2021, they mostly let the committed guys sign, feeling like some key elements were there. 2022 - Sign the most talented guys the program can, but also take some culture guys who can play if you squint hard enough. Got to get bigger on the OL. Push dead roster weight out. Get portal help ASAP. 2023-forward - Don't sign anyone who a coach can't stand up and swear to as a potential SEC starter. Don't load up on portal guys, difference makers only. No reason to really push guys out to clear roster space. Players will leave on their own via the portal for more PT. I view that class as a bit of an anomaly. Looking back, it was a bridge class. We didn't see it that way at the time. Interestingly, Bo Davis did. He told a buddy "hey, when we got to Tuscaloosa, we had to sign the John Square types then too. Gotta start somewhere." His takes from that cycle largely sucked, but Texas couldn't get in on the big time DLs yet.
  2. So it's Bama -13.5 at Doak Campbell? I'd still give the points in a heartbeat. Mike Norvell's buyout is going to keep his job for him for a bit, but the game has caught up to him and then some. FSU was one of the first to really focus on winning in the portal and they had their pick of the litter out of the gates. Not any more. They are starting this year the following guys on offense who are homegrown: <crickets chirping>. Zero guys. The guys they will be starting were a bunch of players from other programs who were casted off or at small schools. Roydell Williams from Bama. Squirrel White from Tennessee (but he's so fast! can he catch?). Duce Robinson from SC. The dipshit loudmouth who was benched at BC is now the starting QB for them. The OL is likely to be 5 guys from 5 different programs that are all on campus for the first time. Defensively, they have like 3 homegrown starters. Most of the defenders they've brought in to start haven't even been full time starters at their prior stops in Bama, Nebraska, UCF, Syracuse, etc. That is a program that lost its soul when they lost their QB and their CFP appearance and they won't see daylight again until there's regime change, if then. I actually hope "The Snub" is a curse that sits on top and shits on top of that fucking place for the next century. No one has been given the benefit of the doubt more when it comes to getting special treatment for title contention than FSU. And they stunk it up every time they were the team that got helped out into the CFP or BCS title game. They get it in the other direction one time, can't get over it, and the rest of us have to hear about it. Take Alabama all the way up to 28 points. They're going to crush FSU.
  3. Eleven Warriors projects the OSU 3 deep based on practice observations and insider discussions. Image below. Nothing incredibly surprising. There's debate about Atkinson over Curry and some athletic freak named Julani Thurman not being listed at TE. From the thoughts of people who have been to their practices, the Thurman guy has skillets for hands. Bo Jackson is kicking ass in their fall camp and a few of the mods believe he'll pass Donaldson, if not Peoples, at some point this season.
  4. Honestly, for all of the "culture shift" talk from the aggies, those clips do not look good at all. Multiple guys are visibly half-assing their plays and there appears to be no recourse for it. Not great, Bob, if you're an aggie.
  5. Here's Karels breaking down his observations on the offense at practice last night. It seems kind of obvious that Reed sucks in the passing game, but it's going to take aggies a while to get there.
  6. Gerry reviewing the 2022 class spoilered below. For those that get upset about the thread meandering, note that this is a guy who lives and breathes recruiting and all he's got to work with right now are class reviews. It's just dead. Highlights: -There are numerous guys who left that are now starting or fighting to start at other P4 programs. Bledsoe at MSU, Bryant at Vanderbilt, Finkley at KU (I think), Brenen Thompson at MSU, Murphy at Oregon State, Austin Jordan at TCU, Agbo at WVU and Swanson at ASU. -Multiple other guys are at G5 and starting. -Bottom line is that a lot of this class was recruited over, so the guys had to leave to get more snaps elsewhere. Excluding the OL, of course, which is the saving grace of this class.
  7. Right now on this board, one of us reading and posting on here is the dumbest of all of us. Half of us are dumber than the rest of us. I feel pretty confident that I am not the dumbest. I feel pretty good about being above what we've all come to call the "BurntOrange&White Line" in which I'm above the 50% cutoff. The seas really get rockier from there. Some of you have truly dizzying intellects.
  8. From Bobby in today's thread letting more info out. If he's got the okay, we're okay. "Wingo is back. He was truly dehydrated. That’s not a one day return. Campbell was a mild concussion. Granted that’s the first time I’ve mentioned the concussion with Campbell but there’s a reason for that. Unsure why you’re not buying it or what there is to buy. You guys have to trust us a little at least by now."
  9. The Aggie247 guys seem to revel in the feeling of walking on the razor's edge with The Elk. They colored outside the lines too often last year and received one practice suspension and several phone calls in which they were upbraided and threatened. Posting this kind of stuff is why Liucci's crew gets to attend numerous practices that Karels and Tarp do not. I'd like to hear Tarp speak candidly about Elko over a beer. You can tell in his writing that he really doesn't like the guy.
  10. Both guys were back and practicing yesterday, no? And no, I don't think drinking was an issue. Many of these guys on this team are "my body is a temple" types with NFL aspirations, from what I understand. Yeah, I don't think there have actually been any true "personal issues" up to this point.
  11. “We have top 5 talent “ is a refrain that has started cracking me up. The Elk has gone out and sold that to the masses and he’s had his media carnival barker yelping it everywhere he isn’t. The notion has taken hold, not just with the aggies but with the Pates and SEC honks of the world. This has happened without any actual examination of the facts.
  12. Are you calling the guy a T-Rex?
  13. I was purposeful in my wording in order for logic that you espouse here. They weren’t “good”, but you guys were maligning their seasons and both were above historic (post 1960 for Minnesota) standards for their programs. Vandy isn’t sneaking up on anybody this year. I love Pavia, but it’s a tough ask to walk into Tuscaloosa and Austin and pick a giant off in either place. If I squint, I can see 6-6/7-6/6-7. I agree on Kotelnicki. He’s highly regarded and what he ran with Liepold was sophisticated. James Franklin is a rape-enabling pussy and he’s the problem for PSU’s offense. I have ZERO doubt that that penis lookalike is going to shrivel up like George Costanza against Ohio State. Probably Oregon too, but OSU is a given. Franklin is the worst kind of villain in college football. A true weasel with a history of doing bad shit but then … he’s also really boring and predictable.
  14. I think we can comfortably surmise that one of them was the guy who was severely dehydrated. Bobby wouldn’t say who that was at the time. I have heard from multiple people that Williams’ hamstring continues to be a bugaboo of his carrying over from the spring. I hope he can keep it loose from here.
  15. To be clear, Minnesota wasn’t a bad team last year. Vanderbilt wasn’t a bad team last year either. They both might be pretty good this year. Why are they being implied here as bad teams? Minnesota might win 9 or 10 games this season given a forgiving schedule.
  16. Not only that, Texas gets a chance to play the guy.
  17. I think Downs is one of the best defenders in CFB without question. That said, part of why Barron won the Thorpe is because Downs’ numbers were trash. He changes games and that sometimes doesn’t show up in the counting stats, but you figure he’d stumble into a few more than zilch in some categories. Note: this predates the playoff run and I haven’t looked to see how those games may have changed his numbers. Pre-playoffs, he had a bunch of tackles and little else.
  18. I thought about posting his picture as the epitome of aggie and then I thought “these bastards can’t help themselves, he’ll get posted. “ Surly FTW!
  19. There are much smaller stadiums in both the ACC and Big 12. Sure, BYU isn’t one of them, but have some perspective.
  20. One of my favorite stories of genius obsession leading to historic greatness. Hendrix wore everyone around him out working through getting that song perfect. Some have argued that is cosmically contributed to his untimely death not long afterward. Is this Joseph Addai? Or is there another Sharpstown alum with whom I should be familiar?
  21. Food, particularly Texas-related food, and music. Both of these things are wildfire when it comes to magnetizing the worst kinds of fucking dorks residing on this site. The only thing more dangerous to play with is politics. How do we take things in a different direction here? Should I just make up some recruiting shit?
  22. Here's an article where Tarp is trying to gently let his readers know that their DTs this year are very likely to blow goats.
  23. Here's an article from Tarp gently trying to warn his fanbase that Marcel Reed pretty much sucks:
  24. Regarding ATM's schedule: 8/30 6pm - UTSA – Everyone is chalking this match-up in ATM’s favor to the point of it being a blowout. Maybe that happens. That considered, UTSA returns their QB, TB, 2 WRs, TE, 4 OL starters and 8 out of 11 starters on the defense. Traylor’s a good coach, this was a bowl team in 2024, and he might see this as an opportunity to interview for the future ATM job opening. I expect a close game. Like ATM, UTSA is loaded with former highly ranked players who fled their original teams for the portal. There is a pedigree of talent on the UTSA roster. 9/6 11:45am – Utah State – These guys fired their HC after going 4-8 and hired Bronco Mendenhall, who is on one of the weirdest coaching journeys this side of Dick Rod. They were decimated by the portal but do have Bryson Barnes, formerly of Utah “Pig Farmer” fame. Looks like a grim one for the aggies. The Utah State Aggies. 9/13 5:30pm - @ Notre Dame -Notre Dame returns a lot of talent. 54 starts on the OL 2 deep, Greathouse, Love, and 6 starters on defense. They have question marks at QB, TE and explosiveness at WR. Love might be the best returning RB in the country and the OL is going to be good. Freeman knows defense as well as anyone. I don’t expect a blowout, but ATM is an institutional disaster when it comes to big road games. 9/20 – OFF 9/27 5-7pm - Auburn - A lot of people are sleeping on Auburn for 2025. Maybe that's justified, I don't know. Freeze has been a disappointment. Arnold has been a disappointment. But, Freeze has recruited really well. Auburn has, potentially, an amazing WR corps. They return 3 OLs, a likely 1st round pick at Edge and the entire secondary except Jerrin Thompson. DJ Durkin has yet to kill anyone there, also. This one should be physical. Auburn is coming off of a road game at OU and this will be too much for them unless they’ve really turned a corner. 10/4 5-7pm – Mississippi State – If Shapen is healthy, MSU should be a better team this season. They return tons of experience and they have talent on defense. I’d be stunned if they beat ATM, but I will also be stunned if this is a blowout. 10/11 2:30-7pm - Florida – If Lagway is healthy, this is a team with enough talent and experience coming back to remember the beating ATM put on them last year in The Swamp. 10/18 2:30-7pm - @ Arkansas – Arkansas got beat up by the portal, which is embarrassing. They kept their QB, though, and he’s capable of giving someone fits. The DC, Travis Williams, had an excellent gameplan last year at home against Tennessee and they stupefied Iamaleava all game. I could see Arkansas doing this against ATM in this spot, as it’s a sandwich away game between the big Florida game and going to Death Valley the following week. Still, Arkansas seems to go out of their way to lose this game on an annual basis, so my expectations are low. 10/25 2:30-7pm - @ LSU - I did a write-up on LSU on a recruiting thread discussion and I've spoilered that below. The bottom line is that LSU is going to be good this year, but they're also not a top 10 team. Nussmeier gets a ton of credit for being a guy that can really hit a 10 yard out or dig decently. 11/1 - OFF 11/8 2:30-7pm - @ Missouri – Mizzou was a paper tiger in 2024 and everyone knew it. Once they were exposed later in the year, the bloom was off the rose for 2025 expectations. They lost key talent all over the field. I expect them to struggle to get to a winning record. (I wrote this for them in my OU schedule write-up from June. I’ve since read more on them and looked at their schedule and disagree with the preceding sentence.) – If Pribula is decent, Missouri has transfer talent at RB (ULM’s Hardy) and WR (MSU’s Coleman) plus most of their OL is returning, as is much of the defense. ATM made a mockery of Mizzou in BCS last year and this game will be circled on a weak schedule for Missouri. ATM sucks on the road. I expect this to be a match-up of ranked paper tigers, at best. 11/15 11am – South Carolina - SCar has two of the best players at their position in the country in Sellers (QB) and Stewart (Edge). They have to replace a metric ton around both of them. SCar is going to be overranked heading into this season and, by that, I mean they'll be ranked. Still, I'm sure they'll be a tough team and they certainly have no fear for ATM after last season. 11/22 11am – Samford - Another brave scheduling choice by them Fightin’ Texas Aggies! These FCS games can get fucked. 11/28 6:30pm - @ Texas – If Texas is healthy, I expect Sarkisian to let his team get biblical on this ATM team and send a message to everyone involved with football in this state. 12/6 3pm – SEC Championship Game - LOL Outlook: ATM is going to open the season ranked, yet again. I didn’t go further back than 2018, but only in 2018 and the absurd 2020 season has ATM finished a season ranked higher than when they started and, for the most part, they haven’t finished ranked at all. Then we see the same process each offseason. “Moves are made” and “player X is really coming on” and then Liucci and his PR machine go out and sell to anyone and everyone that this coming season, the sleeping giant will awaken! And then ATM usually shits itself and we all point and laugh. I don’t see the outcome being any different this season. They’ve convinced themselves and anyone who will listen that they’re a tough out who has a lot to play for with a talented roster. The problem is, the roster isn’t that talented. Luckily for ATM, their schedule is a pretty lame draw in the SEC, avoiding Bama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. I see losses to Notre Dame, Texas and LSU, all being road games. They’ll inevitably flub another game or two and then choke a bowl game away. Same shit as always.
  25. Some of you guys could fuck up a wet dream. No one wants to hear bitching about a preseason poll. Looking at that shit and getting excited about it and analyzing it and discussing it with other board denizens is the whole fucking point of a board like this. You're probably the same rubes who show up to bitch about all of those damned meaningless bowls, by golly!
