  1. Well, I enjoyed both write-ups. Also, McGinley I like, but his character on Shrinking is a hero of mine. Not in the age range quoted and I still wish that was a real life dude that I lived next door to, à la Jason whatever in that show.
  2. Gerry from this morning: Best Class Scenario (first for 2027) It's time to break out the first best class scenario for the 2027 cycle. After most of January on the road for the Texas staff, there are some prospects that were offered and immediately ascended towards the top of the board at various positions. And there was also more evalutions on the OnTexasFootball side when comparing some prospects. The first Best Class Scenario for the 2027 cycle is the Texas class currently, intel learned and my opinion on the best prospects in the cycle Texas is trying to recruit. As is always the case, the industry rankings will catch up with a lot of prospects later this spring. And also as always, this list will be fluid as more prospects will be offered in the spring, and more will be learned on prospects in the coming months. OTF Ranking system: 5-star: obvious 4-star++: top 75 level prospect nationally 4-star+: top 150 level prospect nationally 4-star: top 300 level prospect nationally 3-star++: top 375 level prospect nationally 3-star+: top 500 level prospect nationally 3-star: obvious QB Ty Knutson, Spring Branch (Texas) Smithson Valley #AllGasNoBrakes OTF Ranking: 3-star++ RB (2) Landen Williams-Calis, Richmond (Texas) Randle OTF Ranking: 4-star++ OV date: June 19-21 (likely) Lathan Whisenton, Waco (Texas) Midway OTF Ranking: 4-star OV date: June 12-14 WR (3) Easton Royal, New Orleans (La.) 3. Okay, well, still cool.
  4. Awesome. Here is my dumb question of the day, but I’ve never really understood this and now it kind of matters - does this count as an actual NCAA national title?
  5. I didn't realize Fertita bought Keen's. Of course that's why it's fallen off. Christ.
  6. This is all good stuff, thank you. I sent this page's link to my wife for her planning and we will use this for a chunk of it. I know we're going to do the High Line, then the skyscraper viewing at the one with with the glass floor near there, and then a harbor ride around the SoL and Brooklyn Bridge one afternoon. Super touristy, but it's a fun half day to do and the kids will remember it and ... we're tourists. Besides that, I don't know a thing about her plans except she's taking our oldest to a tour of Yale one morning and I am taking the younger 3 to one of the Sara Beth's, Central Park, and one of the museums that they've picked out around there, while my wife and oldest are in Connecticut. Regarding Keen's and Spark's, we went to Keen's two summers ago and I was surprised that it felt like they'd lost their fast ball for some reason. I'd been a few times and thought it was cool, but my wife had never been and I was disappointed that it wasn't as great as I'd remembered. For Sparks, is that where Paul Castellano was taken out in a mob hit just outside? If so, I didn't realize it was still around. You guys think it's upper end?
  7. I just saw this response. I didn't say anything about not liking the guy. I hope he does great at Texas, and I also hope to never see him at SS. It's not just about fielding percentages, which weren't great for him, but also range. There are balls other SSs get to that he didn't when playing that spot. Also, @cmontexas , Duplantier still is not good and if Texas is relying on him regularly as a key pinch hitter, yes, it's a fucking hole in the roster strategy.
  8. He was a defensive liability at SS for Stanford. Had the range of a three-toed sloth and no business playing the position. He's either 3b, bench, or light the cigarettes now, boys, because we'll have already been fucked by someone's injury if he's regularly at SS or 2B.
  9. Wow. I forgot that this thread existed, much less that I created it. Enjoyed reading it again. If given the choice, I will always find a way to rationalize picking another team for a title over Notre Dame, OU, or Alabama.
  10. I am taking my wife and 4 teen/pre-teen kids to Manhattan for a big chunk of spring break. I've been many times and my wife used to live in the city, so we've seen many of the things and so have our kids. I'm wondering if any locals or frequent travelers had any uncommon but cool recommendations to visit or see? Or something really new and cool that has popped up in the last 12 months? New shops of any sort as well. I have a wife and teenage daughter who quite enjoy destroying my wallet. Also, any new recs on nice restaurants anywhere in Manhattan? How about a favorite steakhouse? I've been to a bunch of steakhouses in NYC over the years on business trips and what not, so trying to think my way out of a rut in that regard. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
  11. For whatever reason, some people hate on Guy Fieri, but I enjoy watching DDD. He went to UNLV and knows the town culinary haunts pretty well. He's featured many off-the-Strip joints in Vegas on his show and they all usually look good. They're inherently, you know, diners, drive-ins, and dives, so if you want something upscale, ignore me. Something more lunch-worthy, though? There's a list of them to pick from on the sites that track his visits.
  12. You are correct about me not thinking @Wulaw Horn was talking about Simmons since he wasn't draft eligible. As to it being McDonald, my question was legitimately curious as to who Wu was thinking. I don't disagree with your assessment of McDonald's probable draft placement, but I am not convinced that's who Wu meant. To your other points: 1) I understand the premise that the NFL doesn't value Safeties the same way they do other positions early in the draft. I also think the NFL is chock full of groupthink with old saws just waiting to be mocked and exploited. If they can't account for a unicorn like Downs, who can play every position on the field besides DT, and draft him accordingly, they're dumber than I thought. Surely someone sees that this guy can change the entire complexion of a defense and takes him high. 2) How far into the draft are the stupid early mocks going right now? Surely Brown, Smothers, Siani, and McDonald are potential 3rd round guys at this point? They all seem like they have the potential to be in that range with strong seasons.
  13. Who is your second 1st rounder after Goosby if it isn't Arch?
  14. You guys talking about keeping Swain - isn't he now being projected as a mid-late 1st round pick? What is that contract value range? Seems like it would be tough for NIL to match that.
  15. Class size perspective from Gerry. How big will the 2027 recruiting class be?
