Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Morality has nothing to do with the primary issue associated with the premise of some school suing on Seymore's behalf. You see that I used that word and espoused the concept, so all your simple mind can do is try to turn it into a shaming mechanism for the whole discussion.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Rack'em!!! Sweet take, bro! Taking someone, with the intent of having their request to play denied by the governing authority so you can then sue said governing authority into forced capitulation, is immoral behavior to me. There is actually nothing wrong with having some gating items for being qualified to do a thing or join a group or what have you. There are many jobs that post, you know, job requirements, that preclude entire groups of people from applying. Degree reqs, years of experience reqs, even physical or age reqs for certain jobs. This idea that there's something wrong with the NCAA's requirement that, in order to play college sports, a person be qualified by, wait for it, ... actually being in college as a student and for an average student period of time only, is bullshit. That the NCAA has been successfully sued for other shit so therefore this will also not be upheld is false logic. Might they lose? Sure. Chambliss and Ole Miss rigged the set-up and have a favorable judge. As that escalates away from their rigged control, we'll see what happens. I'm cheering for the NCAA and I'd be cheering for the NCAA again Seymore and Texas in that hypothetical. I don't want 30 year old losers showing up to fuck up the sport on the regular. I don't have a problem with schools talking to agents and expressing interest in their talent. I've recruited talent from direct competitors in open markets multiple times. What's corrupt about that? The schools provide a one year scholarship. Another school trying to lure a player into the portal for more money and a potentially better role is not against the law. I don't think working with agents is against the law or NCAA compliance, either. Also, now that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of adults being able to get paid while playing college sports, there is zero compromise I'm having to intellectually make in cheering for my team to pay players in an effort to win championships. I find it baffling that that would get lumped in with the other premises.

Wrong capo. He's referencing the one who said his wife's something or other entree was like "spackle in my bowels" and then went to take a shit and died on the toilet. Which reminds me ... there was a user on one of these boards, whether Hornfans, Shaggy or Surly, I don't remember, but his handle was "DiesOnAToilet". Awesome. Maybe I am old fashioned, but I find the premise of taking a guy who is out of eligibility and then suing on his behalf in an attempt to further corrupt a sport I care about immensely seems like a shitty thing for the school with which I am aligned to do. You're new here or using a new handle, so benefit of the doubt on the premise, but you're not only aligning with a shitty approach but imbecilic residents of this board like that twiddlefuck posting above you on this thread.

J Terry also is returning, and he's not doing so in order to ride pine. He was given assurances about being a part of the rotation and the staff thinks he's going to be a beast. He may not be there in terms of size, we could argue, but I don't think they'll have a problem fitting him in with down, distance and scheme. Frankly, DT/NT looks pretty fucking stacked. Maybe not with 2027 1st round talent, but with quality college depth and numerous guys who ultimately play on Sunday.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2027: I remember watching his dad play
Also Gerry responding below: It early ... why I put date on it Jaluke hasn't gotten through all the RB's yet ... see if anyone cracks a top 10 list because the DB's in the 2027 cycle are electric prospects ... DL is very strong nationally too in 2027 Royal is absolutely the top WR I'm becoming a big fan of Briceson Thrower at North Forney. Feet are on fire getting off LOS and press, smooth in routes for size, 50-50 winner and has look of a prospect in person that will be 6-3, 195-200 and can add speed (hamstrings have that look). http://www.hudl.com/v/2Spysh Where I think it will be valuable is the recruit and parent will not have any questions or worry about where the DC stands in regard to their son. That was an issue that would pop up with PK, seeing as he was rarely on the road or would be a part of the phone calls. He also said he's hearing 16-18 NIL recruiting slots. What he didn't say is that that group will also likely be tiered into 2-3 groups in terms of value.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2027: I remember watching his dad play
Gerry from this morning: Ten Most Wanted Steve Sarkisian and staff members have been on the road all week seeing top targets in 2027, and evaluating many others. While many final decisions on 2027 prospects are left to be made, there are certainly a number of prospects that have risen to the top of the list headed into February. OnTexasFootball takes a look at the ten most wanted in late January. This is my opinion combined with some intel 1. John Meredith III, CB, Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley Will Muschamp and Texas staff members were by the school in recent days. Texas will be right there at the end of the day. 2. Jalen Brewster, DL, Cedar Hill (Texas) High - *Texas Tech commit The top in-state defensive line. While he's a pledge to the Red Raiders, he's still open in the process. Decent shot he shows up in Austin this spring. 3. Gabriel Osborne Jr., CB, Mustang (Ok.) High Make no mistake, Texas loves this two-sport star that spends a lot of his time way above the rim on the basketball court. Will Muschamp and Blake Gideon were at his hoops game Tuesday night. 4. Honor Fa'alave-Johnson, S, San Diego (Calif.) Cathedral Catholic One of the most explosive players in the cycle. Will Muschamp and defensive staff members were by the school last week. A spring UOV is expected. 5. Easton Royal, WR, New Orleans (La.) Brother Martin #AllGasNoBrakes Texas and LSU will do battle here. Lane Kiffin was at Brother Martin yesterday. Gird up your loins recruitment. 6. Ben'Jarvius Shumaker, DL, Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County Kenny Baker was by the school Thursday. This is a very high-end defensive line prospect. Underrated nationally. Texas will get him on campus this spring. 7. Ismael Camara, T/G, Gilmer (Texas) High Kyle Flood was by Gilmer High this week to see the versatile 6-6, 325-pounder that is light on his feet. Texas will be in the fight with every major program in the country. 8. JayQuan Snell, S, Waxahachie (Texas) High - *Texas A&M commit Steve Sarkisian, Will Muschamp and Blake Gideon met with Snell and family this week. OTF expects Texas to get the hard-hitting safety on campus this spring. 9. Brian Swanson, OT, Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood were by the school this week. Texas is the leader over Texas A&M, Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon and Ohio State. 10. Peyton Miller, C, Anna (Texas) High Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood were in Anna this week to meet with Peytion and his family. Texas is the slight leader with a June/July decision likely.

I didn't pay attention to where Clark transferred, so I assumed the dude was referencing Southern Cal. SCar being referenced as USC needs to be DOA around here. Good grief.

Depression, OCD, and whatever else ails you between the ears
Thanks for the thoughts and I understand the humanity thing about posters, me being there at something of the forefront of that, I’ve been told. It’s weird, because I’ve told plenty of personal stories and, hell, some fuckers on Shaggy went so far as to doxx me or try to do so. Sometimes it seems like people don’t believe the stories but they’re mostly true. Anyway, this has been a positive outlet but it would be nice if things could improve. My daughter had her surgery yesterday and there have been complications that have kept her in the hospital and moved her to an area of greater focus (it isn’t clear to me if that is ICU or just not outpatient) due to blood loss and whatever other “complications” my SIL doesn’t fully understand right now. She’s young, in great shape and very healthy. My doctor brother says that this shit happens and she’ll be fine. I hope he’s right. Not knowing anything about hospital stuff, I’d just like to hear that she’s home and fine. It kind of sucks that she’s having this experience and I’m worried it impacts her ability to have more babies in the future, which I know is important to her.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
One thing that strikes me about the posts lately is that there is a view of finality to this cycle that is very premature. I will not be surprised if they sign 2-3 more OL and several other positions by the time August rolls around. There are hundreds of players available and will be available well into the spring. They could still sign and add guys that enroll in the spring. Forget whatever is officially out there. They could get guys into school through early Feb, guaranteed.

I don't know what you're talking about here because I am really digging watching Napoleon try to convince all of us that a UT undergrad degree doesn't mean a fucking thing in the world. After all, that was his experience, so that's just the way it is for everyone. Challenge that at your own peril, dummies.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Bobby Burton can reach damned near anyone he wants who is associated to a Texas sport. The guy has helped out coaches, players and programs at Texas more than he's gotten back from the university. You guys talk about him coveting some source like Flood or Akina and I understand the concept, but it's simply not what he's doing. The dude is just friends with Akina, so I'm sure it bothered him watching his friend get run over. He's human. As to Flood, I just think he believes what he's saying. That wouldn't be like the only guy they're able to talk to at Texas so they've got to protect him. Regarding Kwiatkowski, if there was a guy that was pretty much useless to the $9.95ers, he was it. He didn't do much in recruiting and wasn't a great contact for basically anything, allegedly. On top of that, Gerry didn't like the way he handled his front and the disconnect, which was constantly having to be managed, between the front 5/6/7 and the secondary. That said, he wasn't giddy about Kwiatkowski getting fired as much as he was happy to see Muschamp coming back to town.

If you honestly think OTF, or any of the $9.95ers, are working with the AD on PR, get your head examined. Also, what "damage control" is needed right now? Is it your belief that there's some sort of groundswell of anger by the masses because Texas didn't land one more Guard from the portal? Okay, then. Gerry can get on some strange tangents and his whole "blame Sarkisian" thing with the OL is one of those for me. Sarkisian is a known control freak and he's very specific about how he wants fronts blocked on various plays, but he's not over there with the OLs coaching technique while Flood sobs and sucks his thumb in a corner. Sarkisian also has final say on OL evaluations, but Flood leads that charge along with the scouting support.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
You're shocked? If you've been expecting this story to have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention. The IOL needs were torched once the Michigan guys noped out on Flood and Harris. In reality, Texas has just about as much depth as anyone. People can nitpick Edge or LB, I guess, but that's just doing so because they enjoy hearing their own shrieks. Texas is also fine at OT and we can readily assume the backups at OT are also probably pretty good. At IOL, the only way Texas winds up with sustainable quality on the field is if someone unexpected really kicks maximum ass. If Flood showed any promise on teaching Sarkisian's desired IOL scheme and developing G or C, there'd still be whining about being really thin at that position, but there'd be less despondence. They're going to cross-train multiple guys who this board is thinking of strictly as OTs. I am not advocating for that or offering it as hope. I'm merely pointing out the premise that the OT are getting quality work with Flood and maybe that helps them at G/C. Or, maybe it fucks up their OT development. If so, light the cigarettes now, boys, because we've already been fucked. I do think there are even good posters here gnashing their teeth due to the trauma inflicted upon all of our viewing eyes by Hodor Stroh. The willful obliviousness of fielding way more experience at 3 of the 5 OL roles, with NFL talent at the bookends, with way more talent that can stretch the field in the passing game and a deeper RB room to offset a lot of the OL pressure is entertaining, at least. It must be soothing or some shit. I expect the 2026 offense to be the best offense Sarkisian has fielded at Texas.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
I don't have a big dispute with your POV here, since I can rationalize the logic to your opinion. That said, and I know it's been said before but I think it bears repeating - CFB and CBB have been broken for two decades. Only teams participating in the bag game were winning in either sport. What we're dealing with right now is a better form of both sports for teams that weren't cheating. I suspect that contracts will start to get tighter, with more clearly defined terms around the duration, buyouts, etc. Then we'll get better state legislation based on learnings. Meanwhile the NCAA and the CSC will remain toothless. Ultimately, better stability will take place but there will still be a group of "haves", like Texas, ATM, ND, Tech, BYU and the Big 10, and then a large and whiny group of "have nots", many of whom can go get fucked violently and repeatedly as former bag game winners and participants. It's this kind of thoughtful, witty, rich and compelling retort that has won the masses over in your favor. Well done with the quality content, as expected.

"Self-loathing" is something I don't think I've ever been labeled. Nauseatingly the opposite in many a person's view. As to it "clearly" being a joke, that would be a defensible position on your end if every fucking post of yours wasn't the same. You don't get the benefit of the doubt.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
I'm going to start negging witless, uninformed nonsense from various posters, and specifically you. I encourage others to do the same. It's our only currency, it has limited effectiveness, but it's a good outlet and our only hope of seeing the constant trolling diminished. Want to avoid it? Put more effort into your post. Explain to us what Sarkisian's opportunity here was, and how he mishandled it. If you can't honestly do that, we don't need to see your ignorant bullshit sprayed constantly on this thread.

Depression, OCD, and whatever else ails you between the ears
I appreciate the thoughts from the posts that followed mine. I talked to my daughter last night and, unbelievably, things were worse than I'd understood in texting with her husband in the days prior. She has to have surgery tomorrow to have the baby removed, which I didn't understand was a thing. She, of course, sounded pretty sad about it. It's kind of hard to fathom being in the shoes of someone facing that. I've written my thoughts to her. I found out as well last night that one of my closest friends actually went to the hospital after not speaking to our mutual friend in the car wreck for more than a decade. I'd told him about the accident the day before and the hospital wasn't far from his home. "Should I go?" "That's for you to decide, but depending upon what he told his family, it might be a difficult thing to dig up for them, man." He went anyway and apparently the sister knew the whole story and was pretty upset at his audacity. Going to the funeral or celebration of life is one thing. The hospital though? I am sorry you've had to go through all of that. Frankly, I think that's a much harder row to hoe than what I'm worrying about here and I am glad things are looking up for you and your wife. I appreciate your thoughts on this. The "get obsessed with something" premise is good advice that I've offered folks over the years myself. I'm a good compartmentalizer and also have a few obsessions that serve me well, so I am positive about moving forward. It's just the quagmire of the moment kind of thing that's had me a little down for the past week.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
Here's actual transfer discussion fodder from Gerry today: Ranking the portal transfers When ranking the portal transfers into the Texas program in the 2026 cycle, there are a number of ways to look at them. It can be pure talent that will likely show in future NFL Draft's. There is scheme fit. And there is need. In my ranking of the 16 transfers to date, I'm ranking based on the need for Texas in 2026. 1A. Rasheem Biles, LB, Pitt - Biles has All-SEC First-Team and All-American ability. He's every bit the playmaker of Cam Coleman on theo ther side of the ball, and will be a huge key for Will Muschamp's defense in year one. Best pure football player Texas brought in via the portal thus far in the cycle. 1B. Cam Coleman, WR, Auburn - He will help open up the passing game fully. He will require safety help over the top, and help make teammates better by being on the field. And he has big play ability, obviously. 3. Ian Geffrard, NT, Arkansas - The ability to stop the run and take two lineman to deal with will make others better around him. This pickup is undervalued when compared to how key his role will be. There is a reason Will Muschamp and Kenny Baker tabbed him as very important right out of the gate. Texas also lost Cole Brevard and Travis Shaw as run defenders. 4. Melvin Siani, RT, Wake Forest - The transfer of Siani allows for Brandon Baker to move inside. With Trevor Goosby and Connor Robertson back, Texas essentially has four starters returning that all started eight games of more in 2025. Texas considers him a future NFL Draft pick. 5A and 5B. Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown - The running back duo isn't top shelf of the SEC (not Jadan Baugh, Ahmad Hardy, Kewan Lacey level), but will fill the room with quality and versatility. Their ability in the passing game will be just as valuable as the run game for Arch Manning and the Texas offense. Smothers will bring carry-to-carry consistency, while Brown can make a darting run when nothing is there and plays in space. 7. Bo Mascoe, CB, Rutgers - Mascoe brings All-Big 10 HM experience and physicality to the cornerback position. This is key with both 2025 season starters having departed. Will likely be in an NFL camp as a late round pick. 8. Michael Masunas, TE, Michigan State - The run game will benefit from having a strong in-line blocking presence. An area the program has to take steps to get where they ultimately want to be. The combo of Masunas and Nick Townsend provide physicality at the position. 9. Dylan Sikorski, OG, Oregon State - brings six starts, but more importantly has multiple years of eligibility to build on as well. 10. Justin Cryer, ILB, Florida State - Will Muschamp has to have an A-gap/B-gap thumper. Enter the 6-foot-1, 237-pounder. He will be asked to provide physicality against the run, period. 11. Gianni Spetic, K, Memphis - Spetic brings a big leg that will show up on kickoffs and on long distance field goal attempts. 12. Markus Boswell, LB, Akron - linebacker depth and special teams play are very much needed. 13. Mac Chiumento, P, Florida State - Texas lost a high-end punter in the college game following the season. The Horns will need consistency and directional ability here. 14. Zion Williams, NT, LSU - If the 6-foot-4, 355-pounder proves to attack football as it's No. 1 in his world, he can move way up the list. Quality big body depth over the ball until that football transformation happens. 15. Trey Dubuc, LS, New Mexico - will play a key role for the Horns in 2026 that is only recognized if something bad happens. 16. Jonte Newman, T/G, Texas A&M - developmental depth piece barring an unexpected jump in 2026.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
I don't think Texas was making some sort of significant NIL offer. They wanted to sign him for cheap and work on developing him as he provided depth. Coastal likely offered him a bigger contract and the true hope of immediate playing time.

Depression, OCD, and whatever else ails you between the ears
I don't move around to certain sections of this site much, but the overall site is more or less my Internet home base. This thread seems like the place where folks discuss grief and the fog with that. I don't know if I am "grieving" per se, since I thankfully don't have a ton of experience with it and that's pretty far away from my overall disposition in general. That said, I feel like I just want to put a few of thoughts out there into the ether in some form of memory for some things. This has been a really dark seven days for me and I would like this terrible streak to end. Spoilered in order to not take up the whole thread page. My daughter lost her pregnancy in the second trimester last week. It's pretty crushing, obviously, for her and her husband. For me as a parent, it feels like a gut punch. I wish there was more I could do but she's 2,000 miles away. Thoughts and prayers it is. I think I'm going to write her a small letter or something in the hopes of helping her mentally a bit, but she's pretty fucking tough and might just roll her eyes at it. I don't know, probably doing it more for myself than anything and maybe that's selfish. A good friend of mine was in a one car accident on Friday night outside of Driftwood. Ran into a street light and never applied the brakes. Could have been drinking, or fallen asleep, or had a cardiac event. Not sure we'll ever know and not sure it's important at this point. They pulled the plug after parent visitations last night. I'd lost touch with him over these past 5+ years. He moved to the Austin area and was teaching in HS and kind of a Peter Pan type. I have a bunch of kids and businesses to help raise or deal with, and outside of the random texts associated to key dates and shared memories, we hadn't caught up in years. My last true conversation with him was after church at lunch. He couldn't figure out why two of his and my best friends had ostracized him from the group, or tried to, at least. So I ended up just delivering the painful truth to him about their reasoning, that it was likely permanent, that I didn't agree with them and they knew it, and still considered him my friend, but that he needed to move on for his own sanity. He was really upset and it was an overall grim conversation. I'd like to have talked to him in a better place than that being one of our last shared experiences. I don't have a long list of friends. He was one of them. He could call me for anything and vice versa, and it wouldn't have mattered how long it had been, we'd have done something for the other. Some of my wife's girlfriends were super good friends with him in current times and they're all pretty crushed and texting and talking about him. It's surreal to be something of a spectator since they came about their friendships with him in ways that never intersected with me, because he and I were running buddies for the better part of 15 years more than a decade ago. He was in my wedding. RIP John. You will be missed. My uncle died today. It wasn't unexpected, but it's just another bad thing packed into a short period. He did some very bad things to my mother when I was young, so I've never had much love for the guy. He died in near poverty, his offspring range from near homeless drunks to lower middle class blue collar types without savings. So I have the triple whammy of losing blood I've known and seen regularly all my life, having some pretty complicated mixed emotions about the man in totality, and my older brother informing me that he and I are going to have to split the funeral costs for a funeral I won't be attending, otherwise they're not sure what they can do. The money wouldn't matter except a lot of the negative shit I've experienced from the man when growing up involved him doing things driven by greed or financial incompetence that directly caused my mother and her kids harm, like kicking us out of a rental house he owned with one week's notice when my mom didn't have a job and we had nowhere to go. One of many. My mom is now spending her 4th straight day in the hospital and is battling several ailments directly related to her rapid decline in cognitive abilities and her ability to take care of herself. A year ago, she was perfectly fine. It's kind of shocking. I know many people have it worse. I'm not lamenting life, just a shitty 7 day streak in the middle of it. This thread seemed like the least "look at me" place for such a thing short of me writing this on a card and mailing it to Santa or something. I wanted to write this all down and organize this negative, melancholy bullshit in my head so that I can then put it all behind me in some manner.

NIL Recruiting News Megathread
Yeah, that sounds right. I don't think the portal season has made anything better for those guys, either.
