2025 NHL Playoffs Thread - Let the madness begin!
He and Lundqvist are both pretty solid as studio guys. The Turner guys tend to blow ESPN's out of the friggin water for analysis overall though Carter tends to be a little too into going for hot taeks and less actual analysis for my liking. Speaking of, Biz and Ryan Whitney are the owners of the new ECHL team just down the road from me so I'll definitely be catching a few of those games. Greensboro used to be THE spot for minor league hockey in the Southeast and it's shit that they lost their franchise for as long as they did. Mind you ECHL play was like something out of Slapshot at the time, so that's going to be a good bit different. Hoping the well wasn't poisoned a good nearly 30 years back when the Whale first moved here and kinda forced the Monarchs out.

Jack and now Luke Hughes being out injured against Carolina makes New Jersey a pretty strong candidate.

2025 NHL Playoffs Thread - Let the madness begin!
Though yeah, this year was supposed to be a retool for Carolina while still being a playoff team. Blake emerging as a top 6 forward as a rookie was an unexpected pleasant surprise but the defense isn't there unless Nikishin rotates in and is Pronger level from day one, and Burns all of a sudden returns to his form from 2016. TBH I expect the Canes to get out of the Metro, but then Tampa probably picks us apart in the ECF.

NHL Regular Season: 2024-2025
Columbus seems to be taking care of the Flyers tonight and they have the Isles left. Oh how I hope my boys can twist the dagger in Montreal tomorrow night playing what's essentially an AHL lineup. Stephane Robidas' kid getting the game winner there in regulation would be the sweetest possible outcome.

NHL Regular Season: 2024-2025
TBH I didn't realize that the Flyers affiliate was out of Allentown until the NCAA tourney this year. My old ass is still used to them being the Philadelphia Phantoms.

Whatever the penalty minutes game record is for this session this game is challenging it

My usual spot in the first rows of the upper deck tonight. Everything but the Stankoven goal has been at the other end of course

NHL Regular Season: 2024-2025
Buffalo in recent years seems to turn things up a notch or three when it's far faaaaaaaar too late to make a difference. Reminds me of my Canes in our decade of darkness era from 2009-2018 in that regard.

NHL Regular Season: 2024-2025
pretty wild that right now it's looking like the matchup in DC vs Carolina on the 10th has a real shot at being the game he gets the chance to break the record... and is Alexander Nikishin's NHL debut, the guy that's probably the most hyped Russian dman prospect since the Soviet Union was a thing.

College basketball coaching carousel: 2025 edition
The biggest two things this search has told me are 1 - that the "insiders" for WVU know even less shit than they did 15 years ago during the re-alignment fiasco which is REALLY fucking saying something. And 2 - most in the fanbase couldn't tell you a damn thing outside of the P5 and a few select mid majors. But they're sure as hell going to overreact like they're experts on the subject matter.

MLS 2025 - no one wants to watch anyway
I'll give my guys in Charlotte some credit for finding a way to get things OTA, even if it's on a delay. Paywalling a league that is trying to grow its exposure is friggin stupid, especially when it's on a service that has quite limited scope to begin with. https://www.charlottefootballclub.com/news/charlotte-fc-matches-to-re-air-locally-on-tv64

2025 NCAA Tournament - First Round Thursday/Friday
Much as I think Beard is a POS gotta say I'm pretty happy with this outcome.

he shouldn't have, that year it should have been Mac 100%

NHL Regular Season: 2024-2025
I'll be curious to see how long it keeps up but Hall has looked rejuvenated with Carolina so far after getting put on a line with Svechnikov.

NHL Regular Season: 2024-2025
probably not, though they'll probably try to talk him down to 13 if possible. Canes have 30M projected to be open next season if the projections for next season are correct though without a ton needing to be signed/acquired if they retain Rants. Goalie, an RHD to replace Burns (who's been shit this year), and a couple 3rd-4th line holes. Easily doable with the 16M that would be left over.

NHL Regular Season: 2024-2025
should, we have Orlov coming off the books this summer and are replacing him with Nikishin. With the cap going up we should be able to meet his contract demands. Also will be curious to see if he's still demanding as much to play with his pal Aho.

also had Hurricanes-Lightning postponed earlier this year due to a hurricane. Pretty sure the trifecta this year would be Avs/Jets being postponed due to a snowstorm at whichever airport.

These matchups always feel more like a knife fight than a basketball game. Even post-Huggins. At least the Jerry West era throwbacks looked good.- College Hoops 2024-25
short bench and foul trouble made things REAL interesting in Boulder yesterday but WVU held on. Small keeps playing himself into the PotY conversation.- College Hoops 2024-25
I still can't believe we actually won down 2 of our 3 best players AT KU.- CFB coaching carousel
I think our current RB, Jahiem White, could thrive under his system in all honesty. Our biggest problem this past season was the defense and Rich ain't exactly a defensive guru.- CFB coaching carousel
Money talks. Not the biggest fan of this move but if he can actually bring some excitement back to the program I'll be quick to forgive.- CFB coaching carousel
I'd be pleasantly surprised if this is the case, not saying it's not but the last couple power conference OC to HC moves we made turned out pretty good for the program even if the last one was kindof a choad that looked like Big Ern McCracken Jimbo's semi-realistic. Saban is the usual idiots being purely delusional. Chadwell is already being paid like a (lower tier) power conference HC with a much easier path to the playoff, can't see the admin paying up what's needed for him to jump (north of 7 per IMO). It'll be close to another half decade before I show up at another home game if it's Odom. You don't fire Neal Brown just to replace him with essentially a carbon copy and hope the fans will put up with it. I've also heard Dan Mullen floated but don't think he'd make the jump, especially if Wisconsin opens up as expected, and obviously Rich Rod is out there but after the way he left, just no IMO.- CFB coaching carousel
let's be real, this move should have been made 2 years ago. Nicest coach ever but guy just can't seem to cut it at the power conference level. - College Hoops 2024-25
