I ran into a similar situation on my way by Akins HS. I pumped my fist at them as I slowly drove by and got some positive feedback. Cops were monitoring but not causing any issues. The kids were enthusiastic but not violent. Good for them!
Just finished Book 7. Now I'm going to like a heroin addict until 8 comes out in May. Fantastic series and Jeff Hays is a fucking genius. So many genuine LOLs.
My wife went to Milwaukee for her Moms 75th birthday to surprise her. First flight back to Austin got cancelled on Sunday after she boarded. She rescheduled for Monday. Got to the airport on Monday and her first flight was on time but her DFW to Austin second leg was delayed 6 hours. She smelled a cancellation coming and didn't want to get stuck in DFW so she rescheduled for Tuesday. She was kind of right, but as fate would have it, her flight that she would have been on arrived 3 hours late but it got there. The other flights were all cancelled so that was just bad luck. Now for the stupid part. Booked the same flight on Tuesday, so Milwaukee to DFW, DFW to Austin. Exact same times. Got to DFW on time and then lost her goddamned mind. Got to the first gate that said Austin and hunkered down. Didn't bother to look at time or flight number. Like there's not 20 DFW to Austin flights a day. I'm looking at the SWA app to track her for pickup and see that her flight is boarding. Then I get a text saying they are delayed and won't start boarding for an hour. I push back and say "App says the flight is boarding". "They lie" she says. Then gives me the flight number for the gate she's at. I point out that that's not the flight number for the itinerary she gave me. She then, finally, looks at her boarding pass and see's the flight number. Too late. Missed her flight and had to book on to the one she was waiting for in error. Luckily no issues there, but she got in an hour later than expected. After all the shit she went through she managed to fuck up the last leg and is lucky she didn't totally fuck herself. I'm just glad she got home, but damn.
The point is that the lesson from the story is the same whether it happened (it didn't, there was no big boat full of animals and the whole world didn't die) or not. It's a story do demonstrate that obedience to God's will, no matter how stupid the request, will be rewarded.
I can never remember how to spell the word, but my German sisters-in-law use the German word meaning "soft penis" in place of pussy. It kills me every time.
I'd take the money and commute again, but if anyone actually thinks it would change my expertise and productivity, they are full of shit. I can do my job anywhere there is an internet connection. I collaborate daily with team and customers. If some dumbass wants to pay be double to do it in a cube, fine.
We've been playing Outsmarted! It's a trivia game with a ton of categories to choose from. Phone based but has a physical board. One of the cool things about it is that you can play on a virtual board so family that it not able to come can play too. We sometimes get my brother in law who's in Germany to join and he just plays on the virtual board and we track his moves on ours. Plays quick too if you want. There are several settings that make it so you can have a longer or shorter game. The variety of categories makes for good competition as some folks know more about history or geography, and some are better at pop culture stuff.
If that is, in fact, the case then I would agree it was a legitimate use of force, but it must have been a really small knife to not show on the video.
Why is it a discussion for other places? My exact point is that the law is immoral in this case. It's based on a morally indefensible argument put forth by people who are frightened by their own shadows who secretly yearn to shoot someone. I was in the army. I know exactly what the rules of engagement are based on, and my point stands. How can you be in fear for your life from an unarmed person on the outside of steel door, tempered glass window, in a vehicle that could have easily pushed the vehicle in front of it aside enough to go around it? The shooter made a choice to kill someone they didn't have to. Murder.
The base defense of pussies everywhere. The fucking military doesn't even believe this. If your fear gets to be the deciding factor in taking someones life, then there are no rules. I don't get how you guys can't see that?
I don't give a fuck what the "law" says in this situation. That's murder. Guy who got killed was a dumbass, but that doesn't mean he should die. I'm not opposed to defending yourself or your home and property, but what happened to us that we find it ok to shoot an unarmed man in a situation were we could have just driven away? Fuck that.
