To my knowledge LT has only tested Harris once, and Harris defended it. Ross looks very strong.

2021 Texas HS football
Kris Ross had a strip sack and returned it for a TD on Lt’s first snap of the game, but got called back due to a face mask penalty. He’s not getting the attention of the other recruits we have, but he’s a beast.

Will be a tougher road for my Scots, for sure, but they won't get run over. They took down a very good 6A Rockwall team earlier in the year. What's interesting (for me, probably for nobody else) is that the only time they were 6A (two years...2014-2015) they got knocked out of the playoffs both years by the high school I attended - Waco Midway.

Atascocita and Ridge Point in a very close game late in the 4th quarter. As a Rice Owl undergrad alum, I'm cheering for Bert Emmanuel Jr and the Ridge Point team! Winner gets da Sho next week.

2021 Texas HS football
I personally thought North Shore should have won the Westlake game handily last year, if not for truly unimaginative and pathetic offensive play calling. Making Shad a RB all game? Where did that come from? Too predictable. Credit to Westlake for taking advantage of it, but your posts seem to indicate Westlake is some juggernaut the likes of which the state has never seen. Not sure I buy that. But I wish them well - my team (Highland Park) has a lot of similarities and has had similar success over the years (last night excluded....).

Negative Recruiting Your Own School: The aggy Screenshot Megathread
I made it through 6 and a half minutes of this. It blows my mind that the Aggies thought this fast talking doofus was going to take them to the promised land. "We got a drive...mumbles fast... then THEY got a drive...mumbles....then WE got a drive...mumbles....then THEY got a drive." Next level analysis, there, Jimbo.

I was there over Memorial Day. Best part was the gun range. AR-15 and a handgun running around shooting at targets.

Fat People
Fat is a topic I both feel passionate about as well as struggle with. A couple points: 1) May seem like a shitty humblebrag but I've been blessed with good genes, eat mostly food I cook at home (instead of restaurants) and have done p90x videos fairly religiously since they came out 15 years ago, so I'm in really good shape, as is my wife. However we are struggling right now with our 7 year old daughter's weight. She isn't totally fat in the sense that it would be the first thing you'd notice about her, but she's overweight. She has a mental disorder called "oppositional defiant disorder". It's really a horrible thing because you'd never know she has a problem, until she starts both verbally and physically assaulting adults. She was kicked out of her private pre-K program as well as banned from last summer's country club day camps due to her behavior. The only medicine we've found that really helps her is one that both slows her metabolism and makes her hungry all the time. Hence, it packs on the lbs. It's really difficult to manage. So I don't ever judge fat people, because I don't know their circumstances. I think an underreported issue with people's weight is the impact of mental issues and the medicine they take for it. I'm no doctor, just going off what I've seen personally. 2) I've got enough knowledge of nutrition and exercise to effectively manage my weight. However, I think the country as a whole could really benefit from a massive initiative to teach these subjects, either in school or somewhere else. I truly believe people just have no idea what they're doing. I have a cousin-in-law who is probably 30 years old and 150 lbs overweight, and he posts pictures of him lifting weights showing how he's working to lose weight. I mean, I guess it's a start but he doesn't appreciate that the impact will come from his diet. Go watch youtube videos of concerts from the 90s and look at the crowds - no obesity to be seen - it's a shocking contrast to what you see daily today. I really wish we as a country would do something because it's a true health crisis that people don't appreciate fully.

2018 Lawn and Landscape Thread
I'm pretty sure I screwed up the watering. I watered for 7 minutes at 7:30am, and then 14 minutes at 9:30pm. Most of the "brown squares" were waterlogged and the soil had washed away. Today I replaced those with new sod squares, and switched my watering to 5 minutes at 7:30am and 5 minutes at 1:30pm. I read where watering at night wasn't ideal, nor was having a soggy yard (which I definitely had). Thanks @freyguy for the dillo dirt suggestion. I live in Dallas so I'm not sure we have that here, but I did spread some Black Kow (manure) over some of the trouble spots. Hopefully that has a similar effect. All in it took 3 pallets of St Aug (I guess my yard is more like 1,250 sq ft) and maybe $150 in top soil/Black Kow, so I saved over $6,000 doing this. Additionally, since I did this myself, I burned a shit ton of calories. I tracked them, and over a 4 day period I burned 2100, 1500, 1800 and 1500 calories. Almost 7,000 calories total over the 4 days. Pretty sure that equals out to about 2 lbs. It was hot as hell throughout. Definitely a lot of work, but the board's inspiration kept me going. Thanks!!

2018 Lawn and Landscape Thread
Update: After rejecting my landscaping company's $7,000 quote for 1,000 sq ft of zoysia sod, I took the board's advice and did it myself. A week and a half later, below is the pic of half the yard. I decided to go with St Augustine (Palmetto). Unfortunately some of the sod squares are browning out. I think it's because I got a pretty shitty pallet of sod and some of the undersides were dry AF and coming apart. I've been watering like a MF, but they just aren't coming back. Any advice to bring these back to green?? Worst case I go get a few more sod squares...easy enough.

Very helpful and valuable advice. Thanks, men! Tomorrow I start ripping it up! Will plan on using the T Methyl on the new sod to start. Decided to plant St Aug again, rather than zoysia.- 2018 Lawn and Landscape Thread
Many thanks. Sounds easy enough, I'm sure I'll find a way to fuck it up, but even if I do so 3-4 times, I'll still save a lot of money. - 2018 Lawn and Landscape Thread
