  1. The distance between "de-commitment watch" and "not a Texas commit" is literally an ellipsis. How long can it possibly take to read nothing.
  2. This is actually a great idea. I'd like to see the on3 composite score, and I'd also be interested in a goldilocks read on the accuracy of the composite for that prospect. Overvalued/undervalued/just right. The number scores are at least informative. I think Gerry did a breakdown back on IT about the ranges like 88-91 is a p5 prospect, 92-94 is a p5 prospect with at least one exceptional attribute, etc.
  3. There are 4 prospects at Mater Dei ranked in the top 200 and we've offered 3/4 Offers 1) WR, Chris Henry Jr. - fOSU commit 196) Edge, Shaun Scott 197) IDL, Tomohini Topui No Offer 33) OT, Kodi Greene They've also got a 3* corner, CJ Lavender with a bunch of SEC offers but nothing from us.
  4. I wonder if they brought Tannahill Love back for the weekend
  5. bEAST Texas cannot be contained. Justin Wells can tell you allllllllllll about it.
  6. Looks like Wells reported it 2 days ago, but USC CB commit, Trestin Castro is coming in this weekend. https://www.on3.com/db/trestin-castro-174220/recruiting/ Other options in order of likelihood include : LB, Matai Tagoa'i He's showing as scheduled to visit next weekend. If he shows up, the news is that he's skipping or rescheduling a Utah OV. https://www.on3.com/db/matai-tagoai-158449/recruiting/ DL, Hayden Lowe Unlikely, but we've offered and he's been mentioned https://www.on3.com/db/hayden-lowe-154780/recruiting/ DL, Isaiah Gibson He'd be cancelling/rescheduling Tennessee. This one feels like an eventual uga flip. https://www.on3.com/db/isaiah-gibson-177044/recruiting/ Others with offers include the Lake Travis Peanut Assassin, Gus Cordova, and JuJu Lewis. We've not offered Justus Terry, their highest ranked commit.
  7. OTF teasing a surprise visitor this weekend by a defensive prospect. Not releasing a name until announced by the player, so likely committed elsewhere
  8. Peak offseason content Of 134 FBS teams, only 55 return their HC, OC, DC, Strength coach, and starting QB. Of those teams, only 4 return a 3rd or 4th year starter at QB: Okie lite, Ole Miss, Utah, and Texas. https://footballscoop.com/news/these-teams-bring-back-all-five-of-the-most-important-people-in-any-program
  9. Per Spiegelman, Kade Phillips didn't show up to his aggy OV this weekend
  10. Just want to let you all know that you're about to get a stern talking to from old man yelling at the sun billfromlaketravis about the attention span of today's youth.
  11. This was from his reddit ama - lots of interesting stuff in there
  12. 247 dropped in a couple notes/updates on current targets - mostly scouting updates from the camp circuit Relevant prospects include: Full article
  13. Four star Admiral and former system chancellor, Bill McRaven and failed commentator actor football player reality tv personality Brian "The Boz" Bosworth, are actually a wonderful illustration of each incoming member. I was prepared to shit on that casting, but nope. That's about right.
  14. I'd really like if we spent one of the available roster spots on more secondary depth. Tony Mitchell - S, Alabama Ceyair Wright - CB, USC (familiar name, we were in on him in 2020) Jacoby Matthews - S, aggy Looks like Matthews comes with baggage or doesn't have the grades. Wright is just...not on the team but no details from Riley. Mitchell would be pure depth, but is probably the only actual option of the 3. Idk if we're still sifting the portal, but I'd add any of the above talent to the roster. Culture fit, tbd.
  15. https://247sports.com/Player/CJ-Mooring-46139014/ Father is Isaac Mooring, new analyst working with DL/OLB. Most recently the DL coach at Houston *Christian* University
  16. LOL https://www.on3.com/teams/texas-longhorns/news/decision-preview-four-star-running-back-james-simon-to-announce-at-the-on3-elite-series/
  17. Lagway doing this spot while Rashada sues the beJEEZUS out of Napier is hilarious. Also, good for Lagway. Pretty damn cool. Also, also, the graveyard of failed 5* commercials and media filmed before they bust will be a treasure trove for internet snark.
  18. Starting at the top So....you're saying it's super different from the bag game, then. The mechanics of schools paying players directly are not close to being settled. That said, while schools may very well be able to pay players directly in the near future, collectives are absolutely not going away. If the role of a collective is to generally promote athletes, the AD, recruit donors, and facilitate events and activities pursuant to these goals, than it's reasonable to believe that collectives will be essentially folded in as university affiliated fundraising organizations. For demonstration, let's use Texas Exes (which sponsors more scholarships than any other affiliated org) as an example. The University of Texas is not funding scholarships promised by Texas Exes. They fundraise for the capital and write checks. Does that mean that Texas Exes is writing checks to students to cover tuition? Of course not - it's a sponsored scholarship setup with the school and the check is made out to the University. Scholarships, in this application, are sponsored offers of employment contracts. The major issue here, imo, is the difference between deep pocketed schools like Texas finding couch cushion money to pay players 1M each or something insane and needing a cap for fair play v. a continuation of exactly how it works now - collectives fundraising to pay athletes. Endorsements are endorsements, but collectives contracting players for community service isn't that. It's a clever way to inflate what you can pay them. Imo, that stays, but as a requirement of their employment.
  19. It is when your NIL program is the equivalent of tiger droppings
  20. Looks like he has some very recent context for that position
  21. And our unwillingness to meet demands like this for Toppin is why he's not coming, so................
  22. The only power 4 caliber PF/C options still in the portal are Trevon Brazile and Coleman Hawkins, both 6'10 PFs. Coleman is a scorer and Brazile hasn't been fully healthy in awhile. Hawkins is likely to Arkansas, but idk anything about Coleman's portal recruitment. Too bad we didn't get in on Ven-Allen Lubin who committed to UNC today
