He has an extra COVID year and this last season was a redshirt so he has 3 years of eligibility remaining. I do believe he would need to sit out if he enrolls at blOU for the spring and transfers after spring ball, but with 3 years left, that's better than being Dart's backup for the rest of your career. But I don't think it matters. As Fud said, BYU leads.

That clusterfuck would be a lot of fun to view from afar. Sucks for Gabriel, but he would have sat behind DTR anyway. He would probably portal again.

Catching up on the thread and it's baffling how many posters haven't figured out the portal yet. This is not high school recruiting: round 2. To have a realistic chance, you need to be a contributing factor to the player hitting the portal in the first place. The programs bringing in administrative portal personnel are not evaluating portal candidates, they're evaluating active players and determining what connections they can leverage to get them to the portal.

Fun note - WVU signed Nicco Marchiol, younger brother of noted former aggy and racist, Santino Marchiol.

Roach doesn't give a fuck about Texas. We laugh at Liucci, Drumm, Kennedy, Yeager, et al but those guys genuinely love the institutions that they are covering and, in some instances, break federal fucking law in subservience to them. We need to setup Roach with an bullshit gig at THSCA like blog editor, or some other vehicle to lick high school coach taint, then fund an NIL deal to go to the least talented player with the most team spirit that also somehow commits them to a journalism degree.

Losing your OC and DC in the same offseason following a shitty season does that sometimes.

‘A natty’ should be negged. Drips aggy. Fields, a transfer he lucked into, brought them to a national championship. The problems with the defense were on display all year.

We literally JUST got compliance’s grubby little hands out of NIL. I cannot imagine the hellfire that creating an “off-field” coaching + administrative swagger role would bring on Football. Not criticizing the idea, btw. Just you.

I don't think Day will go to Chicago this offseason but his and Riley's career arc will be fun to watch over the next 10 years. They both inherited very specific cultures, talented rosters, and enough potential to continue to recruit at a high level. It took Riley 5 years, but through a series of questionable hires and diminishing results, he tanked the culture and left behind a roster in shambles. Day just finished year 4 where his major accomplishments were demoting his DC midseason, getting smoked in the only game that matters for them, and nearly losing his bowl game to a team full of try hard 3 stars. Maybe even worse, fOSU has 16 5*s currently on the roster, one less than Utah has 4*s. I think both Day and Riley lack the requisite head coaching skills of culture/roster management that contributes so significantly to the long term prospectus for teams they inherited. Riley bolted - what will Day do?

If this were true, HBCU's would have landed their first 5* player long before 2021.

Idk, man. Harbaugh is a better NFL coach and could leave without entirely embarrassing himself at his alma mater. There are some nice open jobs and soon to be open jobs like Minnesota, Chicago, LV, and Trevorville to fall into, so, yeah. I think he leaves.
