  1. There's already a movie about this

No good reason. Historically, there have actually been more than 2 shades. Late 1800s the school adopted blue and white as official school colors. Original color was a light blue ("Columbia blue"). A few lighter, brighter shades were seen in the early years. 1950s-60s navy was used. In the 70s, royal blue was adopted. BYU noticed that fans weren't really wearing the school colors much (especially compared to other schools) and the BYU fans in the stands looked like a bowl of "skittles". So, in the early 2000s we let a market research team tell us what to do and they said go navy because people have navy stuff already and more of them will wear it to games (lots of cheap BYU fans unwilling to buy royal stuff didn't help). It worked, as far as getting more people wearing school colors to games, but fans missed the unique royal color and its association with BYU success in the 80s and early 90s (national championship, heisman trophy, top 25 finishes, LaVell Edwards, etc.). Soon after Kalani became head coach he pushed royal because of aforementioned and to signal a return to greatness and brighter future.

    Happy Halloween I guess

I love royal blue the most, but these all navy are so clean.

IF both BYU and Cincy win out and go undefeated, then I think BYU should be ranked higher than Cincy. Cincy had a nice win today, no doubt, but BYU's schedule is significantly tougher. Are you arguing Cincy has a tougher schedule? Re: USF: Struggled? Nah. It was 28-6 at the half and BYU let their foot off the gas. We let them back in and didn't crush them, but we took care of business. Kalani isn't really a style points kind of guy (but maybe he should be). His MO is to just grind it out down the stretch, run out the clock, protect the lead, and get the win.

Compared to Cinci's schedule it is and that's the point: BYU schedule > Cinci schedule.

Ahem. If BYU wins out (still a big if), we will have a better resume. Cinci will have beat ND and Indiana. BYU will have beat 5 P12 teams including ranked Utah, ranked ASU, and USC; will have beat Virginia, possibly ranked Baylor, Boise State, and some others.
  8. This worked out well:
  9. I love this for many reasons, but doing this at the same time as getting an invite to the B12 after being snubbed by the P12 for many years is extra fun.
  10. Like the complements, but what else are they going to say? Also, Gundy: “We hit a home run. ... And you’ve solidified this league until things start to change after the 2024 season with media rights across the country.” Wait, wut? So, not stable after 2024? 🤨
  11. It's a shaggy/surly welcome 😑
  12. I'm curious about, and hoping very much, that the move to a P5 conference and a path to the playoffs will really take BYU to the next level. We've collected quite a few P5 scalps in the last decade (USC, Texas, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Virginia, Arizona, Cal, Washington, Utah, Georgia Tech, Washington State, Oregon State) but we've also gotten waxed by LSU and Michigan in embarrassing fashion. We have lacked depth and certain skill positions, especially CB, have not been elite. Kalani seems to really be coming into his own and figuring this head coach thing out. He's the kind of coach you want your kids to play for. He's already been getting better at recruiting, but we lose out on a lot of elite Mormon talent that want the P5 experience. We will get more of those now and I think we will get more looks from non-Mormon talent that are cool with a faith-based institution. We have a rich QB tradition, including the #2 pick in the NFL draft last year, and that pipeline will only get better. BYU could be trouble in the years ahead. I hope so anyway.

    does look good

We will be playing them with our stormtrooper unis with royal trim, one of my favorite looks.
  15. Show some respect, man.

  17. As a BYU fan, this gives me more security about joining the Big 12. It took us many years as an independent to build up some good schedules with around 5-6 P5 games each year. We're in a decent spot now. If we join the Big 12 and then a few years from now the Big 12 blows up that will majorly suck for us trying to rebuild what we lost.
  18. If you don't take all of BYU sports, at least take hoops with football.
  19. You got over the travel issue for WVU and you seem to be okay now with travel to Cinci and Orlando, which are similar to Provo in distance from Texas, so it seems like travel is maybe not that big of an issue.
  20. Yup, that's horrible. No one at BYU supports/defends this. BYU's initial response:
  21. Was on board until you said football only. BYU regularly finishes highly ranked in the Director's Cup standings and you want to leave out the other sports? Last season, BYU ranked #17 in the standings. In the 25 years of the Directors’ Cup, we have an average final ranking of 29 and have posted 14 top-30 finishes. I'd like to think the quality of our other programs besides football are worth the no Sunday inconvenience.
  22. It's taken us years as an independent to build quality football schedules with half a dozen (give or take) P5 games each season, but we are there now. However, if the I8 stabilize and stay together, and add these 4 schools, then I would be happy about joining the B12. For basketball, too.
  23. What's in it for the Big Ten to take ISU?
