Scott Wilson
Oh man...this picture. I recognize a few of those people, especially Scott. I was never a part of the Wild Bunch, but I was a bit of a lurker. I sat around them at all home baseball games between 1980-1983. By my senior year, I was at least recognized by them as being "okay" after I struck up a conversation with one of them and got around to telling them that I walked to the games from my apartment on Enfield road, about a block west of Mopac, and not just for the big games, but also for the games against Lamar and Emporia State. One of the guys, (I don't see him in the picture) once invited me to a tailgate get-together between games of a Saturday double header. These were really great people, and I always appreciated that they showed a bit of friendliness to a nobody college kid when I was there. They were all hilariously funny also. I think anyone would be lucky to have counted these people as friends. BTW, I recognized the guy that invited be to the tailgate in the clip of the 1983 CWS championship game, right after Clemens threw the winning pitch and the team was dog piling on the mound, this guy had jumped from the stands and joined in the dog pile. From the look on his face, I'd say Clemens was not amused. A couple memories of the WB; one year againstTexas Tech, they had a player with the last name of Pontius, or something very close. You can image the crap he was getting every time he came to bat, but at one point when he was in the batter's box, and there was a quiet-ish moment between pitches, I think it was Jose stands up and yells, "JESUS KILLER!", and the whole crowd heard it and broke up laughing. Later in that game, the WB was doing their "whoosh whoosh" thing during a TT at bat (If you were there, you know), and this unfortunate batter struck out swinging on three pitches, and the whole stadium erupted. Their third base coach was pissed, and on his way back to the dugout (this is when the visiting team sat in the first base dugout) he reaches into his mouth, pulls out a huge wad of chew and hurls it at the WB, but ended up hitting some innocent old woman right in the face. Of course the WB rode him mercilessly about his rag arm and lack of control. Good times, and I thank Scott and the rest of the WB for being such a huge part of them.

Tell Me About Texas a&m
Pathetic little pansies. I don't know of any Longhorn fan who wouldn't readily acknowledge their "decade of dominance" over us, but it is funny, and a little sad that they don't want to talk about what has happened since 1995. Oh, and I'm too lazy to look this up, but since we're talking about the aggy decade of dominance, what is the closest they got to a national championship during that time? What was their bowl record? I guess Daddy is the only thing that matters when it comes to dominance. Like many recalcitrant adolescents, they have serious daddy issues. Pussies.

Cool Pictures of Music Icons
Taken at the Fort Campbell teen club in approximately 1962, about 4 years before that guitarist behind the white chick changed music forever. I wonder what stories the other members of that band told their friends and associates later that decade, "No, really, I was in a band with Jimi Hendrix." BTW, bass player is Billy Cox, who would play with Jimi from 1969-1970.

Joel Klatt is a breath of fresh air. Fight me.
Probably depends on your age, but I'm going with 1979 Michigan State/Indiana State final, or the 1982 North Carolina/Georgetown Final as being peak NCAA basketball.

2025 Big Ten Championship - Ohio State vs. Indiana
Yes, let's talk objectively. Were did I use that word? I used it in reference to continuing to call Sark, "Seven win Steve". That is, as I said above, lazy, stupid and objectively wrong. He was won 7 or fewer games in exactly one season here, that was his first. He has since won 8, 12, 13, and this year at least 9. Did we take a step back this year? Absolutely. As for the pre-season ranking, there were many on here who correctly pointed out the stupidity of that, and all preseason rankings. and correctly surmised that this year's team would probably lose 2-3 games. I would also caution against comparing Sark to Elko. Elko had the benefit of an experience O line and a Charmin-soft schedule. They may very well end their season with 2 consecutive losses, and nobody outside College Station will remember this year. And yes, Sark is a massive improvement over Charley and Herman, but that's because they were who preceded him. Who else would he be an improvement over? Certainly late-era Mack, and arguably even early-Mack. He is also an improvement over Mackovic, and MacWilliams. If you want DKR levels of success, that's fine and should be the goal, but maybe go back and look at DKR's record before getting to Texas as well as his first 4 seasons at Texas. He would never have lasted with this crowd.
