That's Red Turner on the left, and Tommy Shannon third from left, from Johnny Winter's old band. Of course, Tommy went on to play with Stevie again in Double Trouble.

Barbarossa with Willie Nelson and Gary Busey. Great western that seems to have been lost and forgotten.

Arkansas game week
JFC, do you dickheads not read the whole thread? Mrhog addressed this in one of his first posts, and it has been reiterated several times in subsequent posts that he has Cerebral Palsy, and is typing as best as he can. He's contributing, and being respectful, and I don't think it's too much to ask to be respectful in return. A little awareness goes a long way.

The Eyes of Texas
"As black students, we kind of feel as if it's not like our voices are heard," said Al-Nasser Lawal, a senior at the school and president of the UT-Austin chapter of the NAACP. As a graduate of the University of Texas, I am embarrassed that this sentence was spoken by a student at my Alma Mater. JFC, do schools no longer teach English grammar? Also, as others have pointed out, just because you didn't get the result you wanted doesn't mean you weren't heard. Welcome to Life, young man. The idea of trying to get the Federal government to force the University to change the school song because you find it offensive would be humorous if it wasn't so pathetic.

41 Years Ago Tonight
Yeah, I don't understand this at all. This was a nationally televised game on ABC, so there has to be video of it somewhere. You'd think LHN could work it into the rotation.

It doesn't matter how many times I see it and hear it, I always choke up when I watch 4th and 5 with Keith Jackson's call. Every freakin' time.

41 Years Ago Tonight
I was sitting on about the 30 yard line on the east side of DKR for a Monday night game against Arkansas. ABC TV had moved the game to September 1 because they wanted the UT/Ark game to be the first televised game of the new decade. There was great energy on campus in the run up to this game, and anticipation for the new season. We destroyed piggie, in what started out to be a very promising, but ultimately disastrous season. I just realized that we are now exactly the same amount of time removed from that game, as that game was removed from Germany's invasion of Poland. No wonder the youngsters think I'm old...I am old...furk.

Ok...so this one's just kind of hanging out there, waiting for someone to smash it. Any takers?

Call Your Shot - Predict Texas Football's 2021 Regular Season Record
Maybe it's the Kool-aid talking, but I'm thinking we exceed expectations this year. Turtle Tom could coach this team to 8-9 wins, and with our upgrade in coaching, and presumed upgrade in QB play and greater usage of our running game and overall upgrade in play calling, I'm feeling salty about this year. I don't see a guaranteed loss on our schedule, and I'm not as concerned about TCU, ISU, or OK State as some on here, although I guess any of them could be a loss. Winning can be contagious, and I think we're going into the OU game undefeated. My gut is telling me we don't lose more than 2, and I think we can do better than that. F it, I'm calling 10-1 and a trip to the Big XII title game...then again, PTSD tells me I may be disappointed.

Houston Nostalgia Picture Thread
My family moved to Houston in 1970, and my dad worked in the then brand-new One Shell. We were all very proud of the fact that dad worked in "the tallest building west of the Mississippi".

Mr. Bowlsby, Please provide one example, just one, of these lies that our leaders and top coaches told you. You don't have to identify the source of this lie. Since you spoke to so many people over such an extended period of time, you won't be outing anybody, and you should have numerous examples to share. Just one specific example of a lie would suffice. Otherwise, shut the fuck up, and go fuck yourself, you worthless sack of shit. Thank you. Respectfully, Surly.- Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain
It's a long time ago now, but shortly after his death, I remember watching an episode of Tony re-visiting his old haunts in NYC; places he lived, worked, and hang out. I don't know if this was the last complete episode he shot, or just one of the last, but he said something in it that stuck with me. He was visiting with an old friend of his, who was lamenting the fact that all of the old buildings from the neighborhood were being demolished and replaced with shiny new condos. Tony immediately said something along the lines of, "As the owner of one of those condos, am I part of the problem?" I have since wondered if part of Tony's depression stemmed from the belief that he had become that which he spent a large part of his adulthood and professional life despising and ridiculing; a very big, very famous, and very rich celebrity out of touch with common people? I believe he had a genuine love for common people, and it's too bad he couldn't see that so many people felt the same way towards him.- Texas Football Podcasts, Press Conferences & Interviews Thread
I usually find RJ Young kind of tedious to listen to, as he tends to wander off topic, but occasionally, he makes a good point. Here he takes issue with the notion that Texas and OU are going to find out out it's like to play "real" football once they join the SEC, and he's right...I think those goobers in our new neighborhood have no clue what's about to hit them in the face once we move in.- Vince Young Perpetual Appreciation Thread
Isn't John Saunders the guy who was crapping all over Texas all that season, pushing Virginia Tech as more worthy of matching up with USC? They guy's dead now, so I'll refrain from saying, "Fuck that guy."- Its happening (stadium renovations)
