2022 Class Predictions
I'm don't remember exactly, but the average of the 308.xx group of recruits was something like .93xx Is .02xx difference a large number? I don't know. I would guess that it is a significant difference.

2022 Class Predictions
Not to split hairs but 2022 ended up .9100 (25.4813/28=.9100) 2002 was .9104 but there were at least 11 that never really saw the field. If you include the seven (so far) transfers (using HS rating, not T rating) 2022 is .8926 Neyor, Milton, and Dorsey were not rated very high coming out of HS. There were 27 in the 2002 class. 2022 has 28 plus 7 transfers (may be more)

2022 Transfer Thread - It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Thanks for correcting my timeline. So Alcindor would have been about nine years old in 1956 and in fifth grade or so; not High School. The rest of the story about his #33 from Giant Steps is correct I'm pretty sure.

The 1956 Giants had 5 future Pro-football HOF members and nine NFL All-Pros on the team. Who knows if Landry and Lombardi would have won the championship without that level of talent. What I was attempting to point out was that two of the greatest coaches of all time had a lot of talent on their Championship team and in took three years, and BOTH of them to put it all together. By the way there were two other members of that 1956 Giants team that would go on to become Head Coaches beside Landry and Lombardi. Dick Nolan - San Fransisco 49r's and Alex Webster NY Giants.

Emlen Tunnell was the first African American to be inducted into the Pro-football Hall of Fame. Rosey Brown was an All-Pro OT and Rosey Grier was an All-Pro DT, both were African American. An interesting side note, Lew Alcindor was a young high school basketball player from New York in 1956. Mel Triplett was a RB on the Giants Championship team. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote in his 1984 memoir Giant Steps, that he wore #33 because that was Mel Triplett's number on the Giants. Triplett was MVP in the 1956 Championship game against the Chicago Bears.

The 1953 New York Giants were horrible. 3-9 and last place even though they had five Pro-football Hall of Fame players on the rooster: Frank Gifford RB, Emlen Tunnell DB, Tom Landry DB/P, Arnie Weinmeister DT; Rosey Brown OT; and Charlie Conerly QB (College Football Hall of Fame), plus All-Pro Kyle Rote WR. In 1954 Tim Mara hired an assistant coach from Army to be the Offensive Coordinator. That assistant was Vince Lombardi. Mara also made Tom Landry the Defensive Coordinator (player/coach). Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry, under Head Coach Jim Lee Howell took that 3-9 last place team to 7-5 and 3rd place. In 1955 they went 6-5-1 and again 3rd place. In 1956 Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi (Howell HC) won the NFL Championship. Two of the greatest football coaches of all time needed the third year to win a championship. That 1956 NY Giants Championship team had five Pro-football Hall of Fame players on the rooster: Frank Gifford RB, Emlen Tunnell DB, Sam Huff LB, Andy Robustelli DT, Rosey Brown OT; and Charlie Conerly QB (College Football Hall of Fame), plus All-Pro Kyle Rote WR and Rosey Grier DT.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
gmr548, Although I may differ with you on the outcome of specific games, we are in complete agreement on the overall record. 6-6 or 7-5 regular season is what it is going to be. 6-6 regular season probably gets Texas a B1G team they can beat in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl, thus 7-6. A regular season of 7-5 will get Texas an SEC team in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl which will probably beat Texas, thus 7-6. Either way I agree the 7.5 line for the over /under is probably correct. Basically I was saying the under @7.5 without including a bowl game outcome was a sure bet. The under @7.5 with a bowl game outcome is still a pretty fair bet. The over@7.5 with a bowl game outcome is no better than even money odds and thus not a very good bet at all.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
If Texas beats Baylor I think they will participate in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis to play an "also ran" SEC team. If Texas loses to Baylor then its the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix to play an "also ran" B1G team. Not including a bowl game outcome in your wager almost assuredly makes taking the under @7.5 a sure bet. Even if you include a bowl game outcome in the wager you are only getting even money odds for the over. Not a very good bet at all.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
You 7.5 number is interesting. @ULM, UTSA, Iowa St, TCU, and @Kansas are all most likely wins. 5-0 Alabama, Oklahoma (Dallas), @Oklahoma St are all probable losses. 5-3 West Virginia and @Texas Tech are toss-ups so 6-4. @Kansas St and Baylor are tougher toss-ups so probably 6-6 or may be 7-5. History says Texas will lose one and win one they should not. Either way Texas goes 7-5 or 6-6 in the regular season. So, my inquiry about including a bowl outcome is germane to the wager if Texas beats either Kansas St or Baylor. Of course, if Texas loses to both, then a bowl game would not affect the 7.5 line. Texas could get 8 wins if they beat either Kansas St or Baylor; and win a bowl game. Hence your 7.5 being an interesting line.

closetohumping, Are you including the outcome of a bowl game in the 7.5 over/under?

OK fine, Texas Tech is a win, then Iowa St is a loss. Still 6-5 going into the Baylor game. Sark will end up 7-6 after the bowl mark my words

Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Texas Tech, and Kansas St. are all losses in 2022 ULM, UTSA, West Virginia, Iowa St, TCU, and Kansas are wins 6-5 when Baylor comes to Austin the Saturday after Thanksgiving Beat Baylor and Sark goes to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis to play an SEC "also-ran" like Ole Miss, Arkansas, Missouri, etc. Lose to Baylor and its the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix to play a B1G "wanna-be" like Nebraska, Maryland, Northwestern, etc. either way Texas won't see eight wins in 2022

2022 Transfer QB Quinn Ewers
Back in the late 70's, when Jimmy Carter was president, his brother Billy had a beer named after him that he was promoting. it was bad, really bad. I remember one summer the Piggly Wiggly on El Camino Real in Clear Lake had it on sale for ~$6.50 a case, plus tax.

2022 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
Are members of the coaching and support staff State of Texas employees? If so, do they fall under the same HR guidelines (protection) that other state employees fall under? The reason I ask is that it's damn near impossible to terminate any State of Texas employee, even "for cause." Once you have passed the probationary period there is very little recourse for termination. A job with the State of Texas is almost like for life if you want it. I don't know, but this may contribute to the chronic bloat and rot inside Belmont.

Wrong song, it was not "Thank Heaven for Little Girls."

Maurice Chevalier singing "Thank Heaven for Little Girls," to Hermione Gingold from the 1958 musical Gigi! Directed by Vincente Minnelli (Judy Garland's husband and Liza Minnelli's father). Also starring Louis Jourdan and Leslie Caron. Gigi! won nine Oscars at the 1958 Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writing, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Costumes, Best Film Editing, Best Song, & Best Musical Score). At the time, only Gone with the Wind (10 Oscars in 1939) had won more. Ben Hur (11 Oscars) would eclipse that in 1959, but Gigi! is still one of the best movies of all time. If you want to score major points with your "significant other," watch this movie on a date night. It is Rated G.

Texas Tech Ags use M4 propane cannon to send Grackles to Kyle Field. https://www.lubbockonline.com/article/20140110/NEWS/301109781 Ever parked a car under shade trees at H-E-B, Lowes, Academy, etc., parking to escape the Texas sun? And then returned to find the vehicle covered with bird shit? The shit-fest most likely came from Grackles.
