  1. I've been having a ton of trouble with the text box not auto-emptying if I left a half-written thought and the leave the page. There's no "clear text" clickable like there used to be, and it's a pain in the butt on mobile to highlight all the text and delete it without mangling the reply you've already typed out Is there an auto-clear toggle that you can give us, or re-enable the "clear text" popup?
  2. they're just doing it for the love of the game
  3. Yes there were teething troubles, like any new technology has. It's a worthwhile investment. EMALS puts significantly less stress on airframes since it can ramp up to full force, and is calibrated for each launch. Steam is just fill her up to a set PSI with a 20% safety margin on top and let er rip. And the piping and greasing required for working with that much steam is a significantly higher maintenance burden while underway and conducting operations.
  4. Yeah I can't imagine why the child sex trafficking president trump isn't interested in hearing from his victims
  5. That transformer architecture hasn't fundamentally changed in the last three years, and all the "growth" in capabilities is from improved prompting and application orchestration around the base LLM. Its all been from money whipping the problem instead of reapproaching from first principles. AWS and Azure have gleefully been ripping out developer roles and replacing them with genAI, and whoopsie poopsie they've brought down both clouds and introduced major security bugs to W11 in the last 6 months. You don't need to tell me about the state of the art, I am a specialist in this space and it is one of the tools in my toolbox that I use to help my customers build out their business solutions. I can tell you firsthand, LLMs aren't getting broad adoption from the people actually doing the work - it's broadly business idiots trying to improve their latest KPI by integrating AI, and then bragging about it on LinkedIn
  6. Digital or not, time drift can happen between recording audio and video devices. It's a pain but also a solved problem with good network time protocols. I would bet that kid rock does not have a savvy tech team that can put together a good technical show, and I can believe he fucked up lip syncing in a pre recorded show
  7. So on the one hand, depending on how the files are stored, that's a trivial thing to accomplish and might have been enabled by default. Highly sensitive records almost always have access logging enabled on them, and S3 buckets and azure blobs have that as a checkbox function. The bigger issue is the abuse of that data and information, as there is no avoiding the creation of that metadata to create an access paper trail
  8. Sounds like a dead drive which sucks but should be an easy RMA
  9. Maintenance of tech debt and existing business obligations, while balancing cost and development resources is the thing that Claude ain't gonna be able to build a dataset on, and will be what keeps it from gaining broad adoption. Architecturaly, nothing is stopping an LLM from having that sort of fine tuned knowledge of your specific infra and legacy requirements. But it will take a few hundred megawatts of computing to train your custom model to do that one single thing. And if you make any changes, that's another training run to incorporate the new changes into the neural network.
  10. Especially because there is no recourse to an agent completely bumblefucking your environment. It's giving a machine gun to a drunk monkey and expecting it to direct traffic smoothly. Like, sure, with enough time and training it'll eventually work. But wouldn't those resources have been better spent actually producing something tangible?
  11. Daily reminder that chickensandwich bravely ran away from addressing his repeated failures in running blindly with the fascist story. Just like he did in 2020 Chicago Sun-TimesBorder Patrol agents say 'time to get aggressive' in foot...Martinez is expected to announce a new lawsuit stemming from her Oct. 4 shooting by a Border Patrol agent at a press conference Wednesday. Her attorneys say newly released evidence will show an agentThe legal process takes time, and the fascists have been taking good advantage of acting aggressively before the law reacts, but it seems like at least some legal checks are coming to bear
  12. He's in the process of fucking up the Ford Class CVN's by ordering them to redesign away from EMALS and back to steam catapults
  13. This is just evangelizing and sunshine pumping. The article concludes with encouraging people to subscribe to Claude lol
  14. Would you be interested in buying a beach house in Nebraska? Yes, this BLS which was reshaped because they put out numbers that were “rigged in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad” is definitely a good source of information. Interestingly, the household survey showed zero changes and their published report's "good news" was only from employers saying they're hiring more. And most importantly, SOMEONE GET WULAW HORN!!! THEY PUBLISHED CORRECTIONS DOWNWARD!!!!! ITSFRAUDRABBGLEGABGRLRE The seasonally adjusted total nonfarm employment level for March 2025 was revised downward by 898,000. On a not seasonally adjusted basis, the total nonfarm employment level for March 2025 was revised downward by 862,000, or -0.5 percent. Not seasonally adjusted, the absolute average benchmark revision over the prior 10 years is 0.2 percent. The change in total nonfarm employment for 2025 was revised from +584,000 to +181,000 (seasonally adjusted). Table A presents revised total nonfarm employment data on a seasonally adjusted basis from January to December 2025.
  15. Pablo Torre keeps finding out, it's wild The lawsuit against Aspiration has been ammended to directly include Ballmer, and Ballmer's response filing is directly blaming PTFO for all of this lol. In this episode, Pablo goes on to do more due dilligence on this newly amended suit, as well as other so far unreported suits that provide more corrobating evidence for Pablo's claims. In particular, Ballmer might have lied in his court filings. Or at least his definition of "heavy due diligence" being five calendar days over Labor Day weekend is probably not going to be a good defense against the claims of being an accessory to fraud
  16. Income inequality in the US today is greater than it was during the Gilded Age during the 30s or the start of the French Revolution when they started to eat their rich
  17. British Woman shot by dad in Texas after 'arguing about D...Lucy Harrison, 23, was alone in a bedroom at her father's home in Texas when she was shot dead.Prosper man murders daughter, tells cops a sob story about relapse and gets it knocked down to manslaughter
  18. unironically, I shifted my 401k and portfolio to have a much heavier proportion of EU businesses and it's been green since the move. VEU is basically a "not US companies" index fund that has been basically 2x over SPY for the last year
  19. Interesting and disheartening that the most important source of information in this story - BLS data - has been utterly ruined by trump47. The government's commitment to counting, to simply collect and publish data as a signal of at least trying to be truthful and honest, is going to sorely missed as we navigate the wreckage of this bubble's sudden and invevitable pop.
  20. Huh, gee who could have guessed that there's an ongoing cartel of malicious companies conspiring to set price floors and extract more money from consumers??? The lawsuit from Lina Kahn's FTC was dropped by the trump FTC and then after suing to get access to the court filings under a FOIA filing, it's clear there is price fixing ongoing. As one example, PepsiCo and Walmart entered into an agreement that would monitor all competitors for "leakage" of sales to anyone not Walmart, and then raise prices on that competitor to specifically benefit Walmart. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
  21. That is an ideal fit, where the logs are typically and recognizably structured - until an error hits. There's a wealth of technical documentation on troubleshooting errors, and what "normal" and "not normal" look like. In my own experience, that's a great usecase and one of the more powerful applications of an LLM. Critically though, it's not creating something new. Merely transforming information out of one format and into another. Which is a great usecase for a transformer model like an LLM Edit: and not kidding, an M4 Macbook or Mac mini can run a whole stack LLM and RAG ingestion/query platform. It's really straightforward to build a local "sage" application to give domain specific citations to documentation, I've done it for Battletech tabletop and for my 5e game. Super handy to get cited to the page and line of a PDF that clarifies the game situation
