2022 Texas Softball - Locked and Loaded
The consistency of this team is its most remarkable feature. OU's average score vs ranked opponents this year is 6.79 to 2.0 (over 14 games). They're 12-2 in those games with five run rules. Opponents have scored more than 2 runs only four times (3, 4-loss, 4-loss, 8), and the Sooners have scored less than 5 runs only four times (2-loss, 3-loss, 3, 4). One of the cool things about OU's 2021 national championship was that they came back and beat each of the four teams that beat them (GA-run rule, Ok St-run rule, James Madison, and FSU).

That would be a great get don't you think?

This may be true if limited to UT, but Monica Abbott and even Alo this year are 4x All-Americans. I'm guessing there are several others.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars
The stadium was named for old Cardinal Stadium, which is located at the Kentucky Exposition Center, but with corporate naming rights formerly providing a prefix to the main name. John Schnatter, a native of nearby Jeffersonville, Indiana, donated $5 million for the naming rights to the stadium, which he used to christen the venue for his Papa John's Pizza chain.[8] Schnatter made a further $10 million donation for the stadium's expansion,[8] and extended the naming rights to the year 2040.[9] The stadium was christened on September 5, 1998; the Cardinals lost the opening game to the Kentucky Wildcats 68–34[10] but won all other home games that year.[10] On July 13, 2018, the stadium was renamed Cardinal Stadium by University of Louisville President Neeli Bendapudi. The change was a reaction to Schnatter using a racial slur on a Papa John's conference call. From Wikipedia.

I can see the point with SEC being overrated, but FSU and VaTech just had great regular seasons. FSU was 15-2 vs ranked competition and beat UCLA, Ok St (x2), UT (TX and TN), FL (x2) amongst those wins. Their run differential really good to if you remove the 23-9 loss VaTech gave them. They were clearly the second best team in the country. VaTech was a really balanced team all year and went 14-7 vs ranked teams and also had a really good differential. The Hokies, UCLA, Az St, or Ark could all have an argument for #3.

Most definitely they will. Just like they claim all of A&M's football titles.

Congratulations on your team reaching its goal! Jefferson is an amazing player and seems like an equally wonderful person. Her records will be hard to top.

Sooner fans anticipate seeing other teams on the other side of the bracket. VaTech is probably the most balanced team left outside of OU. UCLA is the other team to worry about with their deep pitching strength. If FL wins in Blacksburg today, that'll be 3 unseeded teams in that half of the bracket with only #7 Ok St. High variance sports.

I understand the SEC hate, but if you're actually interested in winning the WCWS, FL is the team to cheer for today. With all the caveats of this being a high variance sport, VaTech has proven to be better this year overall. Among the seeded teams still alive, the Gators have the worst pitching and are the only team with negative score differential versus other ranked teams (and unsurprisingly, a losing record, 11-13). For those that aren't fans of OU here, you probably want to root for Arizona State. The Sun Devils have the bats to keep up with the Sooners.

Agree. OU needs more variety in the teams they play in the finals series.

OU Recruiting 2023: Blowing and Going
Agree. This policy of not letting commits take other visits coupled with OU's underwhelming NIL and "NIL" programs is crippling OU's recruiting. Venables has shown the capacity to learn. He's already pivoted on his stance against heavily using the portal.

I don't know about the Ewers part, but Williams (and Riley) is going to have to show that he can beat zone defense this year, likely behind a pretty bad offensive line. USC's WR group was already ok with Brendan Rice, Mario Williams, Jake Smith (j/k). Addison is obviously better than all of them, but getting a top OT would have made a bigger impact on winning for the Trojans.

2022 Texas Softball - Locked and Loaded
This OU team isn't hitting as well as last years, and the Sooner bats have been relatively quiet the last 15 games. OU's runs per game is down to 7 (from 9) during this time. Throw out a 19-spot vs hapless Kansas and that average is 6.4. 6.4 would still be top 15 in the nation, but teams like Arkansas, Tennessee, and UCLA average about the same in better conferences. Jody Bahl is the real difference maker for OU. The Sooners didn't have anyone like her last year. If she's not fully healthy, OU's definitely a good, not great team.

If UT is 16 or 17 and wins, I guess that'll mean a trip to Norman for a OU-UT super-regional.

Can't be right. OU's shut out Bama twice alone (1997, 2016). Maybe in conference tournament. Mizzou is good.

I'm aware. RPI isn't the sole factor determining seeding. Last year, OU wasn't #1 in RPI either.

lol any prediction that doesn't have OU #1.

I think that's what Caleb and Mario Williams were doing.

If he'd gone to UT, it would've kept him from going to FAU where he led the Owls to #75 DFEI. Now he works for his brother.

There'll be time enough for prognostication over the next few months. We'll see how confident you and your ilk are in your predictions in August.

OU better do something. They have only 8 WR total, including 2 Fr (Fr WR are usually bad) and third year players who've been just JAGs.
