Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
As much as I like Gerry and Bobby, IT has a pretty bad track record on prognostication at this point.

I affirmatively agree.

I caught the cancer
The third round was the charm! I’m cancer free and in remission! No surgery either because my lymph nodes shrank back to normal and showed no signs of residual damage, not even evidence of necrotic tissue. I’m going to Hawaii, the Alabama game, and SE Asia by the end of this year. I know this is Surly, but my cynicism is gone haha. God is good! Time to party!

Good move. It was a weird hiring from the start

Season Ticket Renewal
Didn’t bother renewing this year. Home slate in the little 12 is piss poor. Will likely come back next year or the year after

No better splash of cold water than to see Brandon Harris tweeting again. He's the Jim Cramer of recruiting

NBA Playoffs 2023
When I saw Boston start 0-10 from 3 and saw Miami really commit to its effective zone defense, I knew this one was over. The big question is whether Mazzulla Rodney Terry'd his way to keeping his job by reaching game 7.

Realignment talk not going away
Having spent time in Connecticut, I cannot imagine a more stupid decision by the Big 12 than to take UConn. The football is a total negative that offsets the short-term success of basketball. It's isolated in a region with little interest in college football, hundreds of miles even from West Virginia, and with no resources to build a good program. Not even AAC schools could summon the interest or motivation to play well here, so it's not even a guarantee of a free win. I would laugh really hard at the remaining Big 12 schools if they take UConn. There would be no spinning that.

2023 Houston Rockets Offseason Thread - Time to Start Thinking About Winning Again
If we think Scoot is the guy at point guard, then we need to trade up to get him. Portland and Charlotte both have good point guards, though whether Portland keeps Lillard is a total unknown. I'd think #4, #20, Martin, and maybe Tate would get it done. I'm also fine with Amen Thompson at 4. I hate the idea of doing an S&T for Harden using one or both picks or something similar for Lillard.

I caught the cancer
Add me to the list. Currently on the third cycle of three rounds of chemo treatment for Stage IIB/III testicular cancer after the cancer returned via my lymph nodes. This last cycle should be it for me barring a major lymph node removal surgery if the tumors aren’t gone completely. I was able to finish all of my classes this spring at my MBA program and am planning to reward myself with a trip to Iceland in August and/or Texas-Alabama in the fall. All credit to CDC. My brother contacted him, and he sent me a UT baseball cap and a personal note wishing me well. It’s not just an act for Twitter.

I like Cam Johnson if we get Scoot or Victor. Jaylen Brown is going to be expensive if we have to give up assets and pay him the super max. Harden plus another veteran point guard would make for a solid team.

If we need an edge rusher, I’m sure Andrew Fitzgerald still has some eligibility. He gets the rousing endorsement of Charlie Strong

McCullers has been a far bigger waste of cap space IMO. He should probably be a late inning reliever only. If he could even stay healthy

Texas Basketball Recruiting Notes: It's Miller Time
I agree, though if we're looking for taller guys, it needs to be wings who can actually shoot. We had Timmy Allen and Dillon Mitchell. Jordan Miller ate us alive and was the difference in the game

Texas vs Miami- Elite 8- 4:05pm on CBS
The refs were just gasoline feeding the fire that was Terry's bad lineups, lack of adjustments, and overreliance on Carr and Allen. The offense was Timmy Allen bricks and turnovers for way too long. Dillon Mitchell got a lot of minutes in the second half, but Morris, who might have been able to spell Carr well, didn't play. We didn't call any plays (or called stupid ones) down the stretch, and Carr made mistakes on back-to-back possessions.

Rodney Terry
Yeah, while this is probably overthinking it, I’d also wait to announce it. The players seem inspired to play for him to win a contract

I don’t trust Dusty to manage this team to our advantages. He neutralized our biggest one tonight by not taking Verlander out and pitching Luis for 0.2

Verlander chokes worse than Kershaw and James Harden combined in the playoffs. And Dusty is a clown who deserves every World Series loss he’s taken
