Thanks, I'll give it a listen. Satellite Rides is actually one of my favorites, Blame It not so much. I like a balance, some of the pop stuff is good if it's done right, but I need my "If My Heart Was a Car" chuggers as well, and pretty much anything Murry does is good with me.- Old 97's appreciation thread
I used to be super-into them, but as I've gotten older, kind of tapered off, just due to life, lack of time, etc. I checked out a couple of their later albums a while back on Spotify and really liked them, will have to give them another listen. My brother was a roadie for them for a while, and they helped us out a lot when he passed, I'll always be thankful to them for that. As for the music, I've always been partial to the early stuff, I guess just because that's when I was most into them. Gonna have to make an effort to go see them live again. Probably my top 3 favs (today, anyway...)- Donald Trump 2019

I tried to find a gif about poking the bear, but this seems more appropriate. Actually, since we all know who the mole is, maybe this one.- Hide your kids, hide your wife (SEC to allow alcohol sales)
Yeah no. My daughter went to Rice from 2009-2012 and they sold beer beginning the 2010 season I think inside the stadium, had a place in the north end zone called the Roost, a little beer garden you could drink $7 Miller Lites and watch the game. The next year they moved it to the visitors side upper deck . And I was in Longhorn Band 84-89 and took a trip to Boulder 1988 maybe, they were selling beer in the stadium then. Flip side, took a trip to Provo in 1987 or so and they didn't even sell caffeinated drinks, just Sprite.- ShaggyTexas Handover
Gotta admit, I'm a lurker over there, in that I just check in every couple of days (mainly due to a link from several years ago to an active, real time radar that I use when storms are a-comin'), just find the whole situation fascinating (yeah I know, get a life) the whole abandonment of a thriving message board. Plus I love watching a slow motion train wreck. And seeing what nutjob mofo will say next (although even the novelty seems to have worn off for him, only posts every 5 days or so now...). I did notice that in the last day or so the post count went up by about 5, and the members count increased by 1, even though the shown newest member joined in August of last year. So there is obviously another secret squirrel area that somebody is using over there, for what purposes I have no idea, mods I guess. I guess if you want to pay for a message board to be your own private text messenger, go for it.- Leon Redbone has died
Only thing I ever liked about Budweiser...- Best/Favorite debut album
Not the greatest debut albums, but these both came out around the same time in 1986, and with all the over-processed, impersonal crap coming out at that time, it was like "whoa, this is... different, and real". Funny, ordered both of these from Columbia House, the Steve Earle for my wife, who was more into country (or at least 80's country) and the Georgia Satellites for me, and we wound up trading, I wore that Steve Earle tape out.- The Cars
In my top 10 all-time favorite bands. Bought everything they've ever done, I bought f-ing Door to Door, and the comeback CD a few years ago. Just like ELO, some hits, some filler, and some hidden gems.- RIP Bart Starr
- Texas BBQ
I live in Taylor and I've probably eaten at Louie Mueller 4-5 times, tops, in 25 years. Just too damn expensive. I can guarantee you walk in there on a weekend, 85% minimum of clientele is out of towners. Even on a weekday, probably over half are. I went to Vencil's two weeks, got a 3-meat plate for 10.79. Was it the best BBQ, no, but it was pretty damn good, I can get 3 of those for what one beef rib costs me at Louie's. Davis Market and Vencil's are fine with me. That's where you'll find the locals.- Texas Sex Offender - 1 mile count

Don't forget Big Toe Warren Oates and El Guapo Alfonso Arau.- The Wild Bunch
William Holden. Nuff said. Now fuck off with this bullshit.- Here we appreciate Rockpile/Nick Lowe/Dave Edmunds
Just saw this today on No Depression. I really like it. As they described it, Neil Diamond walking around an Ennio Morricone soundtrack, with some Orbison thrown in at the end.- Springsteen coming out with a new album
Definitely, also hear a little "Everybody's Talkin'" in there (to my ears anyway), and just the overall vibe/lyrics remind me a lot of Jimmy Webb, could fit right in with "Gentle on My Mind"... For sure got that late 60's/early 70's sound to it, which I really dig. - RIP Dr. John
