  1. To hell with all those that disparage Sam. Signed a non-Westlake fan PS. I’ll never forget that 3rd grade spelling bee ass kicking at Eanes ISD. I still don’t know how to spell “colloquial” much less what knows it means. But third grade me sure knows to spell “I quit.”
  2. I’m curious about opinions on “the law of averages.”
  3. Michigan is not a good comp, but that Arkansas game isn’t either. Michigans WRs are a 1 as group compared to a 10 for OSU. You swap WRs and that’s bigger than swapping QBs.
  4. https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/tampa-bay-buccaneers/jake-majors-waived-wrist-injury/ This article indicates Majors had and maybe has a future with the Bucs if he hadn’t gotten injured or upon return to health.
  5. I saw the following were cut. Not certain if they were signed to practice squads. Lil Jordan Collin Johnson DShawn Jamison Keondre Coburn
  6. I do not believe you are trying to mislead, but the OSU collective is misleading on the Oline experience discussion in comparison to Texas experience. I understand Jackson became LT after the prior starting LT went down. Jackson was still a 3 year starter, which made that transition easier. I won’t belabor the point anymore. None of this matters come kickoff. You certainly have enough good players to win again.
  7. This is the post I referenced. Unless the information is flat out wrong by a long shot, Jackson and Fryar played all the snaps at Tackle in the playoffs but 9 each in the Tennessee game. And unless it’s wrong again, you don’t have anyone starting this year that logged any snaps at Tackle for the Ohio State last year. Ohio State certainly has a 4th guy that played and started a handful of games. And I suppose Daniels did start a few games at Minnesota. So perhaps I’m misreading your intention. But I’ve read a number of Ohio State commentary posts on their OLine so forgive me. In any event, I don’t see that 4 guys ever started together and certainly not in the same spots projected this year. When Montgomery started last year, he was in place of one of the other projected starters this year as best I can tell. We aren’t counting Hutson or Goosby as returning guys even though they similar resumes.
  8. I forgot but he was hurt against UTSA then missed two games only to be hurt again versus OU. Is that right?
  9. You previously said 4 of 5 OL guys were back or something along those lines. Fryar and Jackson were #1 and 3 in terms of play snaps last year for your entire offense. One 3 -year starter, one a 2-year starter. As best I can tell, your 4 guys never started or really played at the same time. At DB, Williams for us prior to injury was heavily involved in the safety rotation for two years. Then McDonald as far as reps/years in the program tracks Mathews experience on your side. I did not see this clarified.
  10. If you are referring to The Seive, he got no snaps at Tackle last year. He played 17 versus Texas. All at RG. 1 sack, 1 penalty. The Sieve. 4 of his 6 best grades were in the first 4 games. In his last 5, he was in the 60s once, 40s once and 50s 4 times. Tegra was in the 70s twice. In his last 5 games, he was 60s twice, 50s twice, 40s once. Hinzman 70s once all year. Last 5 games, 1 60s, 2 50s, 2 40s. Montgomery was 70s twice all year. Did not play versus Michigan so last 4 games he was 70, 60, and 2 50s. He played fewer snaps and may be the best of the 5. Daniels. 4 games with more than 11 reps. 50s twice, 40s twice. Conner had a high of 80, no 40s. His last 5 games 1 80, 2 60s, 2 50s. Campbell all season had 2 40s, 1 80, 3 70s. Last 5 were 70, 60, 50 and 2 40s.
  11. I listed guys that I appreciated being here specifically at a position that was specifically referenced. They committed/signed under Herman irrespective of the things you mentioned. The big points in my post were factual but sure lean in to your feelings about Herman and interject points that I didn’t mention.
  12. Yeah that Moro Ojomo, Coburn, Sorrell, Broughton, Collins, Sweat and Murphy were pretty weak. Sark has and is doing a lot of great things. But set aside your flair for the dramatic and count all the DTs and DEs that Sarks staff recruited to Texas from the high school ranks - Simmons, Burke and maybe January. Then also consider that the portal and NIL have likely been advantage Texas. Herman likely never brings us to our current level. I also wanted to whip his ass a time or several. But there can be a bit of appreciation for the guys he brought to campus that have played a part in getting us here.
  13. I like it. Or maybe I wouldn’t if it was every play but still probably more palatable than being around me. But these days I’ve calmed and let the people above me be overly boisterous. I do appreciate that kinda passion.
  14. Jimmy, we’ve come along way since those days in section 109. You didn’t use to yell “drop it” when we kicked to the other team did you? As I think back on it, that dude was one my favorite fans. I’m not even sure he took offense to my antics. And, yes, I know I’m not making sense.
  15. His first game as a starter as THE starter. Or whatever.
  16. Some felt that Michigan was too often in cover 3. The first 3rd and long that was converted to Bond. Deep middle safety. If cover 3, the corner did an awful job. That was on him. The TD pass called back. Ewers broke the pocket. It was not really a play call or even an initial coverage issue. Same for the Helm TD catch. Ewers played well and made a few critical plays. Whatever Michigan ran, they mixed in 4, 5 and even a 6 man fronts before they dropped. It was more about our abilities and capabilities than whatever scheme Michigan ran.
  17. Yeah, I don’t get it. We will see if those guys working together on the 2nd team breeds some familiarity too. When your Oline turns over, this is pretty much the ideal scenario. It’d be more concerning if it were last years OSU DLine. They aren’t anymore blue blooded or experienced than we are.
  18. It’ll be interesting to see the reaction to whomever is the emergency QB.
  19. The grades of their returning Olinemen are not good. I think you could throw Hutson in there as far confidence level. On paper there isn’t a reason for them to be so confident. Think it was Montgomery that did best against us as far as there returnees. Let’s assume the Minnesota guy starts. If I’m remembering correctly our projected Ts have more plays at T than theirs do. Hinzman and Hutson have similar play counts. Campbell has more than any Olineman. Tegra T is 2nd on OSU with 850 plays and graded out at 58.
  20. I’m sure that’s the case, but they aren’t protected there. If somebody wants your #3, he’s gone one would think. Then if you lose your #1, you’re scrambling for a #2.
  21. I have not either, but it was previously stated that all AFC teams kept 3 last year. You can use the 3rd guy to get an extra active roster spot for each game too. You get to expand the GameDay roster to 49 for the 3rd QB and only the 3rd QB.
  22. It seems odd that any team would not keep 3 QBs. Odds are at least one goes down during the season so that 3rd guy will be active at some point. I suppose it’s that teams don’t view the 3rd guy as much. There’s talk that Sam will not make the roster. Obviously I’m a homer, but it’s difficult to imagine that whomever number 53 is proves more valuable than Sam.
  23. Cody Simon moved on to your Arizona Cardinals. They undoubtedly have talent, but they lost more on defense that we did. Collins, Broughton were 1 year starters at Texas. Makuba a half year starter at Texas. Sorrell may have had more starts than the others combined. For example, their departing secondary starters logged over 6,500 plays. Ours about 3,300. Their 4 Dline guys that left had 7,200 snaps whereas ours were 5,200, although that didn’t include Lole and Norton, but they were only here a year. They lost more experience at LB too. Thats 15,000 game reps that walked out the door. So they get younger, less experienced and a new DC. It’ll be disappointing if they transition into the new year better than we do. So we have more play experience returning with a massive push to fill our DT rotation to offset the losses there. There may be an acclimation period but not sure that’s wholly different than OSU with a new DC.
