2018-19 Houston Rockets Thread of running it back (mainly)
We're playing better because of a coach who hasn't joined the team yet? Interesting idea but I don't think that's it.

5-2 so far after the 1-5 start isn't too bad. 3 wins against good teams too. I don't think Melo is at fault at all for the poor start (other than him personally not shooting the ball well), but if he comes back, I think people are looking at it incorrectly if they are wanting him to fill Ariza/Luc's role from last year. The Rockets just need him to fill Ryan Anderson's role while the rest of the team stops playing like trash (in particular Paul and Gordon).

Really obvious fake "injuries" to stop the clock and momentum really need to be penalized.

You realize the Rockets went on a 2-7 stretch during last season as well, right?

The Rockets just need Harden back. Once they get everyone relatively healthy, they'll go on a run.

Kris Boyd probably should start showing up for meetings
Seems like he'd be better off skipping the meetings so he doesn't have to get abused on the field.

We have a ton of depth if everyone is healthy, especially on the wings. The place where we lack depth is inside. Even there, we might have ok depth with Nene and Chriss are healthy. I'm still hopefully for Hartenstein, but the two rebounds so far on the season isn't going to cut it. I mean we have Harden, Paul, Gordon, Tucker, Melo, Ennis, Green, Knight, and MCW. That's nine proven NBA caliber guys. Depth just looks bad when we're dealing with injuries/suspensions for four of them including the two most important.

And at the same time, they didn't really look any worse than Boyd. I'm saying I'd rather have them next year than what we are getting now from Boyd.

How do we look so unprepared for the first defensive drive every game? It's like a free touchdown every time.

Tom "the turtle" Herman [Lame Duck or greatest 5d chess player ever?]
If Gundy can run to midfield screaming without a flag, Herman should be able to do the same.

And it seemed like he was the "safe" option after they stopped trusting Jamison.

The secondary next year has to be better with the young guys getting more experience that what we have out there now.

The QB run on the last play seemed like such an obvious call. Boyd got absolutely abused, dropped one INT, and gave up a TD on what should have been an easy INT. The phantom hold to make us punt out of the end zone and whatever that bullshit punt penalty were awful calls that directly led to 14 points.

I still feel l like we're going too small too often for this point in the regular season. Really need another actual big to get minutes other than just Capela.

It's one game so pretty crazy to panic, but I really don't like going 20 minutes without a center on the floor against a team as big as New Orleans.

I guess playing to the level of your competition every game does keep the season interesting.

Shane actually throwing the ball well on this drive.

There were a bunch of empty seats at the TCU game. Not at all surprised there would be a bunch for Baylor

that definitely at least needed a measurement.

people are going to get mad at Shane for making the correct read and trying to take the free 10+ yards on first down?

Pretty nice turnaround after we got behind 10-6. Would be nice if Shane actually looks good in the 3rd and then we get a freshman in for the 4th.

The play calling that drive (even the passes everyone was bitching about) was really good. Shane just made some horrible throws.
