Too bad Hoppe (who has played like 60 minutes in the last 6 months) or Konrad (got hurt at the start of the year and hasn't played at all since) wasn't here to play instead...
If we tie Panama, they can't pass us. If we tie Costa Rica, they realistically can't pass us on goal differential. That should mean we are guaranteed to at least be fourth and make the playoff with one more point.
Can either of you explain the thought process behind why you would always be beat vs a competent player? It's been several years since I played poker consistently, but I'm not sure I understand the reasoning.
I mean, I said he ridiculously overreacted and that it's fine if Michigan fires him for it, they just don't have to fire him. It's just also blatantly clear that it is not a punch.
If you watch that and think it was a punch or attempted punch, you're a fucking moron. If Michigan wants to fire him, cool. Feel free. But this isn't a situation where he 100% has to get fired no matter what.
The whole "he threw a punch!" thing is pretty dumb. He didn't throw a punch. He tried to grab the dude's head to pull him closer to keep yelling at him (for whatever dumbass reason he wanted to do that). He ridiculously overreacted to the situation but I wouldn't say he needs to be fired just from this alone.
The rule used to be "win national player of the year, get your number retired". Durant and Ford did that. Aldridge was nowhere close. Basketball HOF would be something that sets him apart. Also, we should stop pretending Aldridge did more in college than Durant. Yes, he was here two years and there was more team success, but Aldridge was not even the best player on his team, while Durant was the best player in college.
I don't completely hate the idea but then don't you also need to retire numbers for guys like Mihm, Tucker, and Augustin? Seems like things start getting crowded pretty quickly. If/when he makes the basketball hall of fame, that probably sets him apart and you retire the number then.
New Spring (the prequel book) reveals that they were "pillow friends" but they definitely weren't banging at this point in the story in the books (at least not that we ever saw or were told about).
I definitely wanted more from this episode. Feels like they cut the season too short and are rushing but also kinda not a lot is going on. If the end of this season and then next season aren't better, not sure how long this is going to last.
There are actually two USL players Kobi Henry and Jonathan Gomez (and it sounds like the two of you are each talking about one of them).
To me, this feels like a perfect roster for this kind of game/camp if there was just one or two more promising young midfielders in the group.
I'm not loving it but I'll at least finish the season out to see if it gets better. The changes from the books don't bother me much in general. But everything to do with channeling just looks stupid. The "battle" scene at the end looked bad and everyone comes out of it seeming weak. I thought episode 4 was the worst episode so far.
The last two games Pepi and Jesus were the only two strikers. The window before that Pepi, Zardes, and Hoppe were called in as the potential strikers.
It feels like Pefok and Dike have dropped out of favor because they don’t fit the pressing style.
I've seen similar things to this several times now where people are worried that there is now a precedent that a person can just show up wherever they want with a gun and then start indiscriminately shooting whoever they want based on "I was afraid for my life".
I don't understand how this case would do anything of the sort. It wasn't some South Park "It's coming right for us!" situation. Everything was on video and we all got to see what happened. No matter what you think about Rittenhouse (he's an idiot who basically has zero chance now at becoming a reasonable human being), whether he should have been there (obviously not), or open carry laws (completely fucking stupid and should be done away with), he didn't just show up and start shooting whoever he felt like shooting.
Sure, you can come up with any hypothetical situation you'd like where some or all of the relevant information is hidden. There's no point in doing so, but go for it.
A person witnessing the shooting would have seen Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse, eventually catching up to him, and then Rittenhouse shooting in self defense. So they probably would not have been trying to detain Rittenhouse as a murderer.
Is this a real question? They both think they are heroes and are trying to play hero. How they are thought of after is entirely determined by who the person fleeing with a gun ends up being. "Good guy with a gun" is fucking stupid.
After the Mexico game, I'm curious to see where Reyna fits. He doesn't fit the mold of what Aaronson/Weah were doing at all. He also can't cover the ground in the middle like Musah/Adams/McKennie. I'd be interested to see Reyna as a false 9 to see how that looks. It's obviously overthinking things to leave him out of the lineup when healthy, but he's not a clean fit into any of the roles the looked really good against Mexico.
Sure, he's more of a wingback than a true right back. But the only time he's ever played any position for club or country other than right back or right wing back has been taking advantage of his versatility out of necessity because other options were unavailable, not because right back is not his position.
His position is very clearly right back. The only reason he ever plays left back for the US is because we have way more depth on the right. With Scally potentially able to backup both sides and Vines healthy again (and the Cannon/Reynolds/Moore right backs not looking as great at the moment), Dest hopefully won't have to move back to the left for a while.
Richards didn't start and Scally didn't even make the bench, so I'm not sure you can give the fanbase credit for clamoring for the lineup that started tonight. There was zero chance that Lletget, Acosta, or Roldan were going to start in this game.
This was also essentially the same lineup as the Costa Rica and Jamaica games from last window
