Lost track of how many coats. I think about 20? It’s coming along quite nicely. I think I went too fast on the GSI and the coating is a tiny bit tacky. I’ve run out of daylight, so I’m going to transfer it to the burner which can get it much hotter. Hopefully get to 30 layers on the Lodge in the next hour. Then do the same for the other skillet. It’s nice evening. Low 70s now. Practicing a little for church tomorrow.
Chalk this to up to me and my fiscal irresponsibility. I decided to pay my property tax a few days earlier (it was due on the 10th). With my paycheck coming in, I thought my bank account would cover the mortgage, CC bill and tax. I got a letter saying the e-check didn’t clear and it was late. So now I have to pay a hefty late fee. 🤬
Had an hour this morning and thought why not? Let’s get it on. First things first, heat them in grill to 450 degrees, and get the grape seed oil ready. 5 coats in, and there’s barely noticeable. The pan on the bottom is the GSI 12” light weight cast iron pan that I got this week. 10 coats in and the Lodge is getting darker. The GSI pan isn’t taking the season as well. I had stop to take my kid to jiu jitsu. I’ll try to get back to it this afternoon. The goal is to put on 30 coats. Will post pics of progress.
Has it only been a week since we stopped talking about Greenland? With DHS/ICE abducting and killing people, the FBI raiding election offices, Trump posting racist shit, let's not forget about the Epstein files.
Stupid e-bikers without any front or taillights, riding when it's already dark, wearing black of course, and getting pissed when drivers don't see them. If I run one down by accident. I'll make sure to back up to make sure they're not okay.
I have a Fender Texas Special at the neck and Seymour Duncan Broadcaster at the bridge. My words to describe the Texas Special is smooth, glassy, bell-like, sweet sounding with a good mid-range. It sounds good clean or slightly dirty. I consider he Broadcaster a classic rock pickup. It's got an okay bottom, Goldilocks tightness. Lots of mid-range and not shrill at the top. It can handle a little overdrive to metal. Maybe because it's mid-rangy, it doesn't stand out if you're trying to solo with it.
The agents in the San Antonio video need to be made famous. Protest outside their home, protest them when they into their cars, protest them when they go to the grocery store, protest them wherever they go. Protest until the pressure gets to them and they quit. Then keep protesting.
Looking through it now, looks like it's more targeted towards the Roku channel. Being but a simple man, I used Gemini to summarize the page. Parts I don't like: This part give me a little comfort: No matter where you go, your information is being collected. So unless you complete unplug from the internet, someone's watching what you're reading and watching.
I soaked the pan in easy-off for 2 days, and vinegar for 2 days. I spent about 45 minutes sanding off stubborn seasoning. I was thinking of sanding to a mirror finish, but without any power tools, just getting to bare metal is already a win. I’m not sanding the sides because the seasoning there is still good and I’m just gonna blend it in. You can see the manufacturing defects in the metal. I just rubbed a thin layer of oil to prevent rust and will spend Saturday afternoon seasoning it. The plan is to put on 30 layers, or however many I can put on within 3 beers.
I bought a 4-pack of Roku remote controls for $12. Thats $3 each. That’s $3 for the plastic shell, six buttons, the IR or whatever transmitter, the printed circuit board and chips and all the other little components. And that’s before the labor to assemble these, shipping and tariffs How is that even possible?
I'm still waiting for some white ICE to arrest brown ICE. For now, they can chalk it up as a mistake. A year from now, it'll be what they do, and not a mistake.
For the millionth time. Walk or look at your phone! Not at the same time! Don't stare at your screen and walk at 0.1 MPH. I got stuck behind a girl walking down the stairs while she was reading a text. I caught up and was 1 step above her the last 15 steps until she felt uncomfortable and put away her phone. I was gonna use my words, but being a middle age creeper had the same effect.
This guy has some GREAT videos comparing pickups. Same equipment, same tuning, but no info on the guitar. He plays the same riffs back to back. I actually like the clean sound on the Distortion. I think it sounds better than the JB or Custom 5.
I've been watching a bunch of Youtube videos and the Duncan Alnico IIs came up. I really like the sound. For the bridge, maybe the Custom 5. Not as hot as an EMG or metal pickups (Invader), but is more balanced, a bid more scooped. I'm gonna watch a few more videos before deciding.
