Once the Florida DC realized we were going to continue to run those slow developing routes and our OL couldnāt handle simulated pressures he spammed that button. Arch was in hero ball mode but he would ultimately be a better QB if he checked down more often and utilized Endries as well. Crazy we went from the check down king to Brett Favre. If OU is smart they wonāt sit in a 3 high shell and instead send pressure packages at Arch and the OL. If Sark is smart he installs some quick passing plays and use the deep ball strategically. I donāt have very high hopes.
I would have preferred something along the lines of āwe need to find solutions along the OLā If all the guys behind the current starting 5 are worse we are fucked. Robertson needs to start at C. A complete open competition at LG. Any anyone that wants to challenge the Tackles should be able to do so too.
If this OL and offense executes consistently against our 1st team D then we are in for a very long season. Before yesterday Iād say that would be hard to believe but 21 points from the offense should have won that game yesterday. Our D line got pushed around yesterday and our secondary got punked by a freshman WR.
I agree with most of what you said. Definitely a game he can build on. From a team outlook I think we overlooked the impact the inexperience this team possessed. Iāve resigned to the fact this team is probably a year away from being an actual championship contender. At this point just want to see continued improvement.
Youād expect Arch to be more prepared for moments like that. He has to know he canāt take sacks. Disappointing ending for an otherwise pretty decent game from him.
Arch is not at the top of the list of things that went wrong today. Outside of the int I think this has been a relatively good game from him considering his OL has been a sieve. Definitely a game he can build on.
Our OL situation is in a comical state. I wasnāt in the fire Flood camp before but I am now. Change is needed. Recruiting large human beings that canāt execute any kind of run scheme and canāt stop committing penalties should be grounds for moving on from Flood.
Sark canāt seem to understand he doesnāt have the players at almost any level to run his offense. This was obvious after San Jose St. He had weeks to adjust and didnāt.
And Jamaal had an idiot of a head coach who thought it was a good idea to have him splitting carries with the ghost of Larry Johnson and then Thomas Jones to begin his career.
In the context of OL donāt forget Charlie had an OL good enough for some guy named Donta Foreman to run for 2k yards in a season. You think he could do the same behind this OL? And donāt get me wrong Charlie Strong sucked ass as a head coach.
Iām not a fire Flood guy yet either. But his unit is probably the least talented unit on the team. I know he likes to recruit his types but if you canāt get them to execute they are worthless. I donāt know if Pittman gets another head coaching gig but heād be a welcome addition on the staff.
I find this virtual measurement thing useless. If anything, better technology would have been a virtual spotting of the ball if the spot is challenged.
Itās funny how soon some of you forget about the FSU Bama game and are right back to sucking off Bama like they are world beaters now. That team can very well lose next week to Vandy.
