  1. This is not an FBI report; it's a report TO the FBI by someone. Most of the more salacious things we're getting are exactly that - things reported by members of the public. Many may well be true, but they are not government reports. They're notes on calls that anyone can make to the FBI. Whether any were followed up on is a better question.
  2. That's fair, and good info - thanks (I did not get drawn for anything). On the other hand, where did that story get the information that "many seats remain unsold" particularly based on what you said - how can they know? Again, I didn't get drawn for any tickets at any price point in Seattle. I don't doubt that the number of international visitors will not be what was expected; I still think the seats will be filled.
  3. heh heh... I like that. That said, checking ticket brokers (since FIFA has already gone through their allocation process now), there's only a few hundred seats available for any of the Seattle matches, and those at stupid high prices. Maybe the world thinks we're Canadian (not far off!); I don't know what sales are like in any of the other host cities.
  4. Nice of them to catch up. WA and OR have been doing this for two decades. They'll even send you text updates on your ballot's progress through the system once you drop it off or mail it. Of course, you need to show appropriate ID when registering (which at least in WA you can do until the "polls" close on election day), but after that they sort of figure you're still the same person you were when you registered.
  5. You know, apropos of absolutely nothing - I'm not even sure why I used the quote function - I was just in Milan's Piazzale Loreto a few minutes ago. Some of you might be thinking "hmm, I've heard of that place" but I can reassure you that no, there's no longer an Esso station there. In case you were wondering. Apropos of nothing.
  6. Those dreadnoughts ain't gonna fuel themselves.
  7. Also unsuccessful for the 4 matches I applied for in Seattle. I'll end up paying whatever to attend at least one (probably Egypt v Iran lol). @tokamak I've been to Cabo Verde and enjoyed it very much so I'm a big fan of the tubarões azuis but alas they're not on my end of the continent. Hope you see them win!
  8. Just now saw us walk in live on Italian TV. NBC provides the world feed and they showed Vance. It was clearly the same feed in the stadium.
  9. Not motto-worthy.
  10. You know what's there now, where the Esso station used to stand? A McDonald's. 🤣 Probably couldn't be much more fitting. I'll wander by there in a couple of weeks to see if ol' Benito was able to transmogrify via a Happy Meal into the corpulent orange fellow we're more familiar with. There is, however, still an Esso station about a mile from Piazzale Loreto. It even has a canopy and all to hang stuff from, just like the old one did. (It should be recalled that Il Duce, Petacci, and their lot didn't meet their end at the famous Esso station, but at Lake Como. Their bodies were unceremoniously dumped in Milan at the Esso, spat on, kicked, and pissed on before being strung up to air dry for a few days. Perhaps a cautionary tale, perhaps not.)
  11. My state senator is the author of this bill. The governor has asked the state House to pass it quickly so that he can sign it. This is a 60-day session year so it should occur relatively soon. The vote was party line - not a single Republican voted for ICE to have to do what all other law enforcement does. Surprise. I talked to said Senator and my two reps urging them to pass this, amended to freeze funding to any law enforcement agency who violates it. They were in favor of this. We'll see how it goes. There's another bill in the WA state House that would require all law enforcement to activate body and dash cameras any time they come across any ICE agents or anyone that they reasonably assume is ICE and report it to their department, and obligates the state AG to defend them in any case arising from following said law. As mentioned, it's the beginning of a short session so we'll see what happens. The unmask ICE bill is likely to become law (Ds have the House 59-39).
  12. She's done (and the seat is likely lost). WA-03 is a maga-heavy district halfway between Seattle and Portland - the joke is that maga from each city fled in fear and this is where they ran into each other. It's Alabama with scenery. The seat is becoming somewhat more purple as the far northern suburbs of Portland are encompassed in the district, but it's still more red than blue. She won against an extremist guy now in the Trump administration via a coalition of Democrats and old-school Republicans, a breed that barely still exists, but now she is highly distrusted by both sides. Her voting record is about the same as the most "liberal" Republican in Congress. She will be successfully primaried by someone to her left, and that unfortunately won't hold the seat. If the Democrats hold WA-03 the midterms will have truly been a GOP bloodbath.
  13. Pretty sure ol' Sepp is still butthurt at the US for a less-corrupt administration going after him and his lackeys. He didn't seem to have much problem with the World Cup being hosted in Russia after they invaded Crimea.
  14. I hope the Italian carabinieri will have my back if I see any of these shitbags over there.
